'American Idol' goes to 11 as Lacey Brown goes home
"American Idol" sent the first member of the season 9 top 12 packing on Wednesday (March 17). Lacey Brown was the first one sent home. The results show didn't pack a whole lot of drama, as none of the bottom three contestants was a big surprise. Paige Miles, who performed Tuesday despite laryngitis, and Tim Urban joined Brown in the bottom three, and after Urban got a pass to next week's show, it came down to roommates Miles and Brown. Voters liked Miles' version of the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Women" better than Brown's "Ruby Tuesday."
Brown then sang Brandi Carlile's "The Story" -- the same song that got her through to the top 12 last week -- in an effort to convince the judges to save her, but Simon Cowell and Co. opted to hold off on using their one save card for later in the season.
Wednesday's show also featured the return of season 7 "Idol" winner David Cook, who ripped through a cover of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and teased his involvement in this year's "Idol Gives Back" special. He'll be traveling to Africa soon to help spotlight the work of the United Nations Foundation.
Rising pop star Orianthi also performed her song "According to You" live, and Ke$ha took the stage in a pre-taped performance of "Blah Blah Blah."
So, no shakeup in the first week. What did you think of the "Idol" results -- about what you expected?

Well, Lacey got eliminated and its not too emotional only because she was never really a favorite but she wasn’t nearly the worst either. I guess the hardest part was that this would have been her second attempt which means she’s got some inkling of a real future in singing but probably will be very niche, like the cardigans or sixpense. Otherwise I stick to my opinion that Siobhan will take it all and Crystal will be the runner up. Please share your opinions on my public opinion poll website at http://www.baduku.com/americanidol9, thanks.
Yup, I predicted that Lacey, Paige and Tim would be in the bottom three, based on last night's performances. I figured Lacey would be going home, since I don't see much support for her on any AI boards. At least Tim has the tweens behind him! It was good to see Cook again, but I absolutely hated that Ke$ha performance.
Kesha (I refused to put the dollar sign in her name...so stupid) was atrocious. I was wondering why they'd put someone that bad on and then I read about her Kara connection. Figures.
Yeah, it really sucks that you put this story up before Idol finished airing on the left coast. I wasn't going to read the story, just comment, so I could remain spoiled, but damn if you didn't spoil it in the headline.
Thanks so much. Not.
Argh. That should have read "remain UNspoiled".
we all know you west coasters are not important! east side!!!
Great to see David Cook! He really is the best artist the show has produced. Can't wait for his new album.
Two weeks in a row, two of the top 4 girls go home. I hope this isn't going to turn into another Sanjia (sp) season.
@ the world speaks
sure the west coasters are not important, untill some city on the east coast gets bommed or attacked then The West Coasters show you all how great we are by helping and caring about people in our own country and not be uptight like all the east coast people.
House_Draven, you were going to come on here and comment without having seen the results show? What were you possibly going to comment on?
Once it airs, it's news, folks. Stay off a TV site if you don't want to be spoiled, you whiny b*tches.
