Remember the dreaded Week Two curse? This season's batch of contestants on "The Biggest Loser" decided to ignore that whole theory. And guess what? It worked!

When we last left off, Julio threw his teammate Alexandria under the bus and whined his way back into the game. Needless to say, the rest of the gang aren't so sure they made the right decision by letting him stay. But for now, Alison Sweeney has decided to make them all an offer they can't refuse. If they lose a combined weight of 150 pounds this week, no one goes home. If they don't, then it's double elimination time, baby.

Almost immediately, the younglings gather around Father Daniel, who has experienced the Week Two curse before. The plateau is pretty much proven scientifically by now. It's right up there with E=MC2. There's no getting around it. But Coach Mo gives a pep talk, huddle, break, and the dive for Gatorade. For some reason they're determined to keep everyone on the ranch. If it were me, I'd be trying to eliminate as many of my opponents as possible. Hey, it's half a million bucks people.

Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels decide on a game plan. Bob kicks their butts in the gym, while Jill talks their heads off about nutrition. And the amazing product placements are back, y'all! Ziplock! Brita! Protein powder! Subway! Get used to it.

Let's check on Tracey, our self-indulgent southern belle who totally screwed herself over by going too hard on the first day. Mo visits her in the hospital, where she cries and cries about lord knows what. Later, she returns to the house to fake smiles and hugs. They don't want her there, but nobody really says so.

Time for a pop quiz! Ali brings in Curtis Stone, celebrity chef and health food proponent. He's the kind of guy that women want to mate with. It's seriously not fair to the rest of us. Anyway, he talks their heads off for a while about portion control and calorie counts and whatnot. Then Alison begins the questions. If they get 5 out of 8 questions correctly, they'll get a 15 pound advantage for the weigh-in. So hopefully everyone actually listened to what he said rather than just stare at him. Surprisingly, they manage to get the questions right and lower the total weight loss goal to 135 pounds.

mozzizdewalt_thebiggestloser_s8_290.jpgTime to move on to the actual challenge. This one seems too easy, like the producers actually want them to win. They have to act as a team to get from raft to raft using balance beams. If only one person takes a tumble into the lake, they lose. For each raft along the way, they get more advantages during the weigh-in, or a phone call! Everyone flips a lid over the phone call, of course. The balance beams are pretty wobbly, along with Tracey's legs. Somehow, they make it over the entire course and celebrate their amazing accomplishment. Maybe it's just me, but this looked like the easiest challenge this show has ever produced. They also get a 20 pound advantage. Woot.

Bob and Jill are still on the war path. They decide to focus their pent-up frustration on Julio, who has been schlepping around the gym ever since he was granted a second chance. It's nice to see that Bob doesn't like Julio's whining. Give him hell! After a quick game of Tug of War, the last chance workout is complete.

Now for the moment of truth. If this show has proven one thing, it's that that the second week of weight loss is generally much less dramatic than the first. Can this group of contestants pull a miracle out of thin air and actually lose weight? In a word: yes. Someone was looking down on them that day. Not only did they meet their goal of 115 pounds, but they exceeded it. By a lot. They managed to drop 155 pounds, exceeding their original goal by five pounds! What the eff just happened? Bob and Jillian look like they've just witnessed a miracle. Which, they kind of did. And speaking of miracles, Julio must have remembered to say his prayers before bedtime. He was the biggest loser of the week with 19 pounds. Nineteen! This week sucks. We were supposed to see sad tears, not happy tears.

But did everyone catch the previews for next week? It looks insane. This season is going to be epic.

Why aren't you recapping each person's weight loss like previous years? This review is much too short.

Aimee I would have to agree with you this was much too short! It appears all the old re-cappers took off and left us with garbage I have yet to read one this season I've enjoyed across the board

Mo was great last night, but you have to wonder if his coaching will eventually backfire and people will start to tire of him.

Amazing weight losses for a 2nd week. Its hard to fathom people losing so much in 2 weeks.

Ahh, the return of the ZipLoc infomercial. Sell that product Jillian! Not to mention the overpriced Biggest Loser digital scale

Was anyone else hoping that someone would fall into the water from the beam.

Unlike the past few seasons, so far no one is standing out as a contestant that I want to root to win it all.

Bob seems to be going for a full body tattoo.

RudeBetty, I have to agree Coach was terrific last night and I can see how it can be his downfall later in the season. And the product placement...lemme tell you about this cool product that is a must for weight lost....man you know at what point in the show which product will be displayed.....they haven't switched it around in all the seasons its been on the air. Gotta love it!!!! I do know I don't think it will be fair if Danny wins. The preacher guy and the other guy with the young kids are on my list so far as hopefuls......but right now its way too soon. I wonder if we will have a Heba this season

Where's Sarah? No offense to the current writer intended, but Sarah's recaps were always better than the show itself.

So far, so good on this season I suppose. I would like to know more about what happened to Tracey -- yes, she went out way to hard on the 1 mile run, but she appeared to be in the hospital for days. (Everyone cleverly worded their interviews so as not to give a concept of time.)I would think that a more descriptive explanation of her injury or health issues would be beneficial for viewers at home who might be in the same situation.

And here we are saddled with yet another weepy male cry-baby. But this one is the cry-baby of all cry-babies! Can't remember his name, but he was blubbering throughout the whole show. When he called his family he was actually WEEPING. That gets on my nerves! Sack up, dude!

I disagree about trying to eliminate people to win the money. That type of behavior is for later in the game. No need to worry, people will be getting kicked out in short order. The better strategy is to give everyone another week--yourself included.

Mo's 'coaching' WILL get on some people's nerves at some point. He's a little too in love with his own 'wisdom' for his own good...

I hate to say it, but it looks like the girl who won her way on from the season 7 finale may not last long. Her weight loss was the lowest of the group, I believe. I'm still having a hard time believing that they let Daniel back on the show after mailing it in last go round.

in next weeks TVGuide, Alexandra and Antonie are shown. Both look great.

I wanna know what the receipe was that Curtis Stone had there with the pasta....and cumcumber.....yum!!!

I agree. I still do not think it is right for them to have brought back Danny. He had his chance now let someone else. I'll root for him only because I want to see them all get healthy, but I really do hope someone else wins the two prizes.

I wish they'd pick people who are slightly less heavy. Don't just go for the big weekly losses. How about average sized people who more of the audience can truly relate to. Imagine what they would look like after 4 months of exercise. I suppose that doesn't have the tabloid character that NBC wants for the show.

Did anyone else notice last night they mentioned their daily caloric intake and burn goals? I've only watched this show since Season 5, so maybe it wasn mentioned before but I don't think I ever heard them say it before. The contestants consume 1200 calories a day and the burn goals for women & men are 6000 and 8000, respectively!

I work out 5 days a week and my WEEKLY goal is 3500! (Granted, I am not overweight like the contestants nor do I work out for 10 hours a day). No wonder they put up such huge numbers! I assume this is safe as they must have medical supervision...but I was blown away!
