Your Final Four announced on 'So You Think You Can Dance'
The most cruel of all "So You Think You Can Dance" eliminations have finally come. Only four will make it to the finals...
The group number this week is to Judy Collins' "Send In The Clowns." Ugh. I could do without all the contestants dressed up like harlequin clown dolls. It's actually quite distracting. And creepy. Because I hate clowns. Seriously, I can't even objectively assess this one. Of course Tyce D'Orio choreographed it because apparently it's his mission in life to torment me.
Host Cat Deeley, who looked fab last night, is wearing a very sparkly green frock that reminds me of Christmas. Lil' C returns tonight along with Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe.
After a recap of last night and a commercial break, we get to the results for the ladies. The one girl guaranteed into the finale so far is Jeanine. Yay! This doesn't mean she got the most votes this week, just that she's in and I'm good with that. Mary and Lil' C stood up and applauded.
Next up, Jessica & Will return to perform the Tyce Contemporary number that was nominated for an Emmy - "Silence" from the "Unfaithful" soundtrack. It's nice to see these two again, especially since Jessica was given such a hard time last season. They do a great job.
Back from another break, it's time for the guys' results. And, to no one's surprise but Brandon, he's just been given direct passage to the Top 4. Our next flashback Emmy-nominated reprise is courtesy of Stephen "Twitch" Boss & Katee Shean performing "Mercy" by Duffy - aka the Mia Michael's Door Number. There was a bit of prop snafu - the door wouldn't stay closed - but they recovered/covered very well. They really attacked it - a fantastic job from two of my Season 4 favorites.
Chelsie Hightower & season 4 champ Joshua Allen return to perform their Dmitry Chaplin Tango to "A Los Amigos" from "Forever Tango," also nominated for an Emmy. Joshua shaved his head - I like it. And Chelsie's outfit is delish. Love those shimmy dresses. Bringing back the Emmy-nominated numbers is a great idea. They should do this every season.
As has been the tradition, the dancers on the verge of elimination get to perform solos as a farewell. Melissa and Ade go first, dancing the same routines and to the same songs as last night.
Next, Season 1 "America's Best Dance Crew" winners Jabbawockeez hit the floor to a really cool mix of "Freakazoid" by Midnight Star. They are so dope. I'm always in awe when they dance.
Tabitha & Napoleon were also nominated for an Emmy for "Bleeding Love," the Hip Hop number Chelsie & Mark "He Still Reminds Me of David Tennant" Kanemura did. It's still enjoyable and yay Mark!
Kayla and Evan do their solos next. I still find Kayla's a bit to frantic - there weren't really any moments to breath in there. And I still find Evan to be refreshingly, adorably entertaining.
Our musical guest on this jam-packed episode is Sean Paul, who I feel like hasn't had a new song out in years. I can't understand most of what he's saying and I can't tell if it's just the way the song is or because the audio is muddled. Also, I don't think all his back up dancers are performing at the same level. One of them in particular looks like she's dogging it almost every time she's on camera. Most unfortunate.
Now down to the nitty gritty. Between Kayla and Melissa, the second girl to make the finals is...Kayla. This turned out the way it should've considering who was on the board but Melissa's had a great, great run.
Between Evan and Ade, it's much less cut and dry. It could easily go either way and they both deserve the spot. And the one moving on is...Evan. Ade's really grown on me over the season and I'm sure will be getting all kinds of work since he's so versatile.
This is it, folks. Brandon, Jeanine, Evan, and Kayla are your Final Four. Disagree with the results? Care to prognosticate on the winner? How great was it to see all those Season 4 alums? Any other thoughts?

Excellent result.
while i can live with the women since jeannette is gone and robbed, evan no more deserves to be in the final four than phillip or kupono. he ran out of energy weeks ago but that cute cuddly white face who can't dance ballroom, latin, hip hop, or many other genres and has gotten lazy in his own lately has been incessantly praised by the judges for his cuddliness and swayed america to just move him along. he actually could win 'favorite dancer' and that is what is wrong with this show. it should be the BEST dancer, not favorite dancer. what is the point in dancing and critiquing if we're just suppose to pick the cutest bobblehead. this year's talent did not even come close to last year's although it seemed as if it was going to. but the judges continue to sway to get their favorites through. sometimes it backfires, generally it works.
i'd really like to see mary murphy off the panel and two rotating judges. i'd also like the voting public and judges' votes to have equal count but the judge vote not to be revealed until thursday nite so it doesn't sway the public. finally, make it an emphasis on the BEST not the favorite dancer.
oh and get hawk's dance troupe to perform their freestyle they did on ABDC. one of the most awesome pieces ever choreographed and performed.
That's exactly what I expected. My faves are long gone..so as long as Brandon wins it all..I'll be satisfied.
oh should have remarked about ade. friends who are professional dancers have listened to some of mary's comments on ade and gone wtf is she talking about. he was great. it was like she wanted to get him out of the contest, and nygel wasn't far behind. but we've felt that many times about other contestants when we've heard nygel and mary comment or seen the dances they've been ***igned, haven't we fans? NOT LOL
I loved the numbers from season 4. They were all fantastic. I hope they bring back the pas de deux that Will and Katee did last season too- that was beautiful! The results were as expected.
Can someone explain all the love for Evan to me, I just don't get it.
OMG--I am so done with Evan--I swear if he wins, I don't know if I can watch this show anymore!! I was so tee'd off that Ade went over Evan--it should of NEVER happened like that!! I do want Brandon to win, although I wouldn't mind Kayla winning either--I truly love her also!! I don't see all the love for Jeanine either, I really wanted Janette in the final also--boo hiss!!
Annie, I think the "brothers thing" focus during the preliminary rounds is still carrying Evan. It's the same problem on "American Idol" - some contestants get far more attention than others and that sticks in viewers' minds. I don't think it's quite as bad here as it is on "Idol," but it's still there nonetheless.
I predicted who would be going home tonight. I'm rooting for Jeanine or Brandon, but truly would not be surprised to see Evan win.
I think Evan wore out awhile ago, too, but I also think Ade had reached the limit of his potential. I never understood all the favor over Janette--good, but not better than Jeanine or Kayla. I think the 2 women and Brandon are definitely the 3 best. But I confess, I would love to see Jeanine and Kayla as the final 2, although I love Brandon. And Jeanine has something the other women are missing: charisma. I'm usually partial to the male dancers, but this year Jeanine is my girl for the win!!
I think the results are as expected.
I agree with MGC. Evan had a fanbase built in because of all the pre-top 20 stuff that he was given. I actually picked him to win the show when it was announced that he made the top 20 (and Ryan didn't). I had Brandon as his only competition and unless something huge changes next week it will definitely come down to those 2.
I was surprised in reading the comments on yesterday's show that no one mentioned how much Jeanine gets focused on during the video packs. In the 3 packs it seemed like it was all about her and her partner (or partners in the case of the all female routine) were all but ignored or made to look like her subordinates.
Also surprised that it was only mentioned once that Brandon did the same solo that he did during the auditions (with the same music). The judges giving that a standing O was a bit nonsensical to me as a result. It's not like there was ever a doubt that Brandon and Evan were the final 2 males.
I like the idea of bringing all the Emmy nominated routines back. I'm guessing we'll see the winner sometime during Season 6 in the fall.
I hope that we get some good quote/unquote draws next week in terms of the dancers being matched with routines. eg. I hope the Evan and Kayla don't get a ballroom routine. Also hope (just because it'd be funny to me) that Mia doesn't get to work with Brandon (especially after all the focus on her and him throughout the season). In fact I hope Mia does the Kayla/Jeanine routine because I'll be interested to see what she does when she doesn't have a male to work with (or focus on as her tendency leans towards).
I honestly think that the best way for Brandon to win (and I do believe that the judges/producers would prefer that he did) would be to have Brandon and Evan do a Broadway routine. That way if Brandon outdances Evan (and I think most on here believe that he would even in Evan's own style), he would have that and the judges would push the heck out of it.
Ok, post is long enough.
