'Smallville': Nobody holds a candle to Lois Lane in her black high heels

Ericadurance_smallville_s6_240Clark "Smallville" Kent is the one who needs to be saved this time as he tries to thwart an over-eager, wannabe crime boss who just happens to have Kryptonite stashed in the house that funny money built. Meanwhile, Chloe and Jimmy have seemingly moved on from their quickie wedding by engaging in their own shenanigans.

The Spoilers thought Lois had a toe on the line of looking like a bad Catwoman.

Yes kids, it's even possible for the mighty Lois Lane to be denied entry into journalism's biggest night: the Murrow Press Society awards. Chloe arrives to take her away, only to be carjacked and knocked to the ground. I'm sensing some pent-up frustration from Lois as she takes the law into her own hands by taking the slower baddie out while the other gets away. Just call her... Stiletto!

Ordinarily, our intrepid reporter wouldn't carry on a ruse longer than she absolutely has to, but when the editor won't publish her story of the incredible Stiletto without a photo, the persona stays. There's also the issue of Chloe's Watchtower laptop still in the recently hijacked car. While it's encrypted, it's not unhackable... which introduces Clark to the proceedings.

On the other side of town, Jimmy is now a bartender at the Ace of Clubs, unaware the management is in reality a crime syndicate ready to break out as the top gang in town. Bruno is a lieutenant within the group, chomping at the bit to pop a cap in anyone who gets in his way... even the boss himself. That'll teach him for moving too slow!

Her real objective is to score the interview with the Red/Blue Blur, so she has Mr. Olsen return behind the camera for some Stiletto publicity shots. Even Jimmy (fresh from the separation) can see this is a bad idea, yet Lois pushes on, posing provocatively to show off her newly homemade costume.

Later, those pictures come back to bite Jimmy as Bruno and his flunkies cycle through the flash drive, stumbling across the recent photo shoot. When he won't give her up, he gets the beating of his life by people not named Doomsday. In an unrelated incident, Lois and Clark both rush to the scene of a crime; her intentions being to draw the Blur to the scene, then corner him for an exclusive interview. Problem is Clark's the only one to show up, even going as far as seeing through her lazy disguise. He later uses context clues (and super-hearing) to determine the nefarious evildoings going on at the Ace of Clubs. What he doesn't expect is the Mason jars full of Kryptonite awaiting his entry into the counterfeiting room.

Aaronashmore_smallville_s6_240 Stiletto makes her way to the club, finding Jimmy precious camera in pieces just outside. She makes it to the roof to find Clark writhing in pain while Bruno and the bad guys do their thing. After quite the pregnant pause, she jumps through the glass and takes out one of the bad guys before nailing the landing. Lois then makes a move for the injured Jimmy, unaware Bruno is lining up his next shot. Even in his highly weakened state, Clark musters enough strength to dive in front of Lois just as the bullet passes through, hitting our hero in the side. Jimmy is the next hero by distracting Bruno long enough to have Lois pop him in the head with a bottle. The two help Clark leave that evil place. Chloe takes out the trash, only slightly freaking out when she finds blood on her hands.

The next day, Lois brings Clark breakfast. She's a little more subdued about being above the fold this time around. Of course, if he hadn't been there, there might not have been a happy ending. You're welcome, he says. Lucky for all of us, she's hanging up the heels for good. Later, Jimmy pays a hefty price to reacquire his belongings. Speaking of, Clark returns Chloe's laptop for free. She says she's fine, though it's clear she's perhaps been through the ringer one too many times this season. All she needs is space.

Lois arrives at a pre-determined spot, only to find a ringing pay phone. Using a device to alter his voice, Clark is on the other side revealing himself to be the Blur. He doesn't seem to be a fan of the name Red/Blue Blur or skywriting as a message service, but if it's an off-the-record chat he wants, Lois is only a phone call away. We end with a certain sense of satisfaction on both their faces.

Those crazy kids...

Next week, Chloe has the ability to save Davis, but doesn't want Clark to find them.

This episode wound up being better than I thought it would be. After watching the teaser I thought this episode was going to be quite cheesy, but I was wrong. There were quite a few good moments. I loved it when Lois as Stilleto tells Jimmy -- I was going to sew an "S" into the chest. Is that tacky? And I loved the shoutout to Superman the Movie when Lois tells Red/Blue Blur -- Can you read my mind? Lois and Clark. What a team.

I loved the shoutouts too. Superman references always make me happy. I also loved that Jimmy, Lois and Clark all saved each other. I hope they continue with this. That they had them in another scene together without the other main characters was great.

ERica Durance got an old horse face and huge silicone bags inside her chest.

i think theres like a paragraph missing??? like what happened to chloe, and why does it go from jimmy at the club to "her real objective..."???? totally missed something, horribly written as well. where's the whole chloe/doomsday part??? technical glitch or bad recapping????

You know, this ep finally solidified Erica Durance as Lois Lane for me. I've always thought she was a p***able Lois, but never saw much chemistry between her and Clark. But the scene with them on the phone, and she wasn't being screechy, but played it vulnerable, that sold it for me. I also love that things are looking to follow the mythology and is moving away from the bland eps from weeks (and seasons) past. I almost didn't watch last night b/c I've been getting bored, but I'm very happy that I tuned in. From what I'm reading, this season should end with a BANG and next season looks to be stellar!

Erica Durance is a farce and an embarr***ment. Lois has turned into a peek show. She looks stupid and her dumb look of pushing out her fake boobs to bait the viewers should be reconsidered by the producers. She has no sex appeal. She looks like a old horse.

Erica Durance is amazing as Lois, way better than Kate Bosworth. She is spunky and strong, but vunerable at the same time. She's great.

This episode was a lot of fun. Some of the dialogue was clunky and the pacing was...off. But I loved the Superman shout-outs and the way Smallville is turning it into their own. It was so great to see Lois, Clark and Jimmy together - we need to seem them working together more!

I get that Chloe is having issues, but am I really supposed to feel bad for a (supposedly intelligent) woman aiding and abetting a murderer?

Yes, Lois got carried away - how hilarious was her fake accent and 'return to the batcave' - but what I like about the character is, she's willing to admit her mistakes and learn from them. She's human.

I have to say, that last Lois and Clark scene at the Daily Planet was fun to watch. The lighthearted flirting -- and Clark playing up his 'injury' was the cl***ic Lois and Clark relationship I love. And the end scene with the phone booth was very iconic. I loved it! And I love seeing Clark looking so...determined and, dare I say, happy.

If this is a glimpse into what's coming for season 9, I can't wait.

This was an okay episode till Clark gets get done in by kryptonite again. Are we really to believe the bad guys liquified 'K-rock' a process in past episodes shown to be expensive and use it as ink for counterfeit money. You could get away it in Smallville because of the metor showers, but this is Metropolis not a place ripe with the special K. Seemed like an easy crutch.

Chloe and her dealing with dAvis in the basement was the best part of the episode.

What made it for me was the reinforcement of Lois not wanting to hurt the superheroes because she cares for them. It makes a noticeable difference between her and Lana, especially this season, and Clark's admiration for it -- not to mention his ability to play with her like at the end -- really underscores that the producers understand the key points of the Lois & Clark relationship that works. These regular teases are what made Smallville work in the beginning, and it looks like we're finally get that as the main point of the series again.
