Even though "American Idol" sought to raise money for charities worldwide, the humanitarian message didn't extend to the Top 7 who sang inspirational songs the night before.

In the end, Tim Urban, he of the shining smile, got sent home. Ryan Seacrest affectionately called him the Comeback Kid and Teflon Tim. He was part of the Bottom 3 that included Aaron Kelly and Casey James.

They join Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze, Siobhan Magnus and Michael Lynche to return the following week.

The two-hour charity special included comedy bits by Russell Brand and Jonah Hill, George Lopez and Wanda Sykes.

Joss Stone, Carrie Underwood, Alicia Keys and Mary J. Blige gave some standout performances, but the night all led up to Elton John commanding the stage with his red piano.

And of course, a slew of celebrities solicited donations. We gave. Did you?

Will you miss Tim or was it about time?

I will miss Tim. Don't worry Tim, you're gonna have an AWESOME career still!!!!

Please let screaming & weird & whiny Soibahn be next!

Bout time he went home!

Tim didn't get a sing out or a group hug.. this makes me rather angry.

oh man!i love tim urban!hopes siobhan will be the next to be out!

Tim is amazing :) I'll miss him!

Oh, goody more weeks of Big Mike showing off his muscles and picking people up. I would rather watch Tim than Mike any day of the week. Good luck to Tim. He doesn't need Idol-- he can do very well for himself on Disney or Nickelodeon!
