'The Biggest Loser': Dina gets two tickets home
Going home for a week on "The Biggest Loser" is always bittersweet; more family, less fitness. How does the Black Team fare in their respective jurisdictions?Last week, the Blue Team decided to take a vacation from common sense and sent Coach Mo home instead of Tracey. The Black Team, upon realizing that Tracey the Leaky Faucet is still on campus, immediately goes into a state of shock worse than insulin overload. Let's get this week's challenge over with so we can go ahead and send one team home.
Apparently digging up a bunch of sand isn't as fun as it sounds. Alison Sweeney waits on the beach that looks eerily like the Tribal Council and explains the rules. Basically: dig up a key that unlocks a treasure chest. Each team has four keys buried six feet under the ground. At first, the contestants just start playing in the sand, digging and doing sand angels. But then realization hits and it becomes hard. Really hard. It takes Danny about 40 minutes to get the first key. Unfortunately, he can't seem to pull his Black Team out of their holes because the Blue Team quickly takes the lead. And yes, Tracey was squealing like a pig on the sidelines the entire time.
Thanks to Allen on the Blue Team, they manage to get all their keys first and open their prize. It's tickets home for either them or the Black Team. Rather than risk it, they decide to send home their opponents and hope they slip up while away from campus. So Daniel, Abby, Danny, Amanda, Dina, and Shay are off to different parts of the country. They all have a bevy of family waiting for them, but will that be too much of a distraction?
Being home is understandably difficult for them. Shay makes an appearance in the organic food section at Ralph's for probably the first time ever, but her husband is having problems staying away from the greasy goodness that he's always eaten. Dina's husband, while "romantic" with his red roses and coattails, dumps the kid on his wife while she's trying to work out. Amanda is pretty lost in her new gym but thankfully Jillian talks her off a ledge.
Abby also seems to be doing OK. Her mother comments that for the first time since Abby lost her family in the accident, she is back to her happy self. She'd probably be happier if she got to eat that brisket. Danny is doing the best out of everyone. He was the only one who opted to not go out to eat with the family, and smartly grilled some veggies and lean meats in his backyard. Daniel is nervous about being home again, which begs the question: Why? Hasn't he been home for, like, 6 months? Didn't you lose a bunch of weight in-between seasons?
That week just flew by, but everyone's back on campus now. Jillian Michaels wants to do nothing but kick butts, which she does. Bob Harper has been killing his Blue Team all week, though. Does Jillian have the power to cram six days' worth into one workout? Probably not.
At the weigh-in, the Blue Team goes first. They were bummed they didn't get to go home, but it's totally worth it when they see their numbers. Rudy cranks out yet another double digit with a 14 pound loss. Tracey and Liz pull up the rear with 4 pounds each. Liz just seemed pissed, while Tracey looked like she was ready to blow her brains out with frustration. (Do it. Please.) As a team, they lost 35 pounds with a 2.65% loss. Then there's Black. Poor guys. They never stood a chance. We see 6 pounds, then 5, then 4.Then Danny whips out a 15 pound loss and gets them within striking distance of winning. Daniel needs to lose 11 pounds for the Black Team victory. Not only didn't that happen, but he actually gained a pound. That's right. Gained. Yikes. Black heads to elimination with their 2.04% loss, where everyone has decided that Dina is the strongest candidate to lose weight from home. Her adorable son is helping her with her weight loss, and she's even run a half marathon since the show! Is this the point in the show where the contestants start doing things I could never do? Because that's always a bummer.

THANK YOU! I missed the program tonight and was very very sad!
Still an editing problem at the Weigh-In. The standalone shot of the percentage monitor is shot after the weigh in has happened, thus having residual "impressions" from the weigh in earlier. You can actually see where the percentages will fall. Last night, you could tell the Black team was going to lose, and even that the last person was going to gain weight (because Danny's lost brought the line over the residual line). Damn High Def
How in the world does Tracy lose weight while not working out? she must be a witch. when will we see her leave? Cant stand her. and Daniel, what is happening boy? gaining? I dont get it. and why did they all opt to eat out? stupid! and Shay and Dinas hubbys arent too supportive are they?
I'm impressed with how Alison can do the math in her head so quickly.
She's smart and Hot!
Is anyone else getting sick of Shay and her boo-hoo'ing episodes. That is until she learns that she is safe for another week and then she seems to regain her holier-than-thou attitude. each week I root more and more for them to send that gas bag home. And it was amazing to see her walk into her apartment and her husband seemed barely excited and those stepkids didn't want any part of her. Hmm signs that she is a B**** at home too? Vote her off!
Daniel is also grating on our nerves. What happenned to the cousin or whomever it was that he did the show with last year? Why wasn't he waiting at the house to congratulate him? Hmm gain some weight back and not want to be on camera?
Amanda is the 3rd one that is getting a bit too self centered.
It was great to see the blue team stay put and bond in the gym. Its funny though that everytime tracey is on camera she has bug eyes
Now, why is it that Bob the trainer has moobs? For someone who has worked out all his life and IS a friggen trainer, he shouldhave a decent defined chest. He looks nasty in a tee shirt. Not very inspirational
I can't help thinking that even the at-home shots are all scripted. They show one person needing to take their kid to the gym with them (relate to the single and stay-at-home mom's), one being lost in the gym but rescued by a call from Jillian (plug for her books-on-tape or whatever it is she is hawking), one person battling the demons of eating out (solved by having all meals at Sub-Mart), one person benefiting by eating at home (use the crap scale and zip-lock bags for storage). I can't really fault the reactions of some of the friends/family. It's not like the contestent just showed up. There' staging, lighting, make-up, signing of waivers, etc, then told to look natural and don't pay attention to the camera's in your face.
So nobody else is puzzled that Dina got the boot? Daniel has already shown he can do it at home and Amanda has the least left to lose and will therefore be useless to the team at weigh-ins soon. I suspect there's a rather exclusive alliance going on.
And yeah, I actually felt bad for Shay because those kids didn't look very happy to see her. Then again, she and some of the others became quite insufferable in their proselytizing to their chubby friends and family about their new religion of health.
Shay has just plain got to go. What did she lose last night.....5 pounds I think it was?? The woman weighs 410+ pounds. 5 pounds sucks compared to that starting weight. If it weren't for Danny they would have gotten plain smoked last night. Before Daniel weighed in both teams stood at 35 pounds lost. YET....black team was STILL 10 pounds behind according to percentage. Does the black team not realize how that is happening?? If the black team is playing to make sure everyone that needs to get healthy does have the chance....keep Shay there. If however they are playing to win the game.....Shay has got to go....plain and simple. They cant compete with the Blue team much longer...if at all. Aside from all this....I'm sick of her constant boo-hooing as well. And did anyone else notice that the 2 friends she ate with at home were also overweight. Not much of a support system at home.
Was Daniel really fixin to start blaming his inability to loose weight on his not-so-good relationship with his mommy?? Be a man Daniel. Just say that you're fat because you were a lazy kid that sat on your butt all day and did no physical activity aside from walkin to the fridge or the cookie jar. Dont blame your mother for it.
The challenges suck and will continue to as long as its blue versus black. I dont know any challenge where the black team will have a chance. The guys on the blue team are way too strong and will continue to beat the stuffing outta the black team.
At this point I'm hopin Rudy takes it all. He works hard, has a no nonsense attitude, and his commitment shows every week on the scale. Everyone else on the show would do themselves a favor to stop and watch him awhile. Whatever he's doin....its the right things to be doin.
The show actually aired last night for a whole 5....maybe 10 seconds before someone was already bawlin like a calf. For pete's sake...turn off the constant waterworks already
What's with keeping the people who don't get to work out. They can't possibly lose much weight and are albotri. Plus Tracy is annoying and how did she 'work her but off'? Plus Shay is a tad, smidgen, lot too whiny.
