'24': Let's waterboard Dana Walsh!
Yep, President Taylor went there. She listened to the worst President ever on "24," and authorized torture. It's official: President Allison Taylor is the most offending flip-flopper I've seen in fictional presidential history. Ethan initially convinces her that her morals are all out of whack and that she needs to expose the Russians instead of pursuing this peace. While he's helping to draft a statement to this effect, she finds Logan to let him down easy. Surprisingly, he takes the defeat well -- that is, until he offers a compromise: Label Dana as an enemy combatant so they get the info without revealing any immunity agreements. Logan practically triple dog dares her to do it, which she does. Logan then gleefully orders a private security firm to move Dana to a safe house.
Meanwhile, Jack successfully evades the Air Force and lands the chopper on a random building in Manhattan and blends into the throng of people below. Shortly after Arlo spots him, Jack buys a half-dozen cell phones and uses one to call Chloe, who herself just found out that Dana was no longer going to be in the hands of CTU. She begs in vain to get Jack to surrender, but to no avail. He's too busy finding an old friend of his: Mr. Blonde! Actually, his name is Jim, and boy does he owe Jack a huge favor if he has to load our hero with enough ammunition to put a large hole in the ground. As Dana is literally scared of her future, Chloe and Cole set up Jack to meet at a false safe house. Naturally, Jack smells something rotten and is able to take down Team Cole without a single injury. Chloe should have seriously known Jack was going to win, but it does allow for Cole to join Team Jack to find Dana's actual hiding spot.
In the end, Dalia is scared but ready to move the peace forward, and Ethan's ready to resign for "health reasons," much to Logan's delight. As President Taylor announces the forward progress of the treaty (now doused in blood!), Dana is lead into quite the shady room where, surprise surprise, the private security team performs the textbook definition of waterboarding.
Oh David Palmer... why did you have to die?

I was hoping that Ethan resigning would get the President to see the light but o well. This just goes to show that the best President on 24 is and always will be David Palmer and I would think that after 8 seasons people would learn to trust Jack Bauer a little more then they do..o well..I guess there is no show if Jack doesn't have to work hard to get his way. I'm also a little disappointed in Chloe. I realize she has a job to do and is under the Presidents orders but when has that ever stopped her before?
That sucked.
Luckily the latest episode of Chuck was the vomity taste out of my mouth.
Logan is about the smarmiest, weaseliest character I've ever scene.
I know I wasn't the only one wishing David Palmer was still alive I miss him so much.He would have kicked Logan to curb as soon as look at that devil incarnate.
Logan is so like the serpent tempting Eve with that poisoned apple tongue of his. They're both going down mark my words. Loved Ethan and Jack tonight.
I find this plot interesting. Before we've had presidents doing the right things for the right reasons (both Palmers), the wrong things for the wrong reasons (Logan & Noah) - but now we have the president doing the wrong thing for the right reasons.
These past few hours have changed a snoozer season into an interesting one!
Glad you think so, Noah James. The whole season has been one long slog, albeit the 24 version, which means it's still watchable, even at its most ridiculous. I'm not in the camp who believe the 24 writers include torture to speak out against the use of it, since I don't think they're capable of that kind of subtlety. Rather, I think they run out of stuff to do about half-way through the season, so they figure it's time for a torture scene. After all, since there don't seem to be any other working computers in New York City outside of CTU this season, hell, torture is the only way to get the information CTU requires. I'm sure that there is a very smart teenager somewhere in Kansas who could probably get the info faster than CTU, but where would the fun or logic be in that?
Yep, glad this is the last season. I've rolled my eyes so much this year that I'm going to have to get surgery to repair the detached retinas.
I've watched 24 from season 1 but it didn't start getting interesting this season until the last few episodes. Like everyone else, I dearly miss President Palmer. I had hopes for President Taylor this year, but she was so easily taken in by Logan and the whole the ends justifies the means malarky. Proud of Ethan for resigning. Are we supposed to feel sorry for Dana? I don't. She's murdered people personally, plus responsible for the murders of countless others. Have at her, that's what I say.
I'm recently going back and watching the old seasons of 24 - just made it to the end of S4 - for the first time, and I am loving this season.
People keep complaining about it, but I think it is as compelling as any of the seasons I've seen so far (though lacking in gunfights).
Also, seeing Dana get waterboarded was the highlight of my week.
Taylor is a weak excuse for a president, but that's cool. That has made for one of the biggest surprises of the season. Frankly, Palmer was boring. All Presidents have been, except for Logan. I just wonder what's going to happen to her in the end, and how she's going to react when she learns-probably-that Logan has set this entire thing up, probably even manipulating the Russian ambassador from behind the scenes.
How can you all maintain that Palmer was a good guy. During Day 3 he expends a great deal of energy trying to extract his brother from the consequences of his affair. These actions were solely motivated by his desire to save his own Presidency.
And to top it all by rights he should have been arrested as an accessory to murder, in fact as a direct accomplice to murder.
Palmer was no better than Logan or any other Politician - self righteousness covering up for self interest.
And,as it happens I think this season, whilst becoming utterly ridiculous, is absolutely great!
