Hollymadison_dmitrychaplin_240 It's the second cut but the third week of "Dancing with the Stars." Though I wasn't with you the first time through (thanks for filling in Andrea!), I'm ready to hold your hand through this hour of power.

Spoilers

During the time-manipulated recap of last night, they say The Woz received the lowest score in six seasons of the show. I'm sure Master P is the last culprit.

Afterward, Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris let us know that Melissa & Tony, Gilles & Cheryl, Shawn & Mark, and The Woz & Karina are all safe. Karina screamed and jumped up and down before hugging Steve Dub. Wow, I've never seen her that excited to not get cut.

Post commercial break, we get a surprisingly non-awkward backstage interview with the first four celeb survivors. Next, Tom reveals that Lawrence & Edyta, David & Kym, Chuck & Julianne, and Lil' Kim & Derek won't have to dance again.

Our first bit of filler is a taped segment showing us what we should be looking for in next week's "new" dances, The Lindy Hop and the Argentine Tango, featuring everyone's favorites Cloris Leachman and Corky Ballas. I know you all missed them.

Hall & Oates takes the stage next to sing "Maneater" with an oddly Country flaver to it. Maks, Tony, Dmitry & Karina are the accompanying pros. Karina's outfit reminds of the final number in "Staying Alive" - it's 80's-tastic.

Edytasliwinska_dancingwiththestars_s8_240 After another set of adverts, Adele performs "Chasing Pavement" while Alec Mazo and Edyta get their Rumba on. I really like Adele and her album is great. Hooray for people who can sing!

Before we learn who's in the bottom two, aka "The Dance Off," we get more filler about how it works and what the celebs allegedly think of it. A good chunk of it is recited lines but whatever.

Now, who's in the bottom? Steve-O & Lacey are safe but Holly & Dmitry aren't as lucky. Ty & Chelsie are also safe leaving Denise & Maks on the potential chopping block. Ha! It took a week but I was right. This will be interesting since they're equally awkward in slightly different ways.

Holly & Dmitry
I forgot to mention last night that there was a lift but it was so bleh overall that it didn't really matter. The technique still wasn't great but at least it wasn't as bad as before.
Judges: Len congratulated her on not being as wooden at last night, Bruno gave the note to attack the music harder, and Carrie Ann of the Lift Police likes that she tried to keep her foot on the ground.
Score: 18 (all 6's)

Maksimchmerkovskiy_deniserichards_dancingwiththestars_s8_240 Denise & Maks
The song is just as terrible tonight as it was the first time around. Actually it was worse. Ugh, so awful to have to dance to that. It wasn't as bad as last night but it was still awfully awkward. It might not have looked so bad if I muted it but probably not.
Judges: Bruno is impressed by how much she improved overnight and advises to build a character around her numbers, Carrie Ann agrees, and Len thinks she deserves to stay.
Score: 20 (6-7-7)

After all is said and done, Denise & Maks have been eliminated. She takes it well saying that her daughters like her dancing and that she'll continue to be a fan of the show. One big reason Holly got more votes I'm sure is because of Dmitry - he's man-pretty.

Do you agree on who got axed? Did either really improve at all? Are you digging this new filler-light format (I am)? Any other thoughts?

So during the show I got a little annoyed at the 2½ minute long (yeah, rehearsed) piece that had the dancers all telling us what the dance off is all about. Didn't Tom Bergeron sum that up for us in about 30 seconds in the season opener? Why do we need it spelled out again?

After the results, I'm thinking maybe they should do another piece next week explaining the percentages and how the judges scores can affect the outcome. =)

Not that I will miss her, but I thought Denise did a better job tonight and had a redeeming performance. Clearly we're not privy to the numbers, but America must really not have liked Denise for none of that to matter.

I will say, I just saw her on Jimmy Kimmel and she just doesn't seem like a pleasant person. Woz and Holly aren't great dancers, but like Jules said, "Personality goes a long way."

glad to see Denise go.

yeah quisquilian, Denise should watch herself on the show and see that she needs to lighten up a bit--no, A LOT!! Holly was just as bad, but i find myself rooting for her more. wish she could find more confidence because she seems sweet. and woz is taking this for what it is and just having a good time. cheers to him.

i didn't watch the show so thanks for the recap.

Denise is very unlikeable.

I don't think it mattered which one of the Barbies left last night. They both sucked. At least now we won't have to watch Denise's forehead-vein-from-heck expand to the point of exploding any more! I feel bad for Maks and Maks-Lite getting stuck with such no-talent partners!

Oh, and Holly's inane giggle is enough to make a grown woman scream!

Annoying laugh or not, Holly is much more pleasant than Denise, had less training time (in a few more weeks it wont matter, but this early it still makes a difference) and a new hot partner. I didn't think Denise deserved to stay based on any of her performances either. Who would have thought before this season started that Maks would have left before Karina when you saw their partners?

Karina was so funny- I think she just couldnt believe they weren't in the bottom 2. The dance to the Hall&Oates song was cute too.

Love Adele, one of my favorite artists right now. Good to see great singers on the show from time to time.

It is hard to believe that the Woz didn't land in the bottom two. I did think that Denise had a better dance last nite, but I don't think she would of been able to improve much over the next couple of weeks. She's just to uncomfortable with dancing.

I thought Hall and Oates seemed a bit 'off' with their performance, he hit some bad notes.

I've been listening to Adele for over a year now. CBC had her on the radio and gave her a good interview, that was when I bought her CD '19', although it was hard to find at that time, no one knew of her. I'm glad other people are starting to enjoy her music.

GO WOZ!

It looks as though the Woz has a large fan base (or an anti-fan base out to punish him). Wouldn't surprise me if a computer program is generating votes for him. This may be another Cloris Leachman situation where he outlasts dancers who are halfway decent.

As far as the results are concerned, I'm happy that Denise Richards is out. Given my druthers, I'd prefer it was her over Woz or anyone else just because she seemed so very unhappy and uncomfortable.

(It occurs to me that I have no idea of the nature of Holly's claim to fame.)

Denise Richards was like a Barbie doll dancing - the kind from the 60s whose arms and legs wouldn't bend.

I think it's hilarious that two supposedly uber-sexy women - Denise and Holly - have absolutely no charisma or rhythm or sexiness on the dance floor. But supposedly less-sexy (i.e. bigger than a size 0) like Marissa Winokaur made it through many more weeks of the competition because they did very well.
