'The Hills': the moppets take Manhattan

Whitneyport_hills_s4_240_003 Previously on The Hills, Heidi got blasted at a work event and got fired, Audrina moved out and Whitney met a guy named Alex in New York.

People's Revolution. Whitney and Lauren call Kelly in NYC and she tells them they have 6 shows in New York for Fashion Week. She wants to bring the Bobbsey Twins out to NYC. Cool.

NYC. Lauren and Whitney show up at People's Revolution and Kelly wants to make sure they have black to wear. She also tells Whitney that "her boy Alex" is in the show tomorrow. They take a cab to Andrew Buckler's, a fashion designer. They dress two models, Adam and Alex (from last time), and Lauren thinks they're both cute.

House of Unemployment. Heidi is going to work on her resume and Spencer says she could use him as a reference. Ew. I'd rather not have ANY references than leave my job prospects in his hands. He does convince her to go out that night since she's free now.

NYC. Buckler Fashion Show. Lots of good-looking guys are running around half-dressed. Mmm. Alex asks if Whitney is leaving the next day and then Adam invites them to come to a party. I can't tell if Alex is okay with this or not. They have to stop talking, though, because the fashion show starts.

Lauren and Whitney head out to the party that night. Adam introduces them to his girlfriend Allie. Hmm. Bummer, Lauren. Whitney is struck by the lead singer of the band, but then Alex arrives and tries to get her to hang with him. But Whitney only has eyes for the Australian lead singer, Jay. Alex looks jealous.

Ultimat launch event in LA. Heid and Spencer show up, because apparently all they do is "appear" at things like launch parties. Spencer spots Heidi's ex-boss and wants to talk to him. This should be good. Spencer tries to apologize, but Brent Bolthouse says that every time Spencer is around there is a problem. He says Spencer makes him uncomfortable and that he doesn't want to see him around at his events. Haha!

NYC. Lauren tells Whitney to get on it with the Aussie, so she buys him a shot as Alex watches. They are really editing Alex to look like a total creeper, like he's spying on them from the shadows. Is this the love-triangle they are setting up for Whitney's spin-off? Because so far Jay the Aussie is awesome and Alex the Model is creepy.

Whitney tells Lauren Jay wants her to leave the party with him, but she worries about being too forward. Lauren says they're only here for a night, so get with it. Yes, Lauren!

Heidi's Sphere of Embarrassment. She apologizes to Brent that Spencer talked to him. Bolthouse keeps poking her in the shoulder, which is NOT okay. He does say she cannot just have people like Spencer in her life, which is good advice, but stop poking her, dude. That's so rude. She wonders if there is any kind of job she could have and he isn't sure he trusts her.

NYC. Someone advises Alex to just walk away and Whitney will come to him, but Whitney is otherwise occupied with Jay the Aussie. Instead of playing hard to get, Alex walks up and asks to speak with her, which is pretty needy. Jay then drags Whitney off and Alex's friends tease him about her leaving with the Aussie. They went on ONE date! Since when is she "his girl?" These people are insane.

Jay and Whitney walk down the street arm-in-arm as the credits roll.

Yeah. I have to say that I was pretty appalled by Whitney's behavior in this one. Unlike Andrea (sorry, darling) I didn't view Alex as needy or creepy. He seemed bewildered by Whitney's behavior and, considering what happened to them before, I can't say that I blame him.

Whitney admitted to staying in touch with Alex when she got back to LA from her last NYC trip. If she wasn't interested in him then she wouldn't have bothered, right? Lauren asked her about him like he was someone special and their boss just ***umed that there was something going on. Whitney accepted all of this with smiles and blushing cheeks.

But! Enter one seriously hot Australian singer and guitar player and suddenly Whitney doesn't want to know Alex and she tells Jay that he's just some guy. That's really crappy, imo, and I felt for Alex.

It's fine if Whitney liked Jay better than Alex after meeting Jay for the first time, but she handled her choice like a heartless jerk and I hope Alex doesn't give her the time of day ever again. Jay is cute, and maybe he's a good guy, but my own experience with musicians is that they've got girls offering them drinks (this is code for "I want you" in live music circles) and willing to leave with them every time they play. Whitney was just one of many to get his attention in this way and, I have a feeling, she won't be the last -- or, even, necessarily his favorite.

I didn't watch the Speidi moments again, so all I know about them is from what was written here. Sounds like (once again) Heidi's being given good advice. I doubt she'll listen.

i also didn't find Alex creepy, just a guy who thought he had something going with Whitney and then was confused when she changed colors. but i guess he is clear about it now! and yeah i think whitney is just one of many many to jay.

i give heidi some credit for defending spencer and groveling for her job back. at least she's got guts (if not much of a brain). anyway, it isn't really brent's place to tell her to lose spencer (even IF he is right about him), and heidi was the one who had spencer come to the event that got her fired. it's on her to keep things separate (or not). anyway, i think brent was drunk when he was talking to (and poking) her.

I am traumatized that there are recaps of this show but not of True Blood.

I'm really disappointed with Whitney's behaviour. I like her, but what she did to Alex was just wrong, just stabbing him in the back...err...more like right in his chest.

First of all, to Berlin and friends, RELAX!

Its faux-reality dontcha know. Poor hot model boy can't get a second date. I'm pretty sure Alex will get over it; he's probably just pumped he made it on a TV series.

Whitney may be one of the most p***ive and polite television personalities out there. I don't believe she intended to embarr*** or hurt Alex. Obviously the producers had another idea.

I would be extremely shocked if that's really how the night went down. You need to remember that even though its 'reality TV' a lot of the time it is still scripted (just a thought for future consideration).

But even if it weren't all made up, Whitney is single and allowed to date/hookup with whomever she chooses.

Don't make me pull out the double standard card. Woman playing the field- who'd a thought?

Hi, Natasha. Just to clarify a few points that I've already made in previous comments about this show when others have written almost exactly what you've written.

I don't care one way or another whether this show is "real" or not. I watch it and react to it based upon what is being shown. In that respect, I view it just as I do any other type of television show including the ones that don't claim to be real.

Thanks for the unnecessary lesson in reality show dynamics, but it hardly matters when I don't watch the show for truth. I watch it for the storyline and my comments come from that.

Relax yourself. You're not the first person to notice the fiction in reality television.

Jen: I believe they're looking for people to recap shows on this website. If you want to see "True Blood" included, you should probably try to do it yourself. Then you won't have to be traumatized.

Dolly and The World: I know! Right?

right!
