Tymurray_dancingwiththestars_s8_240 Oh "Dancing with the Stars." Sometimes you confuse me. But at least the elimination shows have been packed with interesting content.

Melissa Rycroft & Tony begin the broadcast with an encore of their perfectly scored Samba. Strangely, I feel like she's connecting with her dances more now after she's been injured - she's not living in her head. We get the recap next and I believe Shawn Johnson's Paso Doble was underscored. She totally deserved a 30 for that.

Tonight's musical guest is Jamie Cullum singing his version of "I Get A Kick Out Of You." It's from his first album, which I own and enjoy. There's a pair of pros doing a Quickstep but I couldn't possibly decipher their names enough to type them out (her name is Agnes, that's all I could catch). Major props because this is probably the fastest Quickstep I've seen in awhile.

Next is the first installment of "Dance Center" this season. Kenny Mayne and Jerry Rice (wearing a sparkly vest and bow tie with eyeblack and no shirt) return to be comedic foils to Len Goodman. It's both entertaining and odd as always.

Back from commercials, Gilles Marini & Cheryl are the first couple saved. The rest of the results will not be coming for awhile. Instead we get the last half of "Dance Center." I did not need to see Kenny and Len shirtless. P.S. Kenny needs a spray tan stat.

The Macy's Stars of Dance segment follows. Dee Caspary did the choreography (you may remember him as a dancer on "Kids Incorporated" or as Snitch in "Newsies") along with a guy named Mario somethingorother - I couldn't tell you exactly what his last name was since Samantha Harris started choking on the teleprompter and the audio was low. Oh hey, "So You Think You Can Dance" alum/season 2 runner-up Travis Wall is one of the dancers. Nice! I liked the number - it's the first time I've been able to sit through that Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" the whole way through.

Now comes the final test for the three remaining potential pros - teaching a celeb a routine in a week. Afton & Cody Lindley are up first. Cody likens her teaching vibe to Julianne. They dance a Samba to "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira feat. Wyclef Jean. While she did put in Samba Rolls, all in all I'm not digging the choreography. It seemed erratic and that had nothing to do with how spazzy Cody is. Len says she did a good job teaching and liked the choreography. Scoff. Bruno compliments her ability to get him to sell it. Carrie Ann thinks she'd bring a bright, youthful energy to the show.

After more adverts, Melissa & Tony are given their reprieve. Then we get to see what Mayo & Lisa Rinna have accomplished in a week. The rehearsal seemed to go well and his teaching methods appeared to be perfect. But the real proof is in their Quickstep to "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina & The Waves. Lisa was a bit flat-footed on her kicks but I think she did a good job, especially considering it's been three years. I liked the choreography - it wasn't typical but still had a lot of content. Bruno complimented Mayo on utlizing Lisa's assets. Carrie Ann thought it got a bit out of control on occasion but he managed Lisa's big energy well. Len, surprisingly, liked that Mayo pushed the boundaries tonight choreography-wise.

Anna & Maurice Green are the last to perform. He's never done a Tango and picked it because he wanted to see how she'd teach from zero. Her dress is fab and the music is actually appropriate. It's a Christmas miracle. She did a great job with Maurice and the choreography was good - interesting and full of great content. Carrie Ann is very impressed, saying they could be going to the semi-finals. Len says she's brought the most out of her celeb. Bruno called her a "miracle worker," adding Maurice has never danced better.

The next couple definitely moving on is Shawn Johnson & Mark leaving Lil' Kim & Derek and Ty Murray & Chelsie on the chopping block.

Lilkim_derekhough_dancingwiththestars_s8_240 To pad the broadcast a bit, Len is asked about the celebs in peril before it's revealed that Lil' Kim & Derek have been eliminated.

I call B.S. Chelsie was smiling before she realized what had happened. Everyone, from the judges to the audience to Ty, is shocked. Tom Bergeron took a moment to specifically tell her how much he enjoyed watching her dance. As disappointed as she is, Kim takes it very well. The band strikes up "Don't Stop" by Fleetwood Mac as Derek picks Lil' Kim up and spins her around.

No offense to Ty but he really should've been eliminated tonight. Are disappointed as well? Have a favorite potential pro? Any other thoughts?

Ty is a great guy and probably should have been eliminated tonight but he wasn't. He's worked very hard and I think he has just as much a right to be there.

It's Kenny Mayne, no S on the end of his name, he is easily my favorite sportscenter guy of ALL time.

Not surprised with the result while it might not be fair, Ty is more likeable than Lil Kim

Wow, did not see that coming. Lil Kim was such a vibrant dancer and an ***et to the show. I will miss her spunkiness and talent.

Ty should've gone home last week. He's a nice guy but he's not that good of a dancer.

What a load of BS. Granted, I don't think Lil Kim would have made it past the other 3, but Ty is a joke. Nice guy and all, but horrible dancer. I was going to say that this season has been a nice blend of audience votes actually saving people in the order they should have gone. (DAG went too early, and so did Chuck, but close enough.) Once again the popularity monster rears its ugly head. They have to do a 60/40 split so the judges votes have more weight.

WHAT?! r the voters crazy?!

l'il Kim was so much fun to watch. i thought her and Gilles were the best to watch. last night, i thought they underscored her, and now she paid the price. i think this show just took a sharp turn for the worse. i don't even like to watch Ty dance, his novelty is worn off and now it's just bad dancing. but now we're gonna get more omg?! why does the sudience want to watch bad and unexciting dancing when they could watched a grade A performer who brought excitement?

i also agree with Tamara that Shawn's paso was underscored.

BOOOOOOOOOOO!!! the judges and fans should be ashamed of themselves.

oh yeah--also, i usually hold my tongue about her, but Samantha is an abomination.

I hope the judges do to Ty what they normally do when someone that shouldn't still be there is....score them by comparing them with those that are left. In other words, give them a WAY low score. Ty should NOT still be there. There must be a ton of country fans voting.

I'm so glad Lil Kim is out! I was getting really sick of hearing about her "bionic booty". Puh-leeze. I like Derek, but I thought she was boring to watch. Now if we can just get rid of Melissa I will be a happy camper!

Lil Kim is not middle america's cup of tea.

those wal-mart shoppers do most of the voting
