NBC Finalewatch: 'Scrubs'

By Rick Porter

May 09, 05:48 AM

Zachbraff_scrubs_s6_240 My local NBC affiliate's decision to pre-empt pretty much the entire prime-time schedule for coverage of the weather (Breaking news! It's still raining! And thundering! See, check out the blobs on our radar!) prevented me from watching the NBC/season (but probably not series) finale of Scrubs Thursday night.

Needless to say, I'm not thrilled with that. Once NBC posts the episode, I'll watch and share a few thoughts. Until then, though, feel free to share your thoughts about the episode, the likely move to ABC next season and memories of the past seven years in the comments.

That same thing (weather warnings, not even for the town that I live in) happened to me LAST week. But not as big of a deal for me, since I wasn't charged with writing recaps the next morning or anything.
It was obvious that this episode was aired out of order (since Kelso was still Chief of Medicine). But this ep still made a fun finale. And it's nice to see that Keith is still a cast member.

As a season finale, I'm ok with this episode. But as a series finale, it was a little disappointing. Looking forward to more Scrubs next season on a new channel.

was this episode originally filmed as the season finale?? the reason i ask is because kelso was still in charge and he quit last episode.

This episode was supposed to be the 9th episode of the season, so it occurs before "My Dumb Luck" which is the episode where Kelso quits.

My initial reaction was mixed at first because I felt it was a weak season finale, but if you put it in context with the other episodes (i.e. watch it in order with the rest of the episodes)it is a lot better because it's not as confusing.

So, after thinking about it more I thought it was a good episode, but it wasn't as good as some of the other bigger episodes ("My Way Home" or "My Musical").

It was nice seeing "Scrubs" go out with a bang, and I hope the ABC rumors are true.

From what I have read, they have already started filming the 18 episodes for next season on ABC. I think ABC announces its fall schedule next week.

I thought this was a weaker than usual episode, made worse by billing it as a finale.

Hey all, be sure to check out zap2it's photo gallery of favorite Scrubs moments (upper right corner of the Home page). Nice choices and lots of great memories!

I couldn't catch the whole ep...yet. But I did love when they said there was a monster in the other room...and he looks into the office and this stream of smoke (with I think Kelso's face but maybe not) weaves through the room...just like Ol' Smokey on Lost.

Thanks for your contributions, everyone (and thanks Tom for the shout-out about the photo gallery, which is also linked in the body of the post).

Unfortunately, the NBC.com video player has been crashing my browser all day, so it's looking unlikely that I'll actually get to watch the episode today.

But yes, this episode wasn't originally intended as a finale (that one had yet to be written when the writers' strike hit), and it aired out of order, which explains Kelso suddenly having his job back.

Keep your eye on the site next week -- we'll be covering the network upfronts like crazy and will have any "Scrubs"-related news up as soon as we can.

Scrubs used to be funny right?

Episodes like this is why I gave up watching the show a couple seasons ago. Only watched this one because I heard it was a spoof of Princess Bride. And it wasn't really.

Not the first time things went out of order. Last season Cox hair style changed around mid-season. It then went back to his beginning of season style before going to the new style. I guess this episode wasn't ready to be shows a week ago.
