Sophiabush_onetreehill_s5_240"One Tree Hill" takes a turn for the morbid again tonight, focusing on the ongoing saga of Peyton Sawyer and her murderous fetus. I don't know about you guys, but I'm really really ready for this baby to be born already. Or for Peyton to die, whichever will end the storyline first.

Peyton starts the show off by making a video for the child she may never get to meet. Because she's DYING, in case you somehow contracted a head injury and forgot considering they mention it every five minutes. The scene is a little bit touching, but....forgive me, because all I can think of when she is doing this is a strikingly similar scene in the superb series finale of "Dawson's Creek," and let's just say that Michelle Williams has a few more acting skills than Hilarie Burton. I love you, Hilarie, but it's true. It's not her fault the writers put her in the position to be compared, however, so I won't say anything else about that. Lucas catches Peyton in the act and gets angry at her for making a "death video" and completely rejects her idea to get married right away just in case. In the end he comes around and decides he can't wait one more minute to be Peyton's husband.

Apparently, a month has passed since the last episode and Sam has been visiting her mom that whole time, putting Brooke in quite the tizzy. Sam obviously wants to get to know her mother better but is feeling guilty about how it will make Brooke feel. Of course, right when Sam might be trying to pull away Brooke wants to pull her closer by adopting her. Victoria suggests that Brooke back off and let Sam explore her relationship with her birth mother, but this only makes Brooke push the adoption agenda even more. Sam somewhat reluctantly agrees to be adopted, but Brooke notices her hesitation and tells Sam she should go spend time with her mother instead.

Also in this episode: Peyton has a baby shower, Skills has a date with Jamie's teacher that gets crashed by the creepiest kid ever put onscreen outside of a horror movie (two words: ventriloquist. dummy.), Nathan gets scouted by the Clippers and Lucas and Jamie bond over the old photos in Peyton's death box.

Random thoughts:

  • I really enjoyed the Nathan/Lucas conversation about Peyton and the baby. Those two always have good scenes together, and it should happen more often. Remember when this show was all about the brothers? Ah, the good old days.
  • Mia's baby shower present was that Peyton gets to pick what picture goes on Mia's album cover. Umm....isn't that sort of her job already? Kind of a lame gift there, Mia.
  • The scene with Brooke and Sam in Sam's bedroom was quite touching. I maybe even sort of teared up a little bit. Maybe. Sniff.
  • Did anyone catch the "Stay out of it, Nick Lachey?" segment on "The Soup" this week? That Joel McHale, he loves to make fun of our show! Hee.

Next week: Peyton and Lucas get married! Julian returns! And so does...Nick Lachey? Alrighty then.

What did you guys think?

Oh, Please DC wasn't even on my mind When I was watching the Hilarie/Peyton scene. Also Hilarie was awesome she actually made me cry unlike other actress on the show. And Michelle did make me shed a tear maybe because I disliked Jen don't know. But didn't care for the chick if she died or not.

FIX... Didn't make me.

Quit watching the show in December. My approach to the series was that it was always SO BAD, it was entertaining, but that finally wore off.

The show should die, not just Peyton.

Jamie is the cutest kid ever!!

Was irritated w/Brooke-Sam storyline; maybe we are supposed to ***ume some things happened that we didn't see, but it seemed like Brooke let Sam go off to stay at bio-mom's without 1) actually meeting bio-mom herself; 2) setting up a time limit, i.e., Sam is going to stay for two weeks. It just seemed ridiculous, "Oh you wanna go stay with the lady I know nothing about and have never met -- okay, see ya around...sometime.... I guess..."

Also, we've got Nathan's b-ball career and Skills teaching Pee Wee basketball, but what happened to the RAvens and Lucas's coaching career? Did I just forget something, like the Ravens sucked, their season ended and there was no post-season? Wouldn't Lucas still have to go to work at Tree Hill High?

Allie2, great point! What the HECK is going on with Lucas' job at THH? I guess it's supposed to be the off season, but coaches work all year round. (As P.E. teachers, health teachers, etc.) Oh, well. No one ever said this show was realistic.

Hilarious! I love reading your reviews of a show I once use to love but now can barely make the time to watch.

Peyton will either die or they will renew her contract (which they haven't and they are thinking about getting ride of luck too) That is like getting ride of Brenda and Brandon on 90210 when the show use to be all about them. You know next season will suck without Luke and I do not see how the show plans to keep it's ratings. If any cast member should go it should be Deb, Skills, Brooke or the milllion of guest stars that have came into the show lately. If it was me, that is what I would do beside the show would be perfectly fine with Luke, Nate, and a little bit of Haley.

I also wanted to say that I saw the soup sketch on the whole Nick Lachey joke. That was hilarious, I mean that had to be the funniest thing I have ever seen on this show ever. It is right up their next to Dan's heart getting eaton.

Good review, Okay show, I hope they leave the cast the way it is and get ride of all these guest stars or an even better idea would be to end the show. And you are right about Dawson's Creek being a great show and a really good series finale.

omgggggg last nights one tree hill was soooo crazy!!!! i loved the fact tht lucas and peyton r finally married!! but i hated the ending sooooo much!when lucas found her on thr floor bleeding i started tooo cryyyy i swear to god if they kill peyton off the show i will never watch it ever again EVER!!!! KEEP PEYTON ALIVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I've always loved One Tree Hill. I agree, if Peyton is taken off the show, it will not be the same. Keep the cast the way it is. Also. I wish people would learn how to spell simple words so you know what or who they are talking about. A couple of these comments had me confused because of the spelling.

I have been watching this show from day one i love it!!!! I really dont like the fact that lucas and payton will not be back for next season how is that going to work they are two of the main character on the show it has always been about them. Now they are finally married and having a baby it just doesnt seem right!!!

I think they should keep peyton alive and have someone else have the problems for a while (more of brooke and julian) i love peyton and lucas together! they're cute. so are mia and chase! they should come more into the show.
