'Brothers & Sisters': We all take a 'Pregnant Pause'
Tonight on "Brothers & Sisters," the baby news comes crashing down on the Walkers.Holly & David
David lays it out for Holly: either scale back the wedding or ask Nora for help. Investigators are looking into the wine crime but that doesn't get her money back. Holly has to go to Nora, who immediately wants to "help" with the plans, which causes Holly to storm off. Hmmm. I don't know if Holly really has any business doing that. You need HELP. Swallow your pride, woman.
Of course, Nora brings her a check and they make up. Nora swears no one will know about the money and that they have to learn to trust each other. Holly then asks how she's supposed to deal with the whole "grandmother" thing and they laugh.
Nora/Simon, Kitty/Robert & 5th wheel Sarah
The Walker Manse has gone to seed since Nora's been so busy having wild monkey sex all over (including the shower, which Kitty delightfully discovers). Kitty's first call is to Sarah, naturally. Kevin calls and gets in on it, then Justin. It's one of the classic Walker phone trees, this one featuring Nora's sexy life. Awesome.
Sarah is totally jealous of Nora's new boy-toy. Probably because she's coveting him for herself. She hides her jealousy in a fit of "something's fishy about this guy" and "digs up" on the internet two malpractice suits against him. Oooh, scary. My god, Sarah. Doctors get so many malpractice suits against them, it's not even funny. I'd be MORE suspicious if he DIDN'T have any. Kevin is totally with me, when Scotty brings it up.
Meanwhile, Nora comes to Kitty with her news about Holly's financial situation and Kitty spills the beans about the baby, thinking that Nora already knew. After the big party, Nora tells Kitty she told Simon to leave and then Sarah finally apologizes. They tell her to go after Simon and get her Mrs. Robinson on.
Rebecca & Justin
Rebecca still won't 'fess up about the baby. When Kitty goes dress shopping with Rebecca, the dress won't fit anymore (Lorelai Gilmore and Quinn Fabray can sympathize). Kitty naturally figures it out and Rebecca begs her not to tell.
Meanwhile, Justin gets his midterm grades and they are not good, so all of his missing-out-on-family stuff is for naught because he's still sucking at med school. So he has a glass of champagne at the bachelor party and Kevin freaks. Justin leaves and while he's gone, Robert spills to the rest of the guys about the baby. Saul goes to talk to Justin and he confesses about the bad grades and says he misses Rebecca.
At Rebecca's wedding meeting with the girls, Nora and Kitty are being totally weird about their secrets and Rebecca storms off. Simon shows up and Sarah grills him, like the bitch that she can sometimes be. She tells Nora about the malpractice suits and Nora calls her out on a good-looking, young guy would be interested in her. Nora apologizes that Luc left, but says it's unfair for Sarah to take her broken heart out on Nora. Damn right, Nora. Smack her for me.
Finally, Justin and Rebecca talk and he confesses about the drink and she freaks and just blurts out that he's going to be a father. She's.... kind of a bitch about it. Maybe she and Sarah should start a club. They could have jackets made.
Justin can't believe she told David and Kitty before him and when he storms out, he realizes everybody knows but Holly. So he tells Holly and leaves. Robert talks some sense to him about how people lie just to cope sometimes and that he should decide if he wants to be a father. Justin then asks if it's an appropriate lie to say you want to have a baby when you don't. Yikes.
Holly talks to Rebecca about it, assuring her that she loves her and is proud of her no matter what. Rebecca wants to keep the baby. When she and Justin finally talk, he says he feels overwhelmed. She says she wants the baby and Justin says he wants the baby too.
Scotty & Kevin
The guys have to go harvest their sperm for the surrogacy. Scotty's sperm wins the sperm count test, which Type A Kevin doesn't take very well. At the end of the episode, Kevin goes to Sarah about the lawsuits, saying he thinks Simon got his medical license yanked. DUN DUN DUN.
Thoughts & Tidbits
- Regarding Justin's glass of champagne: Justin was addicted to vicodin. That's not the same. I'm pretty sure recovering alcoholics could still have pain meds if he or she were injured, for example, so I'm not sure that there's a problem here. On the other hand, I see why Kevin is concerned. Also, I've never been in a substance abuse program, so I'm no expert on what's what.
- So, did Justin lie about the baby? Or did he come around? I'm going with "lied."
- [Kevin hears about Nora's sexy time while at the fertility clinic]
Kevin: There is not a DVD in all of West Hollywood that could counteract what I just heard.

"She's.... kind of a ***** about it. Maybe she and Sarah should start a club. They could have jackets made."
Haha, hilarious. I could totally seeing someone saying this with the little pause after "She's" and me bursting out laughing.
good review. I officially love Holly, i love the little innocent look on her face when she was the odd women out about the pregnacy.
Favorite scene. the bacholor and bacholorette back to back scenes worked well to me.
I love this show!!!!!1
Justin still didn't come clean about his grades...at least on camera. If he still acts like this much of a child, he shouldn't be a father.
Sarah and Kevin should both be slapped. Who cares if he has malpractice suits or if he got his license revoked? That is none of their concern and has no bearing on his relationship with their mother. I get protective of mine at times but at a certain point I let things go. My mother is having fun. She needs to. So is Nora, who needs to as well.
And Kevin was even MORE annoying about his swimmers. He made a baby. Why can't Scotty get this one and he get the next one?
Kevin is going to lose Scotty if he doesn't put his ego, pride and Type A **** in check from time to time.
Actually -- I may not mind that. Maybe then I can get Scotty. Or at least Luke.
I loved this episode. Loved Nora, loved Holly and love Rebecca. The guys are hilarious and I'm glad David is around.
Justin still acts childish. I'm going with him lying too about the baby but knowing tv drama, the baby probably will never be born and then maybe they'll bring back Rebecca's emotional problems after the lose of a baby. Justin shouldn't drink. It's trading one addiction for another to cope with problems.
Yeah, I get why Kevin was upset with Justin. Drinking for drug addicts can just be replacing one addiction for another. He used drugs as a coping mechanism and he would use drinking for the same thing.
Moving on... Rebecca is 100% wrong with the baby situation. She basically backed Justin into a corner where he couldn't say he didn't want it. Meaning she let the whole family find out first and now Justin can't say "I want you to have an abortion" after his mom and his whole family knows about it. And for her to say "I didn't want you to influence me to do something I didn't want to do" what is that?!?! I wanted to punch her the whole episode!
Also, did Kevin and Sarah really expect Simon to introduce himself and follow it up with, "I've been sued a few times and that is why I am research now". Like, how is that any of their business?
take simon away from nora and i'll be pee'od. sick of all this sneaking behind the back the walkers do. it really takes away from the story for me.
yes, justin lied. looks like next week he can't keep it up.
go holly, but if somebody doesn't figure out ryan soon enough i've had enough of this show.
What I want to know is, how can Simon be romancing Nora Walker when he's married to Brenda Leigh Johnson?
I really like Simon and I hope they don't get rid of his character. Boo Sarah. She's probably my least favorite Walker (yes, even Tommy is above her) and stuff like this is the reason.
I can't really explain why, but I've liked Holly a lot more this season. Maybe the writers' inability to decide if she's a villain or a main character we can get behind is actually helping the situation. Now, she's simply a character who exists in this world and is much more relatable. She should have expected Nora to butt in (it's what she does), but told her from the get-go, that she can either loan the money or don't, but NO strings attached.
So why does Justin have to be dumb? I wouldn't want him suddenly to turn into a brainiac, but if he's been working this hard, giving his all and STILL failing (he even said he felt pretty good about his tests!), then this whole doctor thing should just be thrown out the window. Maybe he should start another way - nurse or physician assistant?
When Rebecca marries Justin, I think she'll actually become my least favorite Walker, which will move Sarah up a spot at least. This baby storyline is making me tense. And not in a riveted to my tv screen kind of way. It's all so soapy and annoying...
I don't like to be able to predict plot resolutions, but I hate not knowing where the writers are going with this.
And I totally get Kevin freaking out at Justin. He's had *two* addictions to narcotics - illegal and prescription. So it's clear he has an addictive personality and should definitely not be drinking.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BABY REBECCA AND JUSTIN WHERE HAVING I MUST HAVE MISSED SOMETHING DOES ANYONE ELSE KNOW???TKS.
