Week 7 results on 'Dancing with the Stars'
It's been seven weeks and there have been few surprises on elimination night this season of Dancing with the Stars. Will tonight be on of those nights? Don't bet on it...
Spoilers
After the recap of Monday night, Len introduces Team Paso Doble for the encore. Eh. Thank goodness I watch this on Tivo delay. Fast forward anyone? P.S. Every time I see Brooke Burke smile during the number it kills me. Uh, hello, no smiling in the Paso. The face is supposed to be fierce not just blankly pretty.
Back from a commercial break and after a painful interview segment, Lionel Richie returns to the ballroom to perform his new single "Good Morning." He must not be able to hear the music because he sounds out of tune. Or maybe it's just the effects on his voice? Perhaps he's sick and that's why it's so effects heavy? Lots of reverb and echo. Anyway, Alec and Edyta do a Rumba to the song. They're very good. It's always nice to see the pros dance with other pros and show what they can do.
The first couple saved is Maurice Greene & Cheryl. You know, it's weird but I used to like Cheryl and now I'm rocketing toward ambivalence. She should take a season off.
Returning from another break, we get our first DanceCenter of the season with Kenny Mayne (with a bejeweled cheek and lots of blush), Jerry Rice (wearing an afro-wig and jewels on his eyebrows), and Len. They talk about Warren Sapp and Susan Lucci, the "World's Largest Ballroom Dancer" and the lightest contestant respectively. They also talk about Maurice in this first segment.
Next up, the Macy's Stars of Dance routine featuring Dave Scott (most famously of You Got Served). The theme of his number is magic. The song starts out with a remix of "Magic" by Pilot and transitions to a remix of the new Robin Thicke single of the same name, but it's a totally different song. Dave starts out solo and more dancers come out later, working in magic tricks as they dance. It's a Hip-Hop number with breaking elements. It was a cool little number, though a smidge gag heavy.
Post yet another set of adverts, DanceCenter returns and covers our remaining contestants. Kenny of course brings up the cosmonaut thing for Lance Bass. Len says Brooke Burke's strength is she has no weaknesses. Lies all lies. Under Cody Linley's notes it says "not a man yet" and "BIG eyebrows." Wow, nice. The segment wraps up with Len teaching Kenny a proper hold for Ballroom dances. Hilarious.
Now, revealed once again in no particular order, Brooke & Derek are saved followed by Warren & Kym leaving all three couples in Team Cha Cha on the chopping block.
After another break, Lionel Richie returns to perform "Dancing on the Ceiling" with Kym, Cheryl, Maks and Tony dancing. No vocal effects on Lionel this time. Still a little off and his voice sounds a little strained. He's more talking it out than singing. He must have a cold...or was shouting a lot yesterday. And wow, nice haircut Maks. You should always have short hair. Woof. And big ups to Tony for the nice save during a botched lift with Kym.
Our last bit of filler tonight (hopefully) is the celebs talking about what's easy, what isn't, and how to cope with the stresses and difficulties of the competition. Surprisingly, Warren really digs the costumes. His favorite part is the outfits.
Back from our last break, we return to what we're all here for...the results. Lance & Lacey are safe leaving Cody & Edyta and Susan & Tony in the bottom. No surprise there. Also no surprise is the news that Susan Lucci has been eliminated.
Oh, how I adore my La Lucci but it was her time to go. If only her storylines on All My Children were lighter right now she'd have had more time to practice. She is all smiles and grabs that mic in Samantha's hand and thanks everyone for what was an incredible experience for her. She gets a standing ovation and I want to hug her because she reminds me of my mom. She and Tony dance to "Hit the Road Jack" with big smiles as the other contestants rush out to hug them.
I shed a single tear for La Lucci but it was her time to leave us. What are your thoughts? Were you at all surprised at the results? Did you enjoy tonight's filler?

I think Susan Lucci did a great job, she improved each week with each dance. She brought a lot of cl*** to dwts. She is a beautiful lady and seems like a very nice person. We should all be blessed enough to look like that in our sixies. I think she will be missed by many.
oops sixties spelling error
Tamara: "P.S. Every time I see Brooke Burke smile during the number it kills me. Uh, hello, no smiling in the Paso. The face is supposed to be fierce not just blankly pretty."
YEAH!
and i agree, it wouldn't hurt Cheryl to take a season off!
wow, someone posted on last show's recap comments these exact results, and they were spot on. anyhoo...i have to say i was happy to see la-Lucci go. she did seem like a nice lady. lucky you if she reminds you of your mom. thank god Cody was safe.
no, i did not like the filler except for the dance center, i always like that. fave line: Len to Kenny, "what you were on the show like one week and you did a not-so-great cha cha cha and now you're an expert?!" (or something like that), hahahahaaaaaaaaaa....
Warren's fave part...the outfits. oh dear. :)
Relief. I like Susan, but it was her time. I was really afraid that horrible team dance format was going to send Cody out the door. That would have been really unfair, when he was already at a disadvantage working with a new partner.
Last night was just an exhibition, so I had no problem with Brooke and Derek being happy and smiling while they danced. It was a great dance! And I thought Susan did well considering she works and lives in New York, and the show is in LA. She probably didn't get all the practice time the other couples had.
Boney knobs!!! I think it's great that Len can spoof himself like that.
As we all predicted on Monday, Susan would be the one eliminated. I really enjoyed seeing that La Lucci isn't at all like her diva character Erica Kane. Susan was always cl***y and humble, but it was her time to go. She couldn't handle learning two dances per week, especially with the weekly commute between NYC and LAX. :-)
I actually enjoyed Lionel Richie's performances, even if the vocals were a bit off. It's so good to hear the original singers, instead of the DwtS house band! After all these years, I still love 'Dancing on the Ceiling', and I liked when they used it in last season's cha cha dance-off with Kristi, Jason and Cristian.
Of course, the best part was Dance Center! I liked when Len told Kenny that he shouldn't use this show to promote his own projects, and then Jerry Rice says, "Buy Jerry Curl hair gel!" By the way, I love how Jerry and Kenny always wear the sequined shirts and eye makeup to match! ;-) The funniest parts were mentioning that Lance should have gone into space with the Communists, and that Cody is known for his eyebrows! :-D
Does anyone know when the finale is? Thanks!
I was really sad to see Susan and Tony eliminated. I thought Susan did a great job on DWTS. It was great to see her improve with each week. I really enjoyed watching her and Tony dance. They were my favorite pair. They brought so much grace and cl*** to the dance floor. I loved her farewell speech. She is a beautiful and cl*** lady! I'm going to miss seeing her and Tony dance.
Tamara, Just my curiosity, why do you dislike Brooke Burke?
Like LaLucci, but it was her time to go.
