Kristinkreuk2_smallville_s6_240_2It’s the Smallville event of the year: the much anticipated wedding of Chloe Sullivan and Jimmy Olsen. You are cordially invited to the Kent farm where love is in the air. With long lost friends and unexpected villains making cameo appearances, it’s more than worth the price of a dinette set from the registry.

These Spoilers never throw away good memories

What’s a wedding without home movies? It begins with Clark and Lois sending their greetings, Jimmy waiting for his beautiful bride, Clark escorting Chloe down the steps of the barn… pretty standard stuff so far. We cut to the kissing of the bride, where Jimmy kicks it up a notch by dipping her. It’s only when they begin to cut the cake that a rumbling comes from the roof. Leave it to a dark, shadowy, angry monster to crash the most anticipated wedding of the year.

Eight hours earlier, Lois runs around the Kent farm all manic in the last minute preparations of the wedding. Jimmy makes it known he’s only nervous of seeing Chloe before the ceremony. Superstitious often, Jimmy? He does offer one bit of useful help in offering best man Clark as her plus one. He feels it in his gut that this is the right thing to do. Lois puts up her “strong” front, yet can’t help but smile her goofy smile. It’s good to feel wanted.

Despite his best efforts, Jimmy does indeed run into a glowing Chloe putting on her garter belt. He simply cannot believe his luck here. Chloe takes a minute to list just some of the disasters they’ve weathered thus far in their courtship. Seeing her before the ceremony, she says, is the least of their problems. I can only imagine this conversation would have continued on if not for Davis calling. To keep the groom from stressing even more, she lies about who is really calling. That’s what good brides do.

In the Kent kitchen, Clark learns from Oliver that Lex is alive. There’s a wayward router out there that indicates emails have been sent, and if they can get their hands on that piece of equipment in time, they can track his location. Clark is up for the idea but wants to wait until after the wedding. Oliver seems incredulous to the idea of waiting one second more.

Justinhartley3_smallville_s6_240 It seems the point is moot as Clark later whooshes to Oliver’s plane, router in hand. Clark says Oliver can’t be mad at Lex for the sins of Lionel. Of course, Oliver could care less as all he wants is the router. Again, Clark chooses to wait until after the wedding before he’ll help again. Lucky for Oliver, a guy appears from behind the curtain, saying he’s already downloaded information from the router during the lover’s quarrel.

I have to say, Allison Mack totally rocks the wedding dress. Lois makes her way to the loft, with Chloe thanking her for what she did to the barn. Davis plays the role of the jilted lover and calls for the 437th time. There are more pressing issues as Chloe needs to find her something borrowed. Clark arrives just in time for her to suggest his kryptonite. Wisely, he pulls the flower from the freshman dance long ago. Apparently, he never throws away good memories.

Meanwhile in Cuba, Green Arrow enters a textile mill when he shoots what he thinks is Lex. Turns out, it’s just a mannequin with a note saying “Sorry I missed you.” A concealed gal roars out of nowhere and knocks our hunk down. Holy crap, it’s Lana! It seems they’re both there to settle various scores. Even with all the information the router is providing, she’s not totally convinced Lex is alive. He offers to help her, but she’s less than thrilled at that concept. Oliver lets her know Chloe is getting married and even goes so far as to invite her to the wedding. Of course, Lana claims its “complicated,” but Oliver has a way of laying on quite the guilt trip!

Ericadurance_smallville_s6_240 Lois and Clark meet at the stairs with that look in their eyes. She helps Clark with his father’s cufflinks with that hopeful look in her eyes. He begins to read Jimmy’s backup vows, which only makes Lois even more emotional.

In stark contrast to the happenings on the Kent farm, we find Davis massively upset and bloody, calling Chloe yet again. He carries bags full of blood and God knows what else to a dumpster. A random rent-a-cop spots him and pulls his gun once he realizes what is going on. Davis begs the guy to walk away, but before he can, our favorite paramedic begins his transformation to the dark side… taking out the guard in the process.

Slow jazz plays as Clark and Chloe have their dance. She mentions that she’ll never forget all the things they’ve been through. Somehow, a weight has been lifted from her and that is what helped her to move on with the wedding. When Jimmy reclaims his bride, Clark makes his move on Lois. They dance, and awkward pauses allows for the two to move closer and closer… except who should arrive but Lana, the moment killer!

Lois wanders the porch, champagne bottle in hand when Oliver arrives. He offers to be the sympathetic ear. She’s having a lot of feelings and doesn’t know what they mean, having trouble sharing it with her ex of all people. Surprise surprise, the love bug has burrowed deeply into Lois, taking her by complete surprise.

Lana looks at an incoming text reading “Did the Archer believe you?” when Clark finds her. He hoped she would give him some heads-up of her arrival, but he also knows the wedding wasn’t in her original plans. Lana is proud of his mysterious blur actions. She says leaving Smallville was the hardest thing she’s ever done, but she’s glad she had the guts to do it. Clark reveals that he wiped Chloe’s mind.

Jimmy and Chloe are just beginning to cut the cake when it happens… lights flicker, mysterious thumping and everyone freaking the hell out. Out of nowhere, Doomsday busts in, immediately knocking Lana out. It barrels through the barn, destroying everyone and everything in its path. Clark tries to take is on and, of course, fails spectacularly, getting knocked all the way to the loft next to the open box of kryptonite. Jimmy tries to take it on and gets a massive chest wound as a consolation prize. Chloe rushes to his side but finds Doomsday taking aim at her. Lana saves Clark by returning the glowing rock to its box. Oliver shows up to reveal the “thing” took Chloe.

Tomwelling_smallville_240_005 At the emergency room, Clark wanders the halls. He first finds Lana, who asks about Chloe. Oliver is using all his satellites in an effort to find the missing bride. Lois is just outside Jimmy’s room, saying he’s in bad shape, bad enough that the hospital is going to Medevac him to a Star City facility. She wonders why terrible things keep happening to them.

Let’s kick start the sappy montage of everyone in reflecting mode, all while Jimmy is being wheeled away. Doomsday is seen carrying an unconscious Chloe into the Fortress. Once she’s placed on the ice slab, she opens her Brainiac eyes and flashes that evil smile. We end with a body double that bears a striking resemblance to Lex, hooked up like Neo watching the wedding video!

Next time on Smallville: new heroes, new enemies, new legends… coming January 15th! In the meantime, Happy Holidays and we’ll see you in 2009.

So what in the world did that ominous text that Lana received really mean? Seems Clark didn’t quite remove all the Brainiac from Chloe… what becomes of her now? Has the show sufficiently piqued your interest to hold you over for two months?

Has the show piqued my interest to hold me over for the next 2 months?

Heck YEA! It was awesome. Emotional, action packed, suspense filled, this is really their best season yet.

The previews for the Legion and the surprise villian look true to the comics and yet not comical.

Getting rid of Gough and co. was the best thing for this show.

couldn't agree more, clark. This season has been a major improvement over last season. I just hope it doesn't fall apart like it did last year. Very cool rendition of Doomsday. When i heard they were going to actually add the character to the cast, i thought it was a terrible idea, but once again Smallville has managed to find a way to make a comic book character better than the original.

This was a pretty good episode, and I'm definitely looking forward to the new episodes in 2009.

However, I was a bit disappointed that an epsiode titled "Bride" spent so little time focusing on Chloe. It was like the writers decided that Chloe and Jimmy's wedding was the perfect time to start a Lana/Clark/Lois love triangle. My main complaint is that the writers haven't done a good job of building up the EPIC LOVE STORY of Lois and Clark. Lois has been on this show for more than 3 seasons, and she has always treated Clark with disdain. Now all of a sudden she gets weepy-eyed at her cousin's wedding and laments that Clark is still in love with Lana, yada, yada, yada... Give me a break! Lois is supposed to be happy and supportive on CHLOE'S big day, not whining about her lost opportunity with Clark (whom she has disrespected since she met him). :-(

Honestly, I see more chemistry between Chloe and Davis, who is the villain! Gee, it was nice to see a 30-second scene with Davis before he transformed into Doomsday (**SARCASM**). At least Lex was mentioned as being alive, and it seems like he has been keeping track of Clark.

Unfortunately, I don't think that Oliver's character was used very well in this episode. He disregarded Clark's advice and decided to take out Lex on his own for revenge. He foolishly walked into a trap, where he didn't have Clark as a backup. Then he goes to Chloe and Jimmy's wedding where he runs into Lois. I don't think he has talked to her much since they broke up (not counting when he was poisoned and unconscious in "Toxic". Now all of a sudden he has become a Lois and Clark shipper? Oliver can "tell" that Lois has fallen in love with Clark? REALLY? Has Oliver even spent five minutes talking to Lois since season 8 started? Okay, writers, WE GET IT!!!

On the bright side, I thought Kristin Kreuk looked beautiful, and I liked her more mature looking haircut! :-)

Unlike Paige, I actually liked how they used Oliver for this episode. Oliver has always been shown as Clark's opposite, so the way he reacted last night is something I expected. I like his new friendship with Lois and I'm glad they are mature enough to remain in that type of relationship together. Chloe had a great part, she was the bride and actually had her own storyline that had to do with Doomsday and not the L/C/L triangle. I like that they are finally showing Jimmy's friendships with Lois and Clark. I guess I'm a little weird in that I actually like all the characters this year and I can't wait to see where the show goes from here.

wow, this season is shaping to be the best ever and if it is the last season, what a way to go out!

such a difference a few seasons make, now chloe is the woman that villains and guys are fighting over.

really loved the lois & clark moments, i think her feelings have been building up but its probably because of the wedding that it just boiled over and finally she recognized what she was feeling.

seeing lana was great although i'm very curious about that text message. is it from lex? or some other person or organization? and she looked fantastic as always...

such a bittersweet moment/episode... we have to wait for almost two months before the next episode and this definitely left us wanting for more... well, me at least.

okay eppy, but if the "thing"/doomsday kicked the beep outta clark, why wouldnt he go to the fortress to talk to jor-el?? wouldnt he realize the "thing" isnt from earth???? other than that, i'm all for evil chloe, finally something other than mooning for clark(plus davis is hot and they have chemistry)

Enjoyed the episode, wish it was coming back next week and not a two month down time.

Two questions about the wedding, why was it in the barn? Clark in the barn makes sense, but why would Chloe and Jimmy get married there? Also what ever happened to Chloe's Dad? He seemed to disappear after Chloe went to college. I didn't think he was dead, but he hasn't been mentioned.

Also with Chloe forgetting Clark's secrets (which I hate) did she forget her own secrets about her healing abilities. She didn't seem to be trying to heal Jimmy. Might be interesting if we learn that Chloe lost more than just her Clark memories.

Like the Lois and Clark moments, Durance is really growing has an actress. She's really fallen for Clark in the last couple of months. Which is of course the opposite of the comic myths; which show Clark hung up on Lois and Lois on Superman.

I wondered about Chloe's smile when she wokeup and say Doomsday, but perhaps she A) had a brain injury and was thinking of Jimmy or B) was reinfected by Braniac when she was laid down in the fortress.

Okay, so Braniac infected Chloe and stuck around to try and take over her body. But Lana was also infected by braniac and awoke after he was thought destroyed. Shouldn't Clark and company be concerned about Lana still being under Brainy's influence? And who is Lana working for?? Like her whole "street fighter" look.

jbw | Nov 21, 2008 10:09:53 AM | #

I am hoping that with Chloe back at the fortress and the reintroduction of Braniac, might mean that Chloe gets her memories back. Of course we heard what Lana said about not forgiving Clark for that. Could be trouble ahead for Clark and Chloe even after she is rescued from Doomsday.

FANTASTIC MID SEASON FINALE to the best start of a season yet for Smallville.

I hope the ratings continue to improve (Drastically) because this show really deserves it for such outstanding work.

LOVE Lois & Clark
Love pro-active Clark/Superman
Love Doomsday
Love Chloe storyline (And expect her memory to return soon)

It's been an incredibly ambitious season and all worries about the new direction of the show have vanished completely.

I thought the episode was really good. I almost wasn't going to watch Smallville this season, but so far this season has been really good. I love the Clark/Lois relationship. I totally agree that Lana is a moment killer. I'm really looking forward to the return of Smallville in January.

wow great stuff can't wait till it comes back in jan but i got one question why ws chloe smiling at the end is she evil and did she know that she was goin to get kidnapped and just prtended not to know at the wedding maybe she talked to davis before and he told her or something

sgag | Nov 21, 2008 2:50:37 PM | #

ya i got the same question as the guy above me any one got any ideas

bob davis | Nov 21, 2008 2:51:56 PM | #

Great episode! I love the Lois/Clark stuff although as others have said, canon is that Lois is oblivious to Clark and loves Superman. The Cloverfield opening was good, although we do seem to have had a few flashback type eps recently. Didn't recognise Lana at first. She looked very different with the new hairdo. Was that Lex at the end? Didn't look like his bald head...standin?
Chloe's super-creepy smile at the end does not bode well. I'm not a comic book reader so Doomesday means nothing to me, but I like the Davis/monster. Plenty of possibilities. Does is ruin the tension a bit in that we KNOW Jimmy can't die as he is a Daily Planet future character. I find him rather dull, so wouldn't mind him getting killed off however.
2 months?? I hate these winter breaks. This season of Smallville has been .. well, super!

Cath | Nov 21, 2008 3:34:20 PM | #

great episode, one of the best. what scares me is when Lois replied to clark after his visit with lana in the hospital saying "what if we never get chloe back". so lets hope the real chloe returns b/c she's a great compliment to clark.

ddpp | Nov 21, 2008 3:49:37 PM | #

Great episode! A bit too jam-packed, but... gosh! Unless I missed someone, there weren't any guests from the parent generation, not even Martha Kent.

Lana's hair and makeup - good grief. Why did they decide to make a familiar (and gorgeous!) character both unrecognizable and unattractive? Every time she was on, I was distracted by her appearance.

Dunno what to make of the last two scenes. Chloe's smile - poor "Baby Bear". I didn't think the hooked-up guy was built like Lex other than being bald. But then, if they uglify Lana, they can create a Lex built like a department store dummy.

Maureen | Nov 21, 2008 10:37:24 PM | #

What in the world are they doing making us wait until JAN 15?! Smallville is great & they shouldn't make a mid-season hiatus!

HarryFromNE | Nov 23, 2008 6:16:51 PM | #

Where's evil phantom Lois?

Seriously, can someone refresh my memory or did I miss something? What the hell happened to the evil Lois AKA Doomsday's mother? I thought it wasn't so easy to get phantom zone creatures out of human hosts, like with Lex.

Please get rid of that middle aged cow Lois with the silicone fake boobs. Everything about her is phony. Fake mockery way of talking, plastic look, botoxed face. Chloe is the real Lois in Smallville and Lois is about 10 years older than everyone else.

SusieWho | Nov 24, 2008 12:13:13 AM | #

Erica can't act. She should have save some money for acting classes instead of multiple plastic surgeries. She still has an old and homely face. Maybe those silicone implants could stop a speeding bullet. I would watch Smallville just to see that.

Great Ways to Annoy People in the Computer Lab

Assign a musical note to every key (ie. the Delete key is A Flat, the B key is F sharp, etc.). Whenever you hit a key, hum its note loudly. Write an entire paper this way.

Before anyone else is in the lab, connect each computer to a different monitor than the one it's set up with.

Bring a chainsaw, but don't use it. If anyone asks why you have it, say "Just in case..." mysteriously.
