human-target-tanarak.jpgWe're not 100% in Bodyguard Land as Chance has to go save someone who's already in trouble. Dr. Jessica Shaw is an Action Doctor, always jetting off to do some doctoring in exciting locales like Rwanda, Afghanistan, and, in this case, the tiny (and probably fictional) Alaskan island of Tanarak.

It seems that she was just off doing her "Northern Exposure" thing when suddenly one of her patients died of an unexplained embolism. And when she tried to do an autopsy, the mining company that employed her, him, and everyone on the island sent gun-toting goons after her.

So like we already said, Chance flies up to Alaska. Then he cons his way across the only bridge to the island, thugs out a goon, and finds Jessica right away. Then they jump off a giant waterfall and have to take off all their clothes and huddle together for warmth while Jessica talks about how much she hates mercenaries. Those dirty, dirty mercenaries. She hates them so much!

While that's all going on, Guerrero is astonishing Winston with feats of investigation and brutality to discover that this is all happening because the dead miner was poisoned by some sort of ooze that the company will kill Jessica to keep the world from learning about. So Chance and Jessica have to sneak into a mine shaft, which promptly collapses around them, forcing them to blow up another wall and escape. Then there's a big fight on a mining truck of some sort and Chance and Jessica escape and all is well.
