Jenniferlovehewitt_ghostwhisperer_04_290 This week on "Ghost Whisperer," we have a creepy sort-of prophecy about Melinda's due date and her baby, a little girl running around with no face, and a wedding in the street.

Mystery of the Week
Melinda keeps having dreams that she gives birth to a bassinet full of hairless cats. Yikes. Then Melinda sees a little girl with a melty, no-features face in her house. The little girl tries to show her an old, leather book and keeps giggling. Funny how sometimes children's laughter is so precious and sometimes it's freak-me-the-eff-out scary. Later, Melinda runs into the faceless child again, who puts her hand on Melinda's belly and says, "You can't save her. You can't." Jim tries to reassure her that it's not about the baby and then spills the beans that they're having a boy, so it can't be about the baby. Awww.

The old book the little girl was holding turns out to be from the school's Von Drake collection. It is stolen by a local thief (who is actually being controlled by Carl the Watcher) and given to Zoe Ramos to protect, only Zoe is so surprised by the thief in her house that she falls down the stairs and dies.

Zoe's spirit hangs around to get Eli to protect the book because there is a man named Jeremy Bishop trying to find it too. He won't say who he's working for but he is clearly a bad dude. The book is called The Book of Changes and when Eli finds the book in Zoe's closet, it opens to a page that says: Jim Clancy 711, Sam Lucas 1411, Andrea Marino 2804, Eli James 310 and Zoe Ramos 2505. Creepy. (Also, I always thought Andrea's last name was "Moreno," but whatever.)

Eli crashes Melinda's wedding/baby shower to tell her about the book. When she holds it, she flashes back to Jim's death and realizes that each name is followed by the date the person died. Eli then shows her another page in the book. This one says "Melinda Gordon 2509," which is her due date. Now that is creepy.

Once Eli has the book and agrees to protect it, he and Zoe say their goodbyes and she crosses over. Melinda goes down into the Tunnels of Doom to see Carl the Watcher. He advises her to teach her child about the other side, not shield him from it, because her child will be able to do much, much more than she can. Very ominous cliffhanger in the supernatural part of the show.

The Wedding
Gordon Brady, ambassador of love and dreamweaver extraordinaire, shows up to plan Melinda's wedding, on orders from Melinda's mom. Yikes. It's like Mother-of-the-Bride-zilla with a Rupert Giles accent. He ditches the DJ and hires an orchestra, wants them all to arrive at the church by horse-drawn carriage and picks out an ice sculpture for the reception. At the end of the episode, Jim kidnaps Melinda (in a white dress and everything!) and the two of them (plus Delia and Eli) head to the street where Jim and Melinda first met. He pledges his eternal love to her and they get married right there on the spot, surrounded by white light ghosts. Awww.

Melinda isn't in her wedding dress, she's in a white dress she was wearing at her shower.

How about mentioning that the guy trying to find the book is some mind control freak working for some big bad known to the watcher? Seems like that's a big part of the mythology.

I'm starting to feel hyper critical b/c it seems like I am always commenting on recaps on this site for points that are missed or just plain wrong - am I being too critical? Are blogs on most "offical" entertainment sites similar in mistakes that are made?

Fixed, TMT. The wedding dress was an honest mistake, I figured she was at the shop doing wedding stuff and therefore having another fitting. It didn't get corrected once I saw that she was wearing just a white dress.

As for the bad guy, I think it's hard to tell if he's a one-shot for this ep or being set up as the big bad for next season, so I didn't want to get too off in one direction.

I miss Jay Mohr.

How sad is that?

It is in a different part of the book and may not be Melinda's expiration date, just the baby's birth date. She is suppose to "teach him" and she won't be able to do that as effectively from the other side as she can if she's alive.

DUHHHH! Melinda "dies" in childbirth has an encounter with a past spirit, and decides tocome back to live. It would be cool if they got Aiyesha Tyler back topay Andrea for the Episode, but she may not have left the show on good terms.

When is something really good gonna be on the show? It is getting to be a pain in the ,,,,,,,,

Marino/Mareno...maybe when they printed that page they forgot all about Andrea. I admit I had until the news came of Aisha Tyler's new talk show. Speaking of former co-stars, I wonder if Jay Mohr left the door open for a return to GW if CBS gives up on "Gary Unmarried" next week (and another network doesn't take it, of course).

Thanks Andrea :)

You're welcome! And don't ever feel hypercritical. I welcome corrections because I don't want my recaps to be full of mistakes. : )

I didn't get to see the ep. last night. Could someone please explain how the above numbers translate to dates? I know I'm probably missing something obvious, but I'm willing to take the chance! Anyone?
