Kristiyamaguchi_markballas_dancingw Besides learning who's time is up on Dancing with the Stars, tonight we got another example of why Tom Bergeron is such a good host. Live shows are not for the faint of heart.

Spoilers!

Kristi Yamaguchi was rewarded for her character work by getting the encore nod. It was just as pretty the second time around.

Ozomatli performs "Esa Morena" after a gruesome interview with Marlee and Shannon backstage. The band came out from the audience with percussion instruments like a Carival parade before taking their place and starting the song. There were eight pros dancing out there and it was le awesome. It was refreshing to have an authentic Samba song played at the proper tempo for everyone to dance to.

After the leaderboard segment, Kristi & Mark are saved while it's revealed that Cristian & Cheryl are in the bottom two. Neither bit of information surprises me.

Next is the DWTS Junior segment. Dmitriy & Michelle are both 10-years-old and have been dancing together for three years. They do a Jive to "You Can't Stop The Beat" from Hairspray. Marissa should've come out to sing it, that would've been cool. Apparently they started dancing together because Dmitriy saw her on a dance floor and asked her to be his partner. Tom Bergeron says that that should be a lesson to all guys out there, which is totally true. Jaryd & Cara are the other couple - she's 8, he's 10. I like these kids, they're silly but in a good way. They do a Cha Cha to "Hey Baby" by Bruce Channel and this little girl has crazy hip action. In another split decision, Jaryd & Cara have been selected to return.

Instead of more results, Tom Bergeron was supposed to throw to a segment about show day preparation. Except the teleprompter jumped a segment and messed him up. How does he recover? By endlessly referring to the mistake, of course. If that was Samantha Harris, her head might've exploded. It almost seems like it was just an excuse to show Mario exercising shirtless or Derek playing the guitar and singing for Shannon to calm her down. Then we get to the next safe couple - Jason & Edyta.

James Blunt performs his new single "Carry You Home" as World Champions Eric Luna & Georgia Ambarian. It was a very impressive dance (Eric lifted her in the air while on the floor and got up to his feet without her bobbling!) to a song that may or may not be as depressing as it seems. If I was one to make a sucker bet, I'd say it is that depressing.

Mario & Karina and Marissa & Tony are saved right before we go to a commercial with very little time in the program left. You know, if they cut down on the painful interviews they wouldn't be running out of show. Back from the break, Shannon & Derek are saved as well as Marlee & Fabian. Also not a surprise. To help save on time, Tom only asks Len what he thinks about the competition at this point. Which also wastes time.

Priscillapresley_dancingwiththestar After much unneeded hoopla and dead air, it's finally revealed that Priscilla Presley has been eliminated. She had a good run and did quite well. I'd tell you what song she and Louis danced to but the show ended before the music became identifiable.

Is anyone surprised by the results? Surprisingly, I've mostly agreed with the order in which everyone's gone home. Mostly (a single tear for Le Guttes). After this week's somewhat humdrum showing, how can the remaining celebs wow you?

While I did not agree with all the whining about the music in yesterday's DWTS entry, I have to say you are RIGHT ON tonight, Tamara. I maintain that Bergeron is one of the best hosts out there. Live television is tough and DWTS is a three ring circus. He knows the show is cheesy fun and acts accordingly without ever demeaning himself or the proceedings in the process. It's a tough balancing act and he pulls it off every week. He's also a refreshing alternative to the horrific Seacrest/Abdul/Cowell/Jackson ego fest on IDOL. I also give kudos to ABC for keeping sponsorship integration to a classy minium. I watched one episode of IDOL this season and the product plugs were beyond obnoxious...and I'm in advertising!! As far as Sam Harris goes, thank God she fits the pretty gowns. Aside from a complete lack of wit and tact, she is still unable to listen to the people she is interviewing while also listing to orders coming from the control room through her ear piece. I do miss her all to brief maternity leave when Drew Lachey filled in. I do have one beef with the past two results shows...why replace the Macy's "Stars of Dance" segement with that creepy kiddie ballroom competition? It's like watching musical versions of Jon Benet Ramsey shimmy and wiggle for the judges. I'm sorry, but seeing 9 year old kids in tight spandex trying to be passionate kinda makes my skin crawl.

That was supposed to be "LISTENING to orders..." not LISTING. Me and my clumsy typing! When is ZAP2IT going to include the spelling error highlighting seen on so many other message boards? Just a thought.

I was fine with the bottom 2 and Priscilla leaving. I'm surprised we havent had a shocking results show yet- maybe next week. I think Sabrina left around this time last season.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the kid dancers- they are cute. As long as by this point (being 8-10 years old) they want to do it and its not just their parents. They start kids playing sports at 4 yrs old, so why cant they dance? In pretty sure Derek and Julianne started very young.

Next week is all different dances- should be entertaining!

i have to say i am pleased with the results.I tought they would cut marlee but it was as i predicted Priscilla. By the way how Marlee manages to dance if she is deaf?oh and i actually enjoy watching the kids dancing but when the results time comes i i feel so bad for the cfouple who is not chosen cause i think they all put a great effort into it.i think from next week we are going to see they one who really dance and they ones that are still here because of the pros....

I find the kids utterly creepy and I STILL find Marisa distracting.

And I completely agree about the really TERRIBLE music - it gets worse every year. They really need some people who know HOW to sing.

Yes, we all correctly predicted that Priscilla would be eliminated this week. She seemed very classy and low-key, not the diva that I had expected her to be. Now that they are down to 7 contestants, I think that Cristian and Marlee are the ones most likely to be in the bottom two. Last night Cristian sounded totally defeated in his interview with Samantha, like he was expecting to go home. :-(

For the most part, I thought that the results show was utterly forgettable, except for the really obvious teleprompter mistake. Right before Tom acknowledged the mess, I was laughing because he said that they were going to announce another couple who was safe. Seconds before, the camera had just shown all the stars and the pros backstage applauding the kids' dances. I was like, "Does ABC have the ability to magically teleport people to another room or something?" ;-)

I think I'm getting tired of seeing so many rumbas being performed to the musical guests' slow songs. Let's hope there is more variety in the pro dances, like a quickstep or paso doble.

Just checkin the schedule, It's been a couple years since I had time so, this is all I have left to check out I hope. Just remember I loove sex with a good partner! I just wonder if Renee Dutch can be cured or not? It's all about the family, even if it's sometimes under the cover's :]

um Scott, I think you are on the wrong show recap. What are you talking about!? I enjoyed last nights show. I am not surprised that Priscilla was sent home. I think the kids are sooo cute and are talented for their ages. I personally like the videos of behind the scenes they show. But that's just me.

I don't mind the kids dance segment. They're cute. I never enjoyed the "Stars of Dance" segments. Julianne, Derek and Mark were child dancers and they are great now. Those kids are so gracious when they lose.

Tom recovered well from the teleprompter thing.

Since Kristi and Mark did the encore dance I was worried that they were going to be sent home. Everyone that had done it so far this season had been. I'm glad they weren't.

Personally I enjoy watching the Junior Dancers. They are learning how to be gracious in victory or defeat, something that is sorely lacking in our culture at this time. Agree that Tom did a great job after that teleprompter goof. Not surprised that Priscilla is gone. My favorite is Kristi. I have been impressed by Marissa she has improved from the beginning. My heart went out to Shannon I could actually feel her tension.

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!

While the band whose name I can't spell was playing, I was thinking, "Why couldn't they have played for all the contestants the night before?" If I were one of the professional dancers, I'd complain about the music they're having to dance to.
Tom B is really hysterical! Can you imagine if that had happened to Samantha?
Go Kristi!

Tamara, i am with you about the music is atrocious, and Tom Bergeron is a great host! i have always loved tom as the host and last night he really showed his chops.

sorry to see Priscilla go, but i think it was her time. she is a classy lady.

Am I the only one repulsed by the kid dancers? Why aren't their parents allowing these kids to have childhoods? Instead, you have eight year olds who've been dancing professionally for a year or more moving their bodies like prostitutes and getting judged on live television in front of 20 million people. That's shoddy parenting in my book.

I wish they'd stop letting us know right off the bat that Kristi and Jason are okay for another week. They've done that almost every week so it's like a big snooze when they announce that those two are continuing to next week. No kidding! It just kills the suspense.

I hope the judges are happy now that they've gotten rid of Priscilla. It was blatantly obvious that at least two of the judges hated her for some reason because of those ridiculously low scores as well as the constant references to her money. Why not bring up Jason's money? Or is he the only pro footballer on earth who doesn't make about $20 million a year?

Now that Priscilla is gone, I'm getting behind Marissa but the judges seem to hate her too.

Bergeron rocks!

I do not understand what people have against kids learning ballroom. The professionals probably started just as young. The dancing is similar to a sport. Are parents who encourage kids to do a sport, learn an instrument, or study bad parents?

I love this show, but I haven't fallen for any one special couple this season. I want to see a DWTS All Stars edition. Now that would rock; Mel B,Emmit, Stacey, Sabrina, Drew, Apollo, Laila, Helio, both Joeys, Mario Lopez, John Hurley, Monique, and some others. But lets let Kelley M stay home. She should not have won.
