'American Idol' Results Show: No real surprises here
Seacrest welcomes us to the first American Idol results show. He informs us that 10 million more votes were cast than this time last year. Idol appears to be as popular as ever.
And now... THE GROUP SING! One of my favorite parts of the semi-finals and finals. It's so cheezy and awful. Tonight Brent, Michael and Anoop kick us off on "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz with some snazzy snapping and swaying. They send it over to Stephen, Danny and Ricky. This is making me flash back to show choir camp (yes, I went to show choir camp). Tatiana, Casey and Ann Marie try their hands and do okay, and then Stevie, Jackie and Alexis have a turn. Stevie has a nice solo before the "We Go Together" partner dancing starts. And we end with the requisite hand-in-the-air move. Oh, Group Sing. How I've missed you!
We now spend 15 minutes reliving last night. If you need a recap, read this. I'm not recapping a recap of last night. Bloop bloop bloop (that's the sound my TIVO makes).
Finally some results. Casey Carlson is brought down to the Circle of Death first. Just a side note: Circle of Death is the lesser-known Lion King hit. Anyway, Casey is (OF COURSE) not through. Stephen Fowler is next and he isn't through either. He tries to defend his performance/song choice but we all know better, don't we? Finally, we get Alexis Grace as our first contestant through to the Top 12. She is the top-vote-getting female. She sings "Never Loved a Man" again and it's good again, maybe better than last night.
Our next group of results starts with Jackie Tohn and Ricky Braddy. Neither of them are through and I am not surprised. Jackie was bad and Ricky hasn't had enough screen-time to be popular, which is an unfortunate feature of this show. Our next pair is Michael Sarver and Anoop Desai. Wow, Anoop is TALL! And then I think Randy calls Michael fat. Snerk. And then Michael is through to the Top 12. I'm not shocked. He's so likeable. Michael sings "I Don't Wanna Be" again and he is clearly more relaxed tonight because his stage presence and personality is 100% better. There is still room for improvement, but he's so much better tonight. Right before the break, Seacrest informs us that only 20,000 votes separated Michael from Anoop. At the time, I suppose that could've meant either Michael was the top male vote-getter, or that he was the next highest after the top male and female. But we all know now that it means Anoop came in 4th.
Interlude about the American Idol Experience, complete with a David Cook/Carrie Underwood duet of "Go Your Own Way." Ohhh, those two should get married and have cute, talented babies. Sigh. I heart them both, plus that's my favorite Fleetwood Mac song.
Seacrest calls down the next two contestants and Michael Johns and Carly Smithson take the stage. I'm a big Carly fan, I LOVED her "I Drove All Night," "Crazy On You" and "Come Together" last season. They sing "The Letter" by Jefferson Airplane. It's very entertaining, I enjoy it.
But now we are down the last results. Stevie Wright, Ann Marie Boskovich and Brent Keith are told to stand up and then none of them are through. No big shock there. That just leaves us with Tatiana del Toro and Danny Gokey. Well, this is no contest. Danny is the last of the Top 3 from tonight. Thank god. I hope Tatiana doesn't come back for the Wild Card round because I've had just about enough of this loony.
Danny sings "Hero" and it's good again. I just can't over how much I love this guy. I just wanna hug him. Sorry, I know. But I can't help it. He's just so cute and earnest and squishable.
We now get to see the second group of performers set for next week: Megan Corkrey, Kris Allen, Mishavonna Henson, Matt Breitzke, Allison Iraheta, Matt Giraud, Jasmine Murray, Kai Kalama, Jesse Langseth, Adam Lambert, Jeanine Vailes, and Nick Mitchell. My early predictions are Jasmine Murray, Adam Lambert and Kai Kalama.
I'm not shocked by who made it through this week and since I thought the third spot could go to any number of people, Michael Sarver is okay with me.

No what else wasn't a surprise tonight? Tatiana completely losing what little composure she had after she found out she didn't make it.
Anyway, I'm sorry to see Casey blew it, she was really cute.
Anoop should've been in Top 12 over Sarver.
Let's hope Anoop gets the WildCard.
Danny was the top male vote getter. Ryan said on the show that Anoop came in right behind Michael...4th place.
I must have been furiously typing and missed that. Thanks, Michelle! Fixed.
Goggles was the highest vote getter according to dialidol. He's ****y and a little fake, no? At least Simon hasn't drunk the danny kool aid yet. I don't see Michael lasting very long if he does country every week. Anoop and Ricky would progress better week to week if given the chance. And we haven't seen the last of Tatidrama haha! The drama crazy producers will dangle the carrot once again!
I was surprised that Tatiana didn't make it; I was so sure she would. I hope they bring her back.
ricky got robbed
I think I saw the dead wife sitting out in the audience.
It was The Boxtops who had the hit single The Letter, and not Jefferson Airplane, although it did include the opening line: "Give me a ticket for an aeroplane." :-)
I need for someone to dress Alexis in actual clothes. Ones that suit her size and coloring (minus the pink-tipped hair). The other night she had on a black nightie that made her look so pale and skinny, and last night she did herself no favors with the hat and vest and boots. When do the makeovers begin?
Meanwhile, I don't know if it's Danny or the producers who are exploiting his widower status but it's feeling very tacky and if I were the wife's family I'd be pretty distressed.
