supernatural_240_003.jpgThe Winchester brothers are back together this week on "Supernatural", which is as good as things could get. So, why is Paris Hilton there to spoil our fun?

It starts out with a man getting killed in a violent car accident, in which the car was parked in a garage. And the car was supposedly the same one that James Dean died in, long with a few others. The imagery is particularly gruesome, but it isn't connected with the coming end of days. Dean wants to check it out anyway, to ease themselves back into a working relationship. When another man is killed by a zombie-like Abe Lincoln, the only thing they can figure is that the start of the apocalypse has brought about unusual activity in famous ghosts.

They visit the local wax museum and find out that they have actual personal effects from many of their cast replicas. Thinking it's an easy fix, they set about burning said objects. They get snagged up a bit when Sam is attacked by Gandhi, but they still get the job done with little fanfare. In fact, there is so little fan fare (And screaming, and flames) that Sam is suspect. Dean, on the other hand, just wants to move on.

But when they get a call about a girl who disappeared, they decide to check it out. When they find out that her friends claim it was Paris Hilton who took her, they realize this isn't a ghost. They go back to the drawing board - or, rather, Sam goes deep into research and deeper in the corpses. What he finds is a myth of an old forest gone, and bellies with rare seeds in them. It seems the god used to feed off his worshippers. Now, he'll accept any worshippers.

The most telling moment is when Dean quips that Paris can't kill him because he's not a fan of hers. She responds that she knows who his hero is - his father. And she's about to change into the more suitable form when Dean finally gets free. It's a fun fight scene, with Sam eventually getting free and chopping off Paris's head.

The episode ends with the boys having a heart to heart about the balance of their relationship. It comes down to the fact that Dean needs to stop blaming Sam for the end of the world and instead needs to let him grow up, while Sam needs to stop running away from his big brother and work with him. They each admit to the mistakes they've made that brought them here and agree that from now on, they are going to grab whatever is in front of them, kick it's a$$ and go down fighting.

The Funny:

Sam: So, this car is like...Christine?
Dean: No...that's fiction. This is real.

Dean: You couldn't be a fan of someone cool? Gandhi? Really?

Paris: This is what passes for idolatry? Celebrities? What have they got other than small dogs and spray on tans?

Dean: Not. A. Word.
Sam: Dude, you just got WAILED on by Paris Hilton!
Dean: Shut up.

I liked that this episode was all about getting the brothers on track. As cool as the apocalypse story line is, it can get a bit oppressive. Though, I did miss Castiel! What did you think?

THESE GUYS ARE DEFFINITLY HOT

Okay, when Paris was walking towards the axe talking about BDW, part of me was getting excited wondering if we were going to get a surprise guest apperance from JDM. How awesome would that have been?!

I loved this episode. Sam and Dean were both so awesome talking about their past mistakes. That's what I love about this show. No need for false drama. They can be mature and still have good story lines.

I'm with Lindlee--I was expecting a little JDM sighting.

I wish they had gone with another starlet. Paris Hilton annoyed me on Veronica Mars, and she annoyed me here tonight.

Funniest moment for me? When Dean referenced House of Wax, and Sam gave him a really funny look.

the house of wax was the best, but overall the episode lacked. i laughed more in the previews than the show(i mean, the csi miami bit??if thats in the actual episode, imagine the gag reel potential) totally missed cass and lucifer

This show is so good about being about to carry on a season long story arc, but still be able to throw in some basic "kick demon ***" eps w/o messing with the whole vibe of the storyline. Paris Hilton did not annoy me as much as I thought she would and it was kinda nice seeing her laying there, all beheaded. And quiet.
The previews of things to come look great! SPN is just a perfect gem of a show!

Dean DOESN'T blame Sam for the end of the world. In his phone conversation to Bobby, Dean is talking about HIMSELF. And Dean already said "WE created this mess and WE need to clean it up." Dean had already (before this episode) told Sam that he broke the first seal. He has told Sam over and over that he doesn't blame him for starting the apocalypse. They are BOTH to blame.

And why is DEAN the only one who apologizes and says he's sorry and that he was wrong? I'd like to hear just one "I'm sorry, I was wrong" from Sam about chosing Ruby over Dean, and how that hurt Dean. Instead, he actually blames Dean and uses it as an excuse for why he chose Ruby?? I mean, here's the brother who went to hell for him, and all he wanted to do was get away from him??

I'm always happy to watch a show where Paris Hilton gets killed! Loved it!

My boys are awesome. We have to generate more buzz guys. Just once I want to see it off the bottom of the ratings in its hour. Massive e-mails next original episode. Just say Supernatural 8pm Gotta watch. nothing else make them curious. Tell them to foward. We'll be like a street team!

"It comes down to the fact that Dean needs to stop blaming Sam for the end of the world "

Dean never blamed Sam for the end of the world. He explicitly stated he did not blame Sam for it prior to this episode.

Dean also clearly told Sam about his own role in it along time ago, so Sam obviously knew Dean felt extremely badly about his own role in it. Dean was and still feels responsible for that. Dean's never shirked his responsibility with regards to his role in the Apocalypse.

This whole episode felt like a false set up - their hunts were always run more on concensus, it was never Dean just ordering Sam around and then taking off in the middle of the day for a break(that was totally out of character actually). They went on hunts Sam found just as often as Dean, they took ideas on what to do from Sam just as often as from Dean, there were just as many times that Sam said "I'm doing this" and Dean had to follow as vice versa. In fact the reason Dean ended up wanted for being a serial killer in Season 1 is because Sam pulled a "we're doing this" b!tchface. It was a case, it's good they took it, but Sam was being "bossy" there and he's done it other times as well.

Dean pulled the seniority out only a couple of times a season and, half the time, it was only half-heartedly and they did what Sam wanted to anyway. We also can't forget that Dean does have seniority, not simply because he's the older brother but because he IS the more experienced hunter - Dean has been hunting nearly a decade longer than Sam when you take into account the fact that Sam wanted as little to do with hunting as possible growing up, so tried to keep himself occupied with other things while Dean dedicated himself to training and getting hunting experience and the fact that Sam did no hunting for 4 years he was in college, while Dean hunted that entire time.

Sam has yet to apologize for how he treated Dean all last season. In fact he went back to blaming Dean for how he treated him last season. What he basically said was "it's your fault I treated you badly"

This episode was more of Sam's usual pattern of apologizing with a big old "but" on the end, the but being followed by all the reasons Sam was "forced" to do what he did because other people made him do it.

That's not accepting responsibility. That's making excuses.

It's easy to accept responsibility for the Apocalypse, Sam knows, and as this episode showed, has always known there is blame to go around on that.

But to say he went with Ruby because Dean was supposedly bossy just makes Sam look like the sort of immature "Tween" he claims not to be. He doomed the world because every once in a while Dean said "We're doing it my way"?

Not to mention, it shows an incredible lack of patience on Sam's part. Dean came back from Hell - he was dealing with massive issues even before he remembered what happened, he had an angels popping in telling he had things to do. And Sam got all angry and ran away with a demon because Dean wasn't acting like he wanted Dean to?

No one "lets" you be an adult, you either are one or you aren't one.

A true adult knows that.

Oh, great, let's start the Sam hating club again, all hail Saint Dean and let's point out just how bad and awful Sam is. I for one am just about sick of it; heaven forbid that this should be a show about TWO imperfect, dysfunctional, heavy-baggage-carrying bros who BOTH screw up, who BOTH do both good and bad things, who at day's end are just trying to survive and hang in there and hopefully salvage their souls and their bond for each other in the process. No, it's gotta always be a p***ing contest amongst fans over which brother is BETTER. Geez. How about we lay off the tally sheet of who wronged whom the most egregiously and just love the guys, warts and all, even evil old bitchface Sammy cause hey, if Saint Dean can still love his sorry ***, why not the fans, too? I RESENT that all this fan whinging against Sam is conversely enough making me dislike Dean more and more because he is shown as SO much better and I'm sorry, but he ISN'T. If you guys hate one of the two main characters THAT much, what enjoyment can you possibly get from the show as a whole, unless it's just to sit and count up all the wondrous things about one brother as opposed to the craptastic jerk the other one is in your view. Sorry, but grrr, I am just sick of the Sam bashing; and I say Sam rather than brother bashing, because it's mostly Sam who IS hated and I'm pretty sure that was never Kripke's ultimate intention. If Dean was the one being whaled on so mercilessly, I would find that equally reprehensible, because his character isn't just black or white, one thing or another, and neither is Sam's. And I'm sorry, but Sam HAS apologized, but apparently since he didn't sit down and make an exhaustive list of every single thing he ever said or did to Dean, it's just not good enough that his apology WAS genuinely sincere and that Dean himself admitted that he KNEW Sam is sorry. You Sam haters will never be satisfied, so why do I even bother?
