sharonosbourne_americasgottalent_290.jpgWith fifteen acts in, "America's Got Talent" names its last five semi-finalists. There'll be joy, tears, and maybe a little anger on my part.

Host Nick Cannon is sporting a velvet jacket and a blue ruffled button-up underneath. It's very 60's Sammy Davis, Jr. He introduces the recap from last night and gets the judges' reaction from last night. Piers Morgan thinks he was lenient on the buzzes, Sharon Osbourne is prepared to be shocked by the results just in case, and David Hasselhoff wants to give the performs a "standing Hoff-vation." He's reaching the end of his word-play list. isn't he?

Now, our first batch of results. Drew Stevyns and The EriAm Sisters are called forward and The Hoff and Sharon look like their going to fall of their chairs. The Sisters completely deserve to got through in my opinion...and stupid old America doesn't agree with me. Drew is through. Really? Horrible call. But wait! After getting some gracious words from the youngest EriAm, Nick announces they're through too. Sharon and The Hoff are on their feet. Drew asked why he did that to them and Piers called Nick mean. Sorry America, my bad. P.S. Nick says he was just doing what the results card told him to do. *Scoff*

After some behind-the-scenes filler, Nick brings African High Flyers, Pam Martin's Top Dogs, and Coney Island Chris to center-stage. AHF are the only ones out of the bunch I'd put through but I wouldn't be surprised if none made it. Well, it's bad news all around - they're all out. Coney Island Chris has glasses that squirt water as if he's crying.

Post the popcorn lounge package and some commercials and Recycled Percussion, Matt & Anthony, and Ishaara are called out to learn their fate. Matt & Anthony are the next act to go home. Rightly so since, as Piers pointed out last night, the tapping was WAY better than the singing. Sadly, America put through Recycled Percussion and sent Ishaara packing. It's hard to beat a tilted drumming platform and flames. The Hoff gave a lovely shout-out to the ousted dancers saying it's not the end of the road for them. Classy and not slurred. Good times.

Reba McEntire hits the stage to sing "Consider Me Gone." Yay Reba! I heart her. The outfit is a little weird to me though - a sparkly, sleeveless top with fringe at the bottom and pants. Was it just me or did it make her proportions look...off?

The remaining four acts - The Lollipop Girls, Mia Boostrom, Barbara Padilla, and Eric & Rickie - are finally brought forward. Only two will make it and, as it's grouped singers on one side and dancers on the other, it looks like only one of each is making it. The Lollipop Girls are sent home first which isn't a surprise. I refuse to believe they're not better dancers than last night's number showed.

Mia and Barbara are holding hands as Nick announces that Barbara is moving on to the Top 20. The Hoff and Sharon are super-stoked while Piers is pleased but contained. Ms. Padilla is extremely gracious saying it was an honor to be with the other acts and Sharon calls her perfect.

So it's down to the judges to pick between Eric & Rickie and Mia Boostrom. Those kids are great dancers but can they do an entire Vegas Espectaculaaaarrrrrrrr? Hoff-man gives and up and downside to each before voting for Eric & Rickie. Sharon compliments them both and casts her vote for Mia. Naturally this leaves Piers as the bad guy.

Before watching the playback of the show, he'd have voted for the Pint-sized Paso Doblers but he thought Mia was more impressive than he originally thought. After some thought and a brief pause, Piers finally casts his vote for Eric & Rickie and sends Mia home. Poor thing. She's crushed but is holding it together very well. Rickie immediately goes and gives her a big hug which she really looks like she needed.

Overall I'm fine with the results, though I think Mia is much more vocally distinctive than Drew. He chose the wrong song for his voice last night and, in my opinion, didn't do much to make it his own. Maybe he's better than he seemed but right now he's gliding on his "Sound Of Music"-esque good looks. Also, I think The EriAm Sisters deserve to make it very far but they might be better served not winning. They'll have their own album/TV deal at Nickelodeon/Disney/Cartoon Network by Christmas.

Agree with the results? Would you trade anyone out for anyone else? Now that we know who's in, care to guess the Top 5 and/or the winner? Any other thoughts?

Ishaara had a huge obstacle to overcome by opening the show. I liked EriAm and can see the talent, but I think they were out of breath with their song and it sounded very high school talent show to me. However, it seems on most of the voting shows, if not all, the act which goes last has a much higher chance of going through than they would have in another spot. On the other end, the act that goes first seems to have a lower chance. Perhaps people start tuning in late or have a short memory. Obviously, the last act seen will be what sticks in their minds most, good or bad. To be honest, I was not really paying attention when Ishaara was on due to my own life, so I can not say whether they should have moved forward or not.

I wonder, though, if producers deliberately end the show with an act they would like to see put through.

P.S. I love the recap show they had on Wednesday. I usually watch AGT on Hulu, but had trouble getting it to load this week. I was excited to find the recap show which recapped the acts and the judges' comments, but had no back footage/stories. I like to see the talent without the sob stories. Yes, you are a strong person if you have overcome obstacles in life and after you win, I may want to hear all about everything you have been through. But, when I am watching a talent show I want to see the talent only. If you were fed with a silver spoon and had a pony, it does not make you any less of a dancer and if you had a tragedy happen to you, it does not make you any better of a fire eater.

Between Drew Stevyns and the dark-haired, tattooed guy from Recycled Percussion (the one with the open shirt and low-slung pants, so you could see the tattoo below his navel)...I thought I was going to die. Holy hotness, Batman.

i really didn't want erick and rickie to make. thier are better child dancers in the world. Otherwise, i am fine with the results. i also wanted pam martin to make it, but of coarse she didn't. was it just me or did peirs say something in the beginging of the show that the dog act was lucky to not have been buzzed? I know peris's role on the show is to play the bad guy and all but america loves dogs, so he put his foot in his mouth when he sai that in my opinion. after that i just dismissed any comment or critisisum he had for the rest of the night. i really wanted ishaara AND recycled percussion to make it. take out erick and rickie and put in ishaara please. when do you do the interview with nick cannon andrea?

Oh and did you see the clip in the little montage of everything that happened last night where peirs compared mia to barbra and said she couldn't compete with her and then barbra pt her hands over he face and was just like "oh god i can't believe they actually told her she is worse then me and now i have to face her when she comes back in!" i couldn't believe it. do the judges know that contestants can see everything with that little TV back there?

The kids are cute but ready for Vegas???? I think not. I also would have preferred Isikara. I feel sorry for Mia but Piers is correct when he says she was not the best singer there. Also, Drew sounds like he has a sore throat and it therefore pains me to listen to him.

Cant believe the frisbee dropping dog got through and the really good dancing dog didnt. Erick & Rickie sure couldnt last through a Las Vegas Show. Would someone please tell Nick to stop saying, "Give it up for" and "make some noise, is that all he knows what to say. He is not a good host.

I disagree bridget i think nick is the best host AGT has had, way better then jerry springer and whoever else they had. He is younger and attracts a younger audience to watch the show. Sorry, but most people who are annoucing something or someone will use the expressions "make some noise for" and "give it up for". How would you introduce an act? i just think "please welcome" is very old-fashioned.

Point taken Haily RRR, maybe he is not such a bad host, but it is the amount of times he uses those two phrases that annoy me, try and broaden your vocabulary Nick!! I must admit he is kinda cute!

I thought Nick was at his best in the pre-taped audition shows with his backstage comments.

I must admit getting swerved by how they did the first two sets of results.

There's no denying now that there is a considerable handicap to going early in the show.

Looking at this week's lineup, the four acts that went through via the public vote went 4th (Padilla), 10th, 11th, and 12th.

I really thought I would see Kari Callin brought back in this week's show (8/26) - I am very disappointed since her audition performance was so favorable and far better than other acts returned - MAYBE it NOT too late - eh Sharon, Piers, David and SIMON???
