Allisonmack_smallville_s6_240 In "Smallville" this week, Clark is suspicious that Davis the Beast isn't really dead. Chloe reassures him that Davis is dead, though she is currently hiding him in her basement and having sex dreams about him. Who does she turn to for help? The one-legged traitor himself, Felix Gaeta.

Chloe approaches Dr. Hamilton to find a cure for Davis because currently he can't be away from Chloe's calming presence or his beast goes nutso. With no assurance of a cure, Chloe agrees to run away with Davis that night.

Clark won't let sleeping Doomsdays lie and goes to Oliver, informing him that Davis's grave is empty and it looks like something clawed its way out. Clark says he's going to research ending Doomsday and dispatches Oliver to keep Chloe safe from Doomsday's obsession.

Jimmy's drug subplot is to try to borrow money from Oliver for his "car repairs," but Oliver sees right through the junkie's clever ruse and offers to put him in rehab. Jimmy huffs off. When Oliver arrives at Chloe's place to look for her, he surprises Jimmy stealing money from Chloe. Their confrontation is short-lived, however, as Davis the Beast attacks them both.

They awaken tied to some pipes in the basement. Davis reassures them that he'd never hurt Chloe because she saved him. They overhear Davis and Chloe's plans to leave Smallville and Jimmy starts losing it, taunting Davis. He eggs Davis on, saying Chloe doesn't love him and practically daring Davis to kill him. Davis starts to go all Caleb the Preacher on Jimmy but stops because he knows Chloe would never forgive him. He turns to Oliver instead but Clark rushes in to save the day, whisking Davis off.

Chloe blames herself for the beast emerging and tries to find Clark before it's too late. Clark has taken Davis off to the Fortress of Solitude. Davis beasts-out at the idea that Chloe won't be with him and a fight ensues.

Chloe shows up and stops the fight. She tells Clark he'd never forgive himself for giving up on Davis. Because Superman is good and true and light and puppies and unicorns and rainbows. Davis and Chloe teleport away.

Jimmy has Oliver searching for the beast, to no avail. Oliver advises Jimmy that maybe the beast he needs to be fighting isn't "out there," it's [points to heart]. Not really, but he might as well have. Oliver then "hires" Jimmy and hands over his first paycheck. Way to enable, Oliver!

Clark uses the Watchtower to try to find Chloe and won't listen to Oliver's arguments that Chloe might actually be in love with Davis and that he won't find her if she doesn't want to be found. Oliver then says that Clark can't save everybody and that eventually he'll have to make the tough decisions because it's what heroes do. Gag me.

Chloe calls him to let him know she's okay and asks him not to try to find them. She insists that she's protecting Clark by not letting him condemn Davis to a life as the beast, tells him that choosing the greater good is not a sacrifice and hangs up. I love the song playing, by the way. Anybody know what it is? Chloe and Davis drive off.

What do you guys think? Good episode? It was a little schmaltzy for me. Are we supposed to take away that every man just needs a good woman to calm his inner murderous rage? Hmmm.

I hate what they've done to Chloe this season, but it was almost worth it for that final Clark/Chloe scene on the phone. This show can suck hardcore sometimes, but when it guts the strongest relationship on the show, it actually *hurts* to watch it (in a good way). Bah!

I COULDN'T care less about the entire Davis Bloome/Doomsday storyline, but that's not Sam Witwer's fault, it's the writers. I haven't liked it from the very beginning of the season. This season probably ruined my view of Chloe forever and I don't think it can ever be restored.

I think Tom, Justin and Aaron did very well with the material they were given and I can't wait to see how Chloe's misguided actions lead to the final two episodes of the season.

I love the whole Doomsday storyline. And I was indifferent to Chloe but I'm really understanding her this season. She's not right in helping Davis but I understand why. I never watched Smallville regularly till this season but the addition of Davis and Lois/Clark finally at DP got me to watch. I'm a Superman canon freak so I could never understand Chloe's insertion into Clark's life.

I hope Chloe dies. She's useless.

this episode was awesome!!

God that was lame. I couldn't believe how crap the dialog was, even for this show. And the obnoxiously loud music overlay at the beginning and end...

Chloe used the be just about the only character that hasn't been ruined over the years, but now it seems the writers have corrected that oversight! And how the hell did she just turn up on the north pole - did she super-speed there? Argh!.

Okay episode, little surprised by Chloe's reaction to protecting Davis for Clark's benefit. If she was hiding him in order to protect Clark(he was created to kill Clark) fine, but it does appear she has real feelings for him. Heck send his butt to the PHantom Zone and be done with it. Chloe stopping Clark so he won't feel bad about himself doesn't make any sense. Nor does condemning herself to a life with Davis. Davis is always a threat to kill, and Oliver is right its Chloe's responsibility now. Which if the story ends the same way the cl***ic comic ends then; its bad news for Clark.

Damien,

Chloe showed at the Fortress using the Silver Octagon disk from past seasons and episodes. Its can be used to open a teleport from the Indian caves in Smallville to the fortress. The camera intentional pans to Chloe's hand and shows the disk when she appears on scene.

I thought Beast was one of the best of the season. All the acting was stellar and the phone call at the end between Clark and Chloe had more drama and emotion than anything I've ever seen before on Smallville. Chloe is trying to save Clark. Right now she's the only one who can. If Chloe hadn't shown up at the Fortress, both Davis AND Clark would be stuck in the Phantom Zone.

I would question Chloe's line about Clark never forgiving himself for condemning Davis to an everlasting hell if Clark hadn't pretty much agreed with her and let them leave (also nodding in agreement about this during the phone call), so at this point, Chloe is Clark's only hope (since he won't kill...dude should make an exception here.) Maybe Chloe seems foolish thinking Davis can be saved too, but the only way to really save Clark is to save Davis. Too bad they didn't read the comics to know it is a hopeless situation. Love how they are showing the depth of Chloe's commitment to Clark. Loved Clark losing it a little at the end. Die pink cabinets, die! Great drama.

Ollie is a ****, but that has been his schtick all season so he's good at it.

Re: how did Chloe get to the Fortress? She used the octagonal key, they showed her holding it.

I think the whole reason Chloe is doing this Davis thing is for Clark. She may have some feelings for Davis, but the whole killing people and being sent to kill Clark thing puts a damper in it. She was sacrificing herself so that Clark wouldn't have to. I kind of hope that Chloe gets killed in the end of this season (even though I really like her character), so that next season Clark can use her death to grow into the Superman hero he is supposed to be. I also hope that next season is the last (I mean how much self-discovery can Clark do before becoming Superman) and the showrunners know it is the last so that they can give the show a proper ending.
