'Dancing With the Stars' Results: Melissa Joan Hart & Louie Vito double eliminated
Week 6 of "Dancing With the Stars" brought a double axe to the party. I'm both surprised yet not at the results.
Country phenom Taylor Swift kicks off the show with her new single "Jump and Fall." I'm not sure who's dancing with her as neither host Tom Bergeron or co-host Samantha Harris seemed to have mentioned their names. They're very good though. It's a catchy little ditty. She's not the greatest singer in the world but she's very likable and I appreciate her song content for the young girls out there.
We're shown the recap from last night with the customary confessional insert next. Since there's a dance-off tonight, there's no encore. The first couple safe is Joanna Krupa & Derek Hough, thanks I'm sure in no small part to the questionable judges Competition Mambo last night. Mark Dacascos & Lacey Schwimmer are also safe which I'm much happier about.
After a commercial break, Filler Package #1 is about the couples reacting to the stress of a double elimination. Our next two safe couples are Donny Osmond & Kym Johnson and Aaron Carter & Karina Smirnoff. Karina actually squeaked with joy which I'm not sure I've ever heard before (or at least in a very long time).
The next musical guests are Tiempo Libre, seven guys who left Cuba and their story is being adapted in some way that I missed. They have two pairs of dancers, also anonymous, working it out to the saucy beats. I really, really like them - I sense an MP3 purchase in my near future.
Filler Package #2: The celebtestants are designing the costumes next week instead of their pro partners. It was a cute, innocuous little segment.
More revelations - Mya & Dmitry Chaplin are safe as are Kelly Osbourne & Louis Van Amstel. Our remaining three couples are in the Red Light of Doom: Michael Irvin & Anna Demidova, Melissa Joan Hart & Mark Ballas, and Louie Vito & Chelsie Hightower. I'm not too surprised by this since I really think their placement in the Marathon last night had a huge affect on their standings.
Taylor Swift returns with her hit "Love Story" while Jonathan, Maks, Tony, Anna T., Edyta, and Cheryl dance in fairy tale themed costumes. It was a charming little performance and I really like the ladies' dresses.
Filler Package #3: Olympians Nadia Comaneci and Greg Louganis and former basketball player-now-analyst Bill Walton and his very bright Chiclet teeth give advice on how to get perfect 10's and maintaining success. Eh.
Before we can get to the dance-off, we have to learn who's just plain out. The couple with the lowest score this week is Melissa & Mark. Melissa looked surprised and Mark disappointed. She's all smiles when they initially come to speak with Tom and she admits it's tough to leave at this point. Mark says he's really proud of her and that they'll always have the shining moment of their Charleston. In the midst of this, Tom asks if Melissa wants to go and read her kids "Curious George" after looking at Mark's yellow outfit. "Thanks Tom," replies Mark. Tee hee.
Dance Off
Michael & Anna
Dance/Song: Samba/"Express Yourself" a la
A smart style choice since it's all about playing to the crowd and having fun. There's definitely an improvement in technique and showmanship over the first time he did the Samba. It wasn't perfect but it definitely was fun.
Judges: Len says he's really come alive the last few weeks. Bruno said it was a crowd pleaser. Carrie Ann says he did well on the personality part but not so great with the technique.
Louie & Chelsie Dance/Song: Jive/"I Fought The Law and The Law Won" a la Sonny Curtis and The Crickets
Oof...it's a sort of rough one for Louie. There's was some really good stuff in there - he had high energy and his kicks were quick and sharp, but he had some sync issues. And he knew it as soon as they finished. Poor thing. He might have psyched himself out a little.
Judges: Bruno was impressed by all the content in a very short number. Carrie Ann was a little disappointed with both numbers. Len thought it was sharp, fast and clean but acknowledged he made some mistakes.
It's all down to the judges now and each voices their votes. Bruno says it was difficult but votes to save Louie & Chelsie. Len was pleased and disappointed by both numbers and somewhat surprising votes for Michael & Anna. Carrie Ann is the tie-breaker and, though she wants to take the whole season into account, she has to vote based on just tonight. And she votes for Michael & Anna.
Louie flips off the stage and, though he's bummed to go, he's very upbeat in his exit interview. Chelsie says she knows he's put in 100% effort the whole way through and she couldn't ask for more. I'm going to be sad he won't be around because he's just so darn cute and charming.
Agree with tonight's results? Surprised that Michael was saved? How'd you like the musical performances? Anything else you want to add?

I think Louie should have been saved Michael is bad just bad. He never gets any better and everyone just likes him because he is a football player. I am dissapointed. Louie was better this show has gotten really annoying
Michael should have been voted "OFF" as he is NOT a good dancer and, has made no improvement. His fans in Dallas are keeping him in the race however, he should have gone home three weeks ago.
If you're still curious who was dancing with Taylor Swift, the guy's name is DJ Guthrie who happens to be Lacey Schwimmer's boyfriend.
Not watching anymore this season
Louie and Chelsea were fun to watch
I dont want to watch people who have danced as singers I want to see people learn to dance
I was surprised that Kelly Osbourne survived again and didn't even have to dance off. But, of the two who did dance off, I enjoyed Michael's performance and found Louie's performance to be just plain awkward. So the only surprise is that the judges weren't unanimous in their vote. But, I think they do a lot of jockeying around like that to lessen the emotional blows to the individuals and to heighten the suspense.
Ultimately this whole contest is a popularity contest, so although they managed to slip in a couple of ringers on the girls' side, the smart money's on Donny and the whole Osmond fan following. Besides, he really is doing a helluva good job.
all 3 needed to go and natalie needed to come back, but since that can't happen i would have kept louie. not because he's better than michael, but because chelsie is a MUCH better teacher than anna who sucks so bad she can't teach michael to dance. chelsie would do wonders with michael. after ty i BELIEVE in the chelsie.
I just don't think it should be up to the judges to kick people off. Either it's all audience or not. I don't like having a double elimination either; there's no need for it at all. It just means everybody who voted for Louie & Chelsie wasted their time & I would be pretty ticked off if I had voted for them. Why should we bother to vote (or watch for that matter) if our votes don't mean anything?
Michael should have been the one to leave.
This debacle has really dampened any enthusiasm I had for this show this season. I am going to think really hard before tuning in next week.
I'm a fan of Taylor Swift's music ON THE RADIO but listening to her sing live is just plain awful. I missed her first performance but heard her perform Love Story. Have standards for singing in tune sunken this low?
I agree that Michael should've been sent home weeks ago. Louie was definitely in the bottom in terms of dancing ability but I really liked him and I thought he was a better dancer than Michael. I also agree that this show is supposed to be for people who have little to no dancing experience. Mya and Aaron Carter shouldn't even be on the show because they've had dance experience from being pop stars since the 90s. It's their job to dance so I have no idea how they are qualified to be on the show.
I liked Louie. He was fun, what the show should be about. It just gets to be a popularity contest. the better known names finish at the top. I'm probably done forf the year.
I really think Michael Irvin should have been voted off the show. He is just awful and very painful to watch. He is just terrible no energy/or flexibility. The guy is stiff and don't understand why the fans are bothering keeping him on the show.
