Deannapappas_bachelorette4_240_003 Thank you for letting me bring you your weekly The Bachelorette recappings. I haven't watched a single episode of this season, so this oughta be fun. I do know we have DeAnna, a Greek temptress, deciding between one dashing-31-year-old-Account-Executive-with-a-kid named Jason and one scruffy-26-year-old-driftwood-figurine-carver named Jesse. (Turns out Jesse is a "professional snowboarder," so I wasn't that far off.) Which one will DeAnna choose? How will her family like them? Do we really have two hours of this plus a reunion show? I hear nothing but rain, so grab your gun and bring in the cat!

Disclaimer: Iowa is in the midst of yet another really bad storm (I'm fairly sure next come the locusts. And then zombies) and I am watching The Bachelorette on a Sharp Linytron Plus with rabbit ears that only gets NBC and ABC (suck it, CBS!) and was manufactured before I was. So if I suddenly comment about Deanna and Jesse riding a camel when it was in fact just a distorted tandem bicycle or something, that is the reason.

We intro with a lot of schmoopy declarations from the men. How long does this show take to film? A month or so? And she's your soulmate? Mark me down as skeptical. I do not deny that the heightened competive and romantic atmosphere makes you do the wacky, but still. We relive Deanna meeting Jason's family and 3 year-old son Ty. Jason thanks DeAnna for letting him know he can fall in love again. Boy, is that sucky if he doesn't win. Jesse says he is a "lanky, white snowboarder." As opposed to all the beefy African-American men you see on the slopes. Jesse looks sort-of like Bizarro Hippie Mick St. John from Moonlight.

Jason_bachelorette4_240 We start in Georgia where the Bachelors get to meet DeAnna's family. DeAnna can't stop talking about Brad, who I assume is the Bachelor who didn't pick Deanna. She sounds like she's still hung up on him a little. Hmmm. Jason appears to bring DeAnna flowers and her family an Easter basket. Thoughtful. They grill him a little but it's not bad. DeAnna's dad is leery of Jason having a son, which would give Deanna an instant family. Chrissy, the sister, takes him off alone but sadly it is not to put the moves on him. Boy, would that make for a spicy Bachelorette finale! Chrissy does give him some pretty good questions, way to go sister! Jason seems to impress the family and asks her dad permission to propose, which the dad obviously likes.

Weather Alert interruption.

When we come back, the family is debriefing with DeAnna and they seem to have loved Jason, but now it is Jesse's turn. Jesse has a talking head where he uses the word "rad" and immediately loses any rooting interest I had for him. The dad wants to hear about snowboarding and how he'll make a living when he's old. Jesse looks nerrrrrvous. They go off alone and the dad roughs him up a little. Just kidding, but he's a little harsher on Jesse than he was on Jason. He definitely doesn't make quite the impression.

DeAnna says she feels safe with Jason but she wants her family to love whomever she chooses. Her dad remarks that they both said they are falling in love with her, but that Jason said in a way that really made him believe it.

Weather Alert interruption.

We come back to Jesse meeting her grandparents. He seems a little more relaxed today, which is good. Then the doorbell rings and Jason is there. Yikes. Jesse is immediately intimidated. Dad's first question is for each guy to outline his pros and cons, which is immediately interrupted by a...

Weather Alert.

Back on the show, Jason appears to be kissing up to DeAnna's grandparents. He tells them his intention is to marry DeAnna. Grandma calls Jason a "very nice fellow." Heh heh. Grandmas rule. Jesse tells the sister and sister-in-law that he has cried over DeAnna, which melts them. He then asks her dad if he can propose and the dad is a little hesitant with Jesse. He kind of dances around giving his permission, but he eventually says yes. Not quite the ringing endorsement Jason got.

Next up is... shots? Wow. My family is so boring. The boys leave and DeAnna debriefs with the sisters. One thinks Jason is better because he's more experienced, whereas the other thinks DeAnna might not be ready for settled-with-a-kid. Good talk, girls.

Okay, the Vitamin Water commercial that ends, "She kinda makes a man wanna be a miniature horse." made me laugh out loud.  Well done, Vitamin Water.

Jeremy_bachelorette4_240 Back in the Bahamas, the most-recent jilted Bachelor Jeremy is back to talk to DeAnna. Yikes. He tells her she's making a mistake and confesses his feelings, she cries and says that he's not in her heart. Awww. That sucks. She does seem to say, "I'm full of two other people," which I may have misheard, but if not... heh heh, it's nice when I don't even have to make the jokes. DeAnna tells him she's not in love and sends him on his way. Poor Jeremy. He seems legitimately broken up and even if it's a fleeting thing because of the heightened situation, rejection still blows.

Weather Alert.

Today is Jesse's date with DeAnna. They go up in a prop plane and fly to an island. Jesse does the awesome thing of putting his hand on her face/neck when he kisses her. Well done, Jesse. Makes up for the use of "rad." He then gives DeAnna a "book of thoughts." The exact opposite of on Charmed. He tells her he loves her and she doesn't say it back, but that's fair. Jesse interviews that he is scared out of his mind that she won't choose him. Awww.

The next day DeAnna and Jason go scuba diving with sharks. Cool. This was no boating accident! Jason remarks that he loves all the crazy stuff DeAnna takes him to do. Uh, he realizes he's on a reality show where producers set up cool stuff for them to do, right? Not every day with DeAnna is going to be nonstop ABC-financed activities. Jason's version of a "book of thoughts" is a board game that he made himself. Pshaw. I made a Greek version of Clue for a class once. He confesses his love. She doesn't say it back, but she interviews that she's in love with both of them.

We get a recap montage of DeAnna with the guys. Blahblah romance blahblah laughter blahblah smoochies. She says she knows who she is picking and she hopes he feels the same way. The boys go pick out engagement rings. I honestly think it's going to be Jason, but I really can't tell. Both guys cry in the limo on the way over. Awww, this is killin' me! Poor Guy-Who-Isn't-Chosen!

The first guy to arrive is Jason, but that could be a fake-out. Jason goes to get down on one knee and DeAnna says, "No, I can't." OH MY GOD! Harsh. Also, I did not see that coming. Poor guy. Is he tall? I'm single, Jason! Okay, this is getting a little melodramatic. It's like something out of Guiding Light. She sends Jason on his way. I wish he wasn't such a grown-up about this. How awesome would it have been if he just chucked the ring in the ocean and stormed off? So awesome. Jason does cry a little in the limo. He'd make a great next Bachelor, he's a cutie.

Jesse_bachelorette4_240 Jesse arrives and unless we're in for an "I choose me" moment, I think he's the winner. He is super-nervous, which is cute since we know the outcome. He gives a very heartfelt speech and then proposes. She says yes and they smooch and the camera pulls away and the music swells. Awwww. She says, "I love you" and they smooch some more. He gets his rose and then we get a Montage o' Romance of their time on the show.

Stay tuned for the Reunion Show! Bur first:  Weather Alert! Haha.

well that sucks, it is 7:15 pm in California. Guess I don't have to watch now.

I liked Jesse, that was great. And nice Battlestar Galactica reference!

Trueblue... why did you read it? If I haven't seen a show yet, I don't come on here to read the recap.

wow..going into the finale I was for Jason but during this final I saw a spark between Jesse and Deana before He proposed I knew they would end up together and I was actually happy with the outcome. Good guys you deserve it!

Michelle | Jul 7, 2008 8:01:29 PM | #

I can't believe she chose jesse. I guess she's not the person we thought she was. Jason obviously deserves someone better, and hopefully he'll find her.

dissapointed | Jul 7, 2008 8:13:10 PM | #

WOW, Jason was my #1 pick from day one. I was extremely sad that she let him go. As the show went on, I felt like Deanna made the right choice for herself, i wish her and Jesse a lifetime of happiness. I hope Jason is the next Bachelor so he can find his true love that he so deserves.

Wow!!!, its very scary how people can be such critical about others love life. This is a TV show but it can turn out to be something good. Remember, love is such a
metaphysical thing and only those involve know what and how they feel. Jason is a good looking dude, no contention about that. Jesse on the ther hnd is attractie and a caring guy. What does women need? someone who cares and can make them safe. Being Account Attorney is not an end in itself. And not all that glitters is gold. I am very happy for them and I wish them well.

Aristophanes | Jul 7, 2008 8:19:24 PM | #

Jessie was the one for DeAnne. This made me realize what a great person DeAnne was - choosing someone not from it's cover. A good hearted person - a true gem just like Jessie. You could tell they were meant for each other - sparks flew between them when they were together. Congratulations Jessie & DeAnne. May your heart be one forever.

DEANNA DISAPOINTTED IN YOU,

I could NOT be more disappointed!! Jason clearly deserves better and I hope they make him the next Bachelor! If I were single I would have picked him the 1st night and ended the show right then & there! I won't waste my time watching the finale either!!

Andrea | Jul 7, 2008 8:24:16 PM | #

It was clear from the way she talked about how safe Jason made her feel that she felt no spark for him. So, it was good that she did not choose him. However, I don't see her romance with Jesse lasting a lifetime. He is a fun adventure, but his oft expressed fears say he is not ready to settle down.

Mary | Jul 7, 2008 8:31:05 PM | #

I'm shocked and disappointed in DeAnna choice tonight. I guess I never saw the connection with Jesse as with Jason but having said that it is a show and I believe that the footage shown can be misleading. In the end no one but DeAnna has to live with her decision but herself, I just can't help but to feel for Jason and his son Ty. My opinion is that the reunion seemed staged and her emotions didn't ring true. I hope that is just me and that her choice was true and not just for the show. If so, I wish them both all the best in love and happiness and that Jason would make a great Bachelor to be. He's got my vote.

Major Dissappointed | Jul 7, 2008 8:31:21 PM | #

I couldn't believe that she picked jessie over jason De you are a complete idiot, you can not see a good man right in front of you. Shame on you. Your love with Jessie is just infatuation do not rush into marriage you are heading for dissaster
dissaponted. I wasted my time watching it

dale | Jul 7, 2008 8:37:42 PM | #

How much time has passed since the final rose ceremony and tonights broadcast? Were Jason's parents invited to the show tonight in case he was chosen?

Cindy | Jul 7, 2008 8:41:01 PM | #

I cannot believe that she pick Jessie, DeAnne cannot see further than her nose, she is so blind like a BAT! I am so upset regarding her decision and I am so SORRY FOR JASON HE WOULD HAVE BEEN A BETTER CHOICE FOR HER. SHE WILL START ALL OVER AGAIN LOOKING FOR THE MR RIGHT. WELL I AM NOT SORRY FOR HER. JASON YOU WILL FIND YOUR TRUE LOVE. I WISH YOU ALL THE VERY BEST.

Bibi Zaleena Mohamed | Jul 7, 2008 8:44:17 PM | #

I knew from the beginning that she was a self absorbed and self obssessed individual. She said over 100 times that she wanted to get married and find her husband, have kids bla bla only to completely contradict herself in saying that she doesn't like to plan things and instead be more spontaneous. Jason was a classy guy right to the bitter end and Jesse is a nice guy too. It wont be long before he too finds u overbearing and annoying!! As for Jason I am available and very interested in YOU!

Sylvia | Jul 7, 2008 8:51:06 PM | #

I was another fan of Jason..I liked him from day one. I thought it was him up until the end where she said that she was getting ready to say goodbye to someone that she would be perfect with. I knew then that he was the one in the 1st limo. I do think she is happy with Jesse and wish them many years of happiness. I would love to see Jason as the next Bachelor. He has been hurt twice now and deserves to find happiness.

Danielle | Jul 7, 2008 8:55:55 PM | #

For all you critics, lets set the record straight - 1. an "account executive" is a SALESMAN, not an attorney; 2. A professional Athlete, like Jesse, even once he finishes competing, can do very well in sports management, promotions, etc. It was obvious the film shown was chosen to mislead and set up the big surprise ending. I think she chose the one she loved the most, and that makes it the right choice! Period.

ron | Jul 7, 2008 9:05:07 PM | #

There is something really wrong about this kind of show... I've only watched about 1/2 hr. of this finale. I can't get past the fact that it is morally wrong to 'lead' 2 different people to think you have feelings for them and then 'dump' one of them! Especially, when the part I saw was when both guys were together to meet her family. Here she is holding BOTH of their hands, with 'loving caresses'. OMG. I can't watch it ever again.

Sidra | Jul 7, 2008 9:05:08 PM | #

THat not fair .......ya3ni jesse ma beylb2la Jason afedla meno bektir

ibrahim bitar | Jul 7, 2008 9:11:14 PM | #

It's clear that she's not looking for a love that will last a lifetime. I just knew she would pick Jason. Jesse seems like he needs a little more time to figure things out.

Prettygirl24 | Jul 7, 2008 9:12:52 PM | #

she should have stayed single. She is too hot and young for one man..

theGM, girlroster.com

theGM | Jul 7, 2008 9:23:34 PM | #

Oh my gosh, I am so happy for them. I knew Deanna was falling for Jesse. You could see it in her eyes every time they were together. I think he was blindsided by the romance. That makes it even more real. They were friends first and that is important. I believe they will grow together and be happy forever. Jesse is a babe!!

Deb | Jul 7, 2008 9:24:09 PM | #

I cant believe it!! Jason is so much 4 her!!! I dont think jesse and her will last long!!! And jason is like GORGEOUS!!!!!
