Meerkat Manor: The Next Generation': Will I Always Love You?
Love is a many slpendored thing... not that I would personally know. What I do know is that when true love is found, as is evidenced by tonight's Meerkat Manor: The Next Generation, it's next-to-impossible to keep such strong, attracted forces away for very long. Man, I really need to stop reading so many Harlequin novels.
I have no witty one-liner to warn you about these Spoilers.
The Kalahari is quite the sight to see in spring... so full of color. Our young, adopted Axel now must start acting his age and earn his keep. What better first job for the kid than babysitting the new Whisker pups. Out of nowhere, Sophie returns! Now that Rocket Dog's given birth, she's no longer a threat to take over. In the back of my mind, I knew this was coming. Now I wonder if the same can be said for the evicted Commandos once Nikita gives birth?
By the way, the two newest members of the family have been named Nugget and Beaker.
While Axel and Sophie watch the babies, Rocket Dog takes to the Manor to search for food. Like the good family they are, the rest of the Whiskers watch her back now that their surroundings no longer provide that natural camouflage they're used to.
While on lookout, Mitch suspects something fishy in the canopy apartments of the weaver birds. Turns out an unwanted cape cobra is hanging around.
Meanwhile, it seems young Axel truly longs for the excitement side of Manor life. The newly minted babysitter seems to suffer from a wee bout of narcolepsy. Kid, this is a bad time to be taking a nap! All the while, a random rover begins to close in on the burrow. Axel wakes in the nick of time and the rover scurries away, but instead of holding down the fort, he ventures off to find a snack.
Our mystery rover checks in and is indeed Wilson, who could undoubtedly be the baby daddy. He makes a beeline into the burrow and the babysitting Sophie. It appears they have become quite the secret item. Upon Wilson's arrival, Sophie's attention strays from her babysitting duties as the two exit the burrow for some Afternoon Delight.
Before the party can get started, Axel returns and successfully scares off Wilson. He doesn't stay gone for long, though. Later in the day, Wilson returns with muscle man Philippe. The showdown is on as Axel sets his sights on Philippe, which works to Wilson's advantage. He goes after Sophie and once more tries to make sweet love down by the fire. Alas, the Whiskers clan returns from their foraging to find their quite community has been quasi-invaded.
Mitch successfully runs off Wilson and Axel chases Philippe back from whence he came. However, a bigger threat to the Whiskers remains in the form of a puff adder snake. Unfortunately for the family, the snake is blocking the entrance to the babysitting burrow. Sophie and Nugget emerge from another entrance and much of the family whisk the baby to safety. Rocket Dog then risks life and limb to go and rescue Beaker, but not before many stressful moments elapse. The kids are safe and peace has once again returned to the Manor.
But as we close this week's episode, it seems Sophie and Wilson are truly soulmates and are willing to do whatever it takes to make their love work. Damn the consequences, indeed!
Next time on MM:TNG, the pups head out on their first adventure while tragedy follows Rocket Dog.
Could Axel be on the fast track to the top of the Whiskers family? What will ultimately become of our two soulmates of the Kalahari? Nugget and Beaker... are we starting to run out of good names for the meerkats?

I don't like how Sophie left with Wilson and just left Axle to baby sit the pups with a big male roving around. Yea, she's real sweet.
Axel has grown up so fast and taking on adult meerkat responsibilities. He's the sweet one.
Hi Hayden. Good to see you here, too.
Mitch was real smart to save this one. Shakespeare saved Mitch when he really saved Axle too. If he didn't save Mitch Mitch wouldn't have saved Axle who wouldn't have saved the pups from the big males.
I can't stand Stockard Channing as the narrator. Makes it really hard to watch the show
No it don't! I like her very much! Ever sine the movie "Greese" she's been very good! She's very calm and if you don't like her, don't watch MM.
It just left Animal Planet in the mist of "next generation". Does anyone know why it just went off the air without any warning?
No ones knows.
This is an interesting title. Meerkat manor I will always love you. Cute, huh.lol
