'The Biggest Loser': Bob + Amanda = Together 4 Eva
Suze Orman drops by "The Biggest Loser" campus to educate on the financial impact of obesity. To sum it up: being fat is expensive, y'all. The first few minutes of this week's show is filler, so we'll just skip ahead. Financial guru Suze Orman makes a cameo to talk about the added cost of being obese. Not only is it expensive to buy all that take-out food, but the medication and cost of health insurance is also outrageous. This week's mini-challenge was basically an excuse to give the contestants a few thousand bucks and to educate America. They had to walk on a treadmill and answer money questions. Did you know that obese people make on average $7000 less a year because they don't work as much? Or that Americans spend $4.4 billion a year on gastric bypass? That's a lot.
Bob Harper decides to gather the kiddies around to make certain they're prepared for the real world. At first, they're all giving him the Miss America answers. But eventually, they all break down about how scary it's going to be to go back home. Danny had overcome a weight problem in his past, but ended up getting fat again. He's worried the same thing will happen. Bob assures them that they all have the education and motivation to continue on their journeys. That's when things get weird. Amanda and Bob have this weird platonic yet lovey-dovey relationship. She writes him a love letter and he practically asks her to bear his children.
This week's challenge is something they do every season; make the contestants carry all the weight they've lost. And we get another celebrity! It's NFL Hall-of-Fame player Rod Woodson! He's here to pimp the Play 60 program and give away a sweet trip to the Pro Bowl. Each player will have to carry the weight they've lost back and forth on a football field, dropping weight increments as they go. Naturally, Allen and Rudy are the front-runners, but Allen pulls into the lead with a well-timed sprint to the finish. Amanda comes in third, followed by Liz and then Danny.
FYI: Danny's song "Take This Second Chance" is now available for pre-order on Amazon and iTunes. Or you can download it illegally on Limewire or your favorite torrent.
Jillian Michaels and Bob are pretty proud of the gang during last-chance workout. They've come a long way since the first week. Et cetera. They want to make sure each contestant has a fair shot of getting to the finals. So let's get on with the weigh-in to see who's in and who's out. But wait! There's more! The winner of this week's weigh-in gets a private cooking lesson with Chef Curtis Stone. The ladies might like this prize a little more than the guys.
Liz is the first to weigh in. She doesn't do great. She loses five pounds, which brings her down to 198. She's excited to be out of the 200s but with a 2.46% loss, it's not enough to ensure her safety. Rudy's next and kicks butt with a 12-pound loss. Allen loses eight pounds. Danny manages to pull out a huge 16-pound loss. Not only does that bring him out of the 300s to 288, but he broke the record for most weeks with double-digit losses. He was this week's biggest loser with 5.26% and gets to canoodle with Curtis Stone.
That leaves Amanda. She's been the dark horse in this competition. Her weight loss has been consistently subpar, but she always managed to evade elimination. Tonight, she knew if she didn't keep herself above the yellow line she'd be going home. Amanda loses seven pounds and barely squeaks by. That leaves Allen and Liz below the yellow line. Ironically, Amanda ends up being the swing vote. Allen convinces Amanda that Liz is a bigger threat than he is, but Amanda actually does the brave thing and votes off Allen. She'd rather have Liz there in finale with her as motivation to work harder. Go figure. Since the show, Allen has lost an additional 10 pounds. But to be fair they probably filmed his segment shortly after his elimination. We'll have to wait until the finale to see his current weight. And apparently, the show saved his marriage. Cool.

Amanda is the only one that I like anymore. And you cant say she has lost only 64 pounds as a fault, as a percentage I am sure she is beating Liz
I've come around to like Amanda a bit, too. I miss Rebecca. I hope that Liz is voted off next week. Amanda-Rudy-Danny would be pretty cool. I'd probably be pulling for Danny for the win.
I don't really get the game play advantage of Amanda dumping Allen. I'm sure not falling for the "girl-power" reason she gave.
Rudy is still in the high 200s, he's almost got this in the bag. The Bob/Amanda lovefest was truly sickening, but the final few seconds of the show were hilarious!!!!!
I need to vent...
I know they've lost a lot a weight - that really is great. But please stop beating me over the head with the constant flashbacks of how fat they were. This show would be 30 minutes if it wasn't for all the freaking flashbacks.
And seriously, we could have a drinking game for as many times Amanda mentions she doing it for America. Yes America voted for you - now shut your pie hole.
Also, If I took a drink for every time they said the word "journey" I would be lit half way through.
One final note: They have lost a ton of weight, something to be very proud of, but you're not the guys from Twilight. So stop running around saying how skinny you are (happened during the makeover episode.) Because unfortunately, most of you are still fat.
I know the last one was out of line, but I warned you I needed to vent.
thank you.
Rudy does not have this in the bag. Considering Danny is five inches shorter, he was heavier for his height, and he's been catching up to Rudy the past few weeks - they are now separated by 0.008 percent in terms of weight loss. If anything, Danny has it in the bag.
Amanda has almost caught up to Liz, they're separated by .2 percent. Considering Liz has had two bad weeks in a row and Amanda's had two great weeks, she'll probably surpass Liz next week.
Totally agree with JC. The editing on this show just keeps getting worse. Repeat photos, repeat scenes, repeat speeches enough already!! If you are not able to film enough footage to make a decent 2 hour show, than shrink it.
Liz is really getting on our nerves, but still disliking Amanda the most. Do it for yourself, not America cause we don't really friggen care about you and your ego anymore
I also find it amazing that they are all holier-than-thou about how anyone at home can do it yet they were all fat obese people until they got into a controlled environment. Then you see the ones they revisit afterwards and they have pretty much all gained back quite a bit of weight since they left the ranch over the past few seasons and if you saw them on the street today you would still think they were fat.
Loved seeing Carla on the special. Still wish she had won it all. She has class. Vicky, even though she has kept the weight off still comes across as a selfish b*tch. Notice they didn't show her husband. Pork up again did he?
i really wish Amanda would have gotten the boot. i hate Rudy, Liz and Amanda. hopefully Danny wins it all. btw, totally wish Amanda would stfu about being America's choice...i didn't vote for you...and quit kissing Bob's butt all the time
Danny is the only one I like now. I used to like Rudy, but not I can't stand him. I never cared about Liz, Amanda, or Allen so I'm glad he's gone.
JC's comments were hilarious, even if politically incorrect. No clue why this show doesn't shrink to 90 or 60 minutes once the pool of remaining contestants has shrunk in number. Most baffling timewaster = the recap b/w Hour 1 and Hour 2. Sorta implies we have no need to watch between 8-9, doesn't it?
I was pulling for Allen since he has cried the least and backstabbed the fewest, so I guess following that logic, I must pull for Amanda now. I probably owe her that, since I was one of the minority who actually voted for the other girl to be on the show. : )
The Danny/Liz thing is getting on my nerves. Is it just me, or does it seem like their is some weird love connection going on between those two? Danny makes the comment, "that he and Liz were more than friends." Well what exactly more can you be? I get the whole comraderie, support system mentality, but this is a show/competition. So what are you saying to the American pulic, that you want there to be more between the two of you. These two act as if they cannot exist without the other. Now this is gross.
