'Desperate Housewives': There's a plane on the lane
Tonight on "Desperate Housewives," a plane crashes the Christmas party. Before we get to the big plane crash, we head back three days earlier to the Wisterians setting up their Christmas decorations.
Katherine, Mike & Susan
As Bree and Susan urge Lynette and Gabby to make up, Katherine is wheeled out of her house on a stretcher. She fingers Mike as the person who stabbed her. When Susan goes to see her in the hospital, Katherine really has gone 'round the bend. She claims Mike stabbed her because she said she loved someone else, but it's kind-of flattering he'd care that much. When Bob tells Susan only a family member can commit Katherine, Susan calls Dylan pretending to be the British doctor and convinces her to come out.
When Dylan shows up, her story is that Katherine and Mike are married, Susan made a scene at their wedding and that Susan stabbed Katherine. OH MY GOD. Dylan is horrified to learn the truth and is on board to clear Mike and get her mom some help. When Dylan goes to see Katherine, Katherine cries and insists that Mike wants this so she can save him from Susan. She tries to leave the hospital and orderlies have to restrain her. It's really disturbing but good work by Dana Delany.
Bree & Orson
Bree serves Orson with divorce papers and tells him his parole officer will see the pictures of him consorting with a felon if he refuses to sign them. He tells her he was bluffing right from the start, he would never have sent her to jail. Orson overhears Bree talking to Karl and asks her not to go public with her new relationship until he's gone so that he can save a little face. Meanwhile, Karl is hiring a little Cessna to fly over the Christmas party with a "Will you marry me, Bree?" banner. Oh dear.
The Scavos & Solises
Lynette has Penny clipping coupons and Tom is going to drop out of school to get a job, so Lynette goes to apologize. Gabby's having none of it, though. It culminates in a fight at the Christmas party.
The Bolens
Danny assures the nurse that his name is Danny and she shouldn't call him Tyler; he must have been dreaming. Nurse Mona is on to them, though. She tells the Bolens she knows they're in the witness protection program and Angie and Nick jump on the excuse (but clearly that's not the real reason). When Mona drives Danny home from the hospital, she says she's in on the secret, which prompts him to reveal that his mom is a terrorist. Oops. Mona about swallows her tongue.
At home, Danny tells Angie what he did and she tries to play it off to Mona as a lie by Danny but Mona instead blackmails Angie for $67,000 so she can quit her job. Angie can only get $10,000 and her grandmother's wedding ring and when Mona says it's not enough, Angie reveals her back scars and says Mona needs to hear the whole story. Mona is not swayed and gives Angie one day to come up with the rest of the money. But fortunately, a plane is on its way into the lane.
Holiday Festival
The Jingle Belles sing, while Lynette and Gabby snipe at each other mid-performance, which devolves into a full-on fight. Bree has a fit and makes them work things out. She storms off, as Karl comes to say hello. Orson assumes Karl is swooping into get Bree's divorce proceedings business and tells Karl to beat it.
Karl then tries to cancel the plane that's on its way. Luckily, the crazy woman at the controls of the plane (who has taken over because her pilot husband had a heart attack) gets instructions from the tower to drop the banner, which she does.
Bree overhears about the banner and is distraught about humiliating Orson. Karl rushes off to tell Orson the truth, so they step inside Santa's house to talk. Karl confesses that he's Bree's boyfriend and Orson punches him. And then again. A fight ensues. Bree tries to break it up, but now we're back to the plane.
Everyone just stands there watching the plane. Mona is the first one hit (of course). Lynette says Gabby's Celia. The plane mows down Santa's house with Bree, Orson and Karl inside. We fade out on a bloody hand through the Santa house window.
Thoughts & Tidbits
- Well done by Teri Hatcher on that accent. That was hilarious.
- Sorry I pretty much skipped over the fighting pilot and his wife. They weren't funny, they were obnoxious and I would've rather seen more Lynette-Gabby than those two.
- So who died? Mona, obviously. That's a cop-out, show. Bree and Karl are probably hurt but I bet Orson's the one who's dead. And I bet that's it. Orson and Mona? WEAK.
- Mrs. McCluskey: Girls only! We're the Jingle Belles, not the Jingle Balls.
Lee McDermott: Shouldn't you be stealing the last can of Who-hash? - Bob Hunter: I don't remember the word 'bitch' being in the song.
Roy Bender: Oh no, it's always been there.

Loved it! Nothing screams happy holidays in TV land like a plane crash and a few dead pseudo characters.
I'd read that the dead person is someone who was with the show from the start. Assuming it isn't Bree, that leaves Karl.
Too bad about the plane. Other than that, it was a beautiful spring day for a Christmas celebration, all the trees with green leaves, flowers blossoming everywhere.
Cherry said 3 people would die, one from that's always been there, a newer one and a fan favorite. Mona obviously, I also Bob died, they played to him and Lee alot tonight, and sadly Karl. I really don't want him to go but I can't think of who else it would be.
As much as I will miss him, I think it's Karl who will be killed off. I don't think the writers know what to do with a Bree-Karl marriage. Bree & Orson feel like family to each other, Bree & Karl don't. And btw, Mike needs more air time. Who is he anyway? We understand all the other men far better than we understand Mike. Making him a plumber was not a smart writing decision. At first it was just a cover identity for the mysterious new neighbor (Mike), but then they lazily turned it into the truth. Please give him something ELSE to do for a living, a job that matches the man.
Bree should have Karl in her life, and Orson should not die. It is interesting that she never saw the love orson held for her. he went to jail for her, lost a great career, and was in sync with her haute tastes. karl, yechh...bree should realize what she lost, and Orson, should move on with a new love interest. no death please...
I'm reading everywhere that it's Karl who died. Spoilers from future episodes suggest this. I love Karl and Bree. They were very entertaining to watch.
It will be Karl who died -- that's one of the reasons they had Julie return to the show.
It better not be Orson who is dead because i love his character. I mean he has done some annoying stuff in the past but still. Katherine in a looony bin, I wonder where the writers will take that storyline. Mona, blackmailing terrorist is not a good idea, i mean the Bolens look like whatever they did was not on purpose but still if they were terrorist they would just kill you late at night.
I mean Wisteria Lane has had murderers on this street and people seem to die left and right so you know that no one will care too much if you die anyways. Mike has killed someone, it was self defense though, Zach's dad, Mary Alice, Orson ran someone over, Bree has watched someone kill themselves, Orson's ex wife, I mean pretty much everyone has witness a killing or killed someone on this street.
Gabby and Lynette, it was funny but not nearly as funny as watch Orson vs. Karl.
Finally episode of the year and now all of these storylines will must be resolved in the second part to this episode. Gabby and Lynette won't be fighting anymore because Lynette saved Gabby's daughter, Wow Lynette so heroic. Bree's affair is out of the bag. Anyone who had doubts will soon know Katherines crazy, keep away from the children. And now finally everyone knows Lynette's pregnant.
Favorite scene: Karl and Orson fighting in the miniture house and Bree trying to stop right before a plane crashes through.
Second Favorite Scene: I enjoyed the scene where Katherine weht crazy at the hospital.
Oh yeah, i think it is obvious that the pilot is dead, his wife looked dead too. Mona is long gone, I loved how Angie just ran off not even warning her.
Did no one else notice Bree's bloody had sticking out of the window, i mean that is obviously a women's hand. Watch it again. Now that does not mean Bree is dead but i'm just saying this cause the reviewer did not notice it. i do believe Karl or Orson is dead, did you see the way the plane tore up that house.
That is four dead in my count so far. please, dont let orson die
Not sure whose bloody hand it was but it was a left hand and there was no wedding band on it - in the scene a bit earlier, Orson is wearing his wedding ring - so, if it is a woman's hand, maybe it is Bree - though I'd be surprised if they kill her off or a very well-kept male hand which would be Karl's.
If the rumors are true about 3 people dying, and this is truly sick, it could be Lynette's twins and Mona...
