'The Hills': Dream a little dream, Whitney
Previously on The Hills... Audrina went all crazypants but Lauren decided to put it behind her and be friends again, Stephanie's new boyfriend didn't stand up for her and Spencer was a jerk about it, and Whitney met Jay the Aussie in NYC.
People's Revolution. Kelly offers Whitney an interview to be PR in-house with Diane Van Furstenberg. The job is in New York.
Audrina's house. Aud and Lauren bond over her bachelorette pad and Lauren wonders at the use of the word "bachelorette." Audrina still wants Justin but she's not sure he wants her. Lauren then tells Audrina that her parents are moving out of Laguna Beach, so she and Lo have to go pack up her old high school room. Man, that's a bummer. Audrina sagely says, "That's kind of like growing up." Oh, these girls.
Stephanie has lunch with Spencer. She doesn't know what to do about Cameron, her hot n cold boyfriend. Spencer says if Cameron can't drive 15 minutes to see her then it's time to break up with him. He knows she can do better than Cameron. Wow. Hello, kettle? This is Spencer. You're black.
People's Revolution. Whitney spills to Lauren about the job. Lauren is excited for her, like a good friend should be, and a little sad about her moving, which is legit. She also tells Whitney she has to see Jay and drops our episode title, "Dream boy, dream job!" Heh heh.
Falcon Restaurant. Stephanie brings Cameron to dinner with Spencer and Heidi. That seems smart. Spencer lays into him and while I appreciate that he's protective of his sister (look, I can say something nice about Spencer!), he's being a passive-aggressive snot about it and it's also a little hard to swallow, seeing how he treats his own girlfriend and her family members.
NYC. I know I'm a Midwestern hayseed and all, but I am struck by how Elizabeth the Assistant, Alixe the Interviewer and Whitney are all wearing pretty tight clothing and, like, stillettos, at work. WTF? Whitney is a decent interviewee but she drops more Valley Girl-speak than I care for. Alixe asks her how soon she can start. And since her spin-off is starting soon, we all know what happens.
Steph's apartment. Cameron drops by and Stephanie breaks up with him. Again. She cries and he looks impassive. She declares that she deserves better. Is it just me, or did we not see hardly any of this "relationship?" What did he do that was so wrong? Does anybody else feel like we don't see a lot of stuff on this show?
Lo and Lauren pack up Lauren's old bedroom, which is adorable. She reads a fairly intelligent and sweet diary entry she wrote when she was 15. She also finds her "will," where she asks to be buried in her homecoming dress with her tiara on the coffin! Oh my god, I could not love Lauren more. Lo and Lauren talk about making their home in LA their "home," since they don't have the Conrads' place anymore. Awwww.
NYC. Jay the Aussie shows up post-interview and they hug and touch each other a lot and then she runs off for the airport. He dragged his ass down there for that? Lame.

C'mon they work for Diane Von Furstenberg of course they are gonna come to work dressed that way. It's New York. It's the fashion industry! Duh!
This show seems more and more edited by the second. Next weeks episode will show Speidi's wedding and whitney leaving which actually happend months apart. This may as well be a sitcom its becoming to contrived!
yeah there is a lot we don't see. we weren't invested in stephanie-cameron, so the tearful (from steph's side)breakup scene was just kinda silly. maybe this was the show's way of introducing cameron into the show?
liked, NO LOVED! seeing laguna and LC's house and parents there. liked seeing LO there with her too.
this whole whitney goes to NY thing is so contrived it just feels stupid. plus talk about a bland character (whitney). i think they tried to ****e her up with that whole dump one cute guy for another cute guy thing. but anyway i don't think i'll be watching her new show. it's enough i watch the hills already.
p.s. i would definitely drag my *** out to see someone i'm really feeling it for if we were on different coasts and i had a chance to see him, even if for only 5 minutes!
Dream job, dream boy my sweet patootie. Both seem awfully superficial to me, and not particularly ideal, even if they do have some perks.
I'd have to agree that the lead-up to Whitney's spin off has been mightily contrived. I understand she's been going around in interviews claiming that part of the reason she wanted to do the show was to be a role model ...
I will not comment further on that.
Did anyone else see the Aftershow when the male Canadian host speculated from Whitney's and Jay's touchiness in their scene after the interview that they'd "had a sleep-over"?
Good call. It happened that first night she picked him up in a bar instead of the other guy she'd been texting from California. Hello. Casual Sex, speaking.
I thought Whitney looked just right for her interview. DVF is high-end fashion and she fit in pretty well with the rest of the employees we saw. If you're going to make it in the fashion industry you have to dress stylishly. There are no excuses or casual Fridays in that business. Appearance is key.
That having been said, though, Jay totally revealed the current level of his interest in Whitney by telling her that she looked "hot" in her dress and heels and by repeatedly calling her "babe" instead of her name. Whitney revealed her current level of interest in him by not understanding his accent enough for him to have to repeat himself once and for her to ask him to repeat himself another time.
Dream boy, indeed!
It sucks that Lauren's family is moving again and they needed her to pack up her bedroom. That happened to me after I moved out and it was very sad; not to mention A LOT of work. I think she handled it well and didn't seem as squeamish about growing up as Lo seemed.
So sweet.
Check out my TV blog.
I'm not really feelin' Whitney's new beau, but I'm glad she's got someone, and I hope it works out. They sure seemed into one another during the two seconds they spent together.
