'Big Brother: 'Til Death Do You Part': I call shenanigans!

Natalie_bigbrother_s9_240I'm normally immune to the producer tinkering on Big Brother: 'Til Death Do You Part, but after tonight's ridiculous HoH competition where the relationship between guinea pigs was treated as if it was a legitimate bond, my halcyon days of turning the other cheek are through.

These spoilers have totally been playing both sides.

The episode kicks off with Julie explaining to us just how screwed Natalie is because of her constant overplaying of the game. To refresh, Sheila became HoH this week with one goal, to get Natalie out of the house while they still can. Things worked out perfectly for this plan to be executed, with her putting up Sharon and Adam and Adam wining POV and taking himself off the block in order for her to put Natalie up, with the idea that Ryan and Adam would evict her. It seems that since the veto competition, however, Ryan and Adam have started thinking (always a dangerous proposition when it comes to those two) and have begun to see that perhaps taking Natalie out of the game instead of Sharon would be a silly move considering Sharon has three votes in the jury locked up in Joshuah, Chelsia and James.

Their paranoia somehow manifests itself into a full-on house meeting where they accuse Natalie of playing both sides of the house and ask her where she stands right in front of everyone. Ryan should take some advice from their "Glass Houses" HoH and not throw so many stones, considering he's been playing both sides from the beginning. But whatever. Confrontation is fun! Completely trapped, Natalie admits she was lying to the girls all along and her true loyalty is to the boys. Convenient, that, considering it's the boys who control her fate in the house this week. Sheila takes exception to this little nugget and asks if that means if Natalie wins HoH next week she'll take Sheila out. Natalie pretty much says, "DUH!" In the nicest way possible, of course. Boy, Natalie better hope it's not a split vote this week! As for the outcome of this ridiculous meeting, it's hard to say. At this point, Natalie has told so many different stories and is so darn good at spinning them it's kind of impossible to tell where she stands. In the moment, she believes whatever she is saying, I'm sure of that, because no one can lie with such conviction. I hope. I pray. All I know is, for once I have no idea what's going to happen during the live vote and it's pretty darn exciting.

Next, Julie interviews the houseguests and asks them if they'd rather be up against a deserving player in the end or one they can definitely beat. They all say deserving, but only one or two of them mean it. I'll leave you all to speculate as to who.

After that time killer, we then get a glimpse into the jury house and this week's segment is far superior to last week's boring filler. It seems James decided to bring all facets of his personality to the jury house with him and begins his stay by immediately insulting Chelsia and making her cry by saying her eviction tirade is the reason he was evicted from the house last week. How...mean and WRONG of you, James. You were just as annoying as her! Self-delusion, it's a wonderful thing. James does have at least a sliver of a heart, however, because when he sees Chelsia crying he feels a little bit bad (emphasis on little) and half-assedly apologizes for saying it. Then they make out. Ah, those two genuinely deserve each other.

Finally, it's time for the big vote. Sharon and Natalie both give speeches, and while Sharon's is pretty much old hat by now (she's been on the block FIVE TIMES, people!) Natalie gives a teary speech basically begging to stay. When the votes come down, Ryan votes to evict Natalie and Adam votes to evict Sharon, causing a tie and forcing Sheila into exactly the situation she didn't want to be in. Burn! Sheila wastes no time in evicting Natalie with the reasoning that Natalie was just going to come after her next week. On her way out of the house, the crushing realization that she won't be on TV anymore completely comes down on Natalie and she positively loses it. She's classy in her exit interview, although her face makes it look like she's in at least the first or second stage of shock. Someone get the girl a blanket!

And now it's time for my nemesis, the HoH competition. This week it's called "Fact or Fiction" and is that old Big Brother staple of true/false questions about the house and the houseguests. The questions are actually kind of fun and Sharon is in the lead pretty much the whole way, right until the dubious question of my nightmares. You guessed it: the guinea pig question. Basically, the question asked that, besides Jacob/Sharon and Ryan/Jen, was there another pre-existing relationship currently in the house? FICTION. Right? Right? Well, according to our "clever" producers, the answer is indeed fact. Because the guinea pigs knew each other before the game started! If that's not the biggest load of crap I've ever heard, well, I don't know what is. Because of this question, Ryan (who guessed Fact because he's a paranoid freak) catches up with Sharon and they go to a tiebreaker, which he wins. Poor Sharon got hosed. I understand the purpose of that question was to stir up controversy in the house over what relationship might remain, but it is really dubious when it comes to actual gameplay. Shenanigans! Shenanigans!

Favorite quotes:

  • "Now this will end, this running around and playing every side." - Ryan commenting on Natalie's indiscretions, this from the guy who's had final two deals with Natalie, Adam, Joshuah and Sharon at some point throughout the game
  • "Cheers to being evicted, one by one." - Joshuah, still bitter
  • "I was evicted because I was the residue of Chelsia." - James, managing to be incorrect and vaguely disgusting all at the same time

A gentle reminder: please only discuss events that aired on the actual episode. No spoilers please! I know it's difficult because of the live feeds, but let's keep this a spoiler free zone so everyone can feel safe coming to this site.  Thank you!

I call shenanigans as well. What kind of question was that?

Where to start on tonights episode.. first of all i wanna comment on how extremely wrong ryan and adams little "meeting" was. I know, i know that they were just trying to "clear things up" but honestly, can ryan be more hypocritical? He's yelling at natalie and saying how he cant trust her because of her alliances..? Honestly, i think ryan is in more secret alliances than anyone else ever on the show! Its crazy how himself and adam feel like they have the power to call someone out like that, put them on the spot and then make you say who's side your on. Because it really puts people in the spotlight, makes them say something that reallyy should never be said due to the freedom everyone has in the game. But, saying that, i think it was a veryyyyyy shady thing to do of ryan, making natalie say she is with "the boys" getting her to basicly turn against sheila and then VOTING HER OUT. honestly has to be one of the most shadiest things iv'e seen in this game.. With all that being said, i think Natalie played a great game, and really got jipped out of that house, after almost carrying everyone besides adam, to that point in the game.. Wow is all i can say..And for the HOH comp.. wow, what a load of bullll. If you hadnt noticed..That happend to sharon last week, where a mix up of words happened and she knew it, and she talked about it, and the cameras were quickly taken off of her.? This game has got to end before my mind blows up with amazement on how shady people can be.. After tonights stint by ryan.. I really lost all my respect for him. And yes people will say this is just a game, they did what they had to do to win, but theres a difference in doing it the right way, and doing it the wrong way.

Yeah, the guinea pig question? So wrong. Sharon deserved that HOH. I really hope she doesn't get voted out b/c if so...I'm not going to be happy. Not that I'm gunnng for her to win (at this point I just don't care), but she shouldn't go out on a week where she really ought to have won that HOH!

Lindlee | Apr 16, 2008 8:08:52 PM | #

Ryan is counting on two idiots to help him win BB. What a joke.

badmemory | Apr 16, 2008 8:33:34 PM | #

You will be missed, Natalie.

badmemory | Apr 16, 2008 8:43:31 PM | #

This show is really turning out to be bogus.

I just saw the question being asked and answered by a superimposed text in brackets The hamsters.

That's just bullshit. Did the hamsters date before moving in together in the Big Brother House?

WTF?!

badmemory | Apr 16, 2008 8:58:08 PM | #

Ya know come to think of it, Carrie is so right on! James is a douche bag.

Okay so I have the vapors for Chelsia...but James is really the worst kind of anal herpes.

James bags on Chelsia as the reason for his being booted, puts her in tears, then follows her to her room and then asks, what's wrong?

ARGH This show is like a traffic accident, I drive by but can't help slowing down to gawk.

badmemory | Apr 16, 2008 9:07:26 PM | #

I like how there was a long pause before Julie announced that it was fact. The name of this season should be Big Brother 9: Where CBS decides who wins!!!

Joe | Apr 16, 2008 9:07:32 PM | #

hoh was bullshit. sharon should have won. hey, the producers knew each other before the show started. and the camera operators. and the production assistants. but those shouldnt be counted as "relationships".

s | Apr 16, 2008 9:52:30 PM | #

I thought the guinea pig question was hilarious.

Andy | Apr 16, 2008 10:08:01 PM | #

i'm pretty sure this is the first episode i have seen that natalie was wearing a shirt that didn't expose her huge boobs...too bad she left...JUST KIDDING!! good riddance skank bag...as for the hoh, total scam..too bad the viewers can't call shenanigans...this show sucks!!

Kelley | Apr 16, 2008 10:11:31 PM | #

badmemory...are you joking when you say natalie will be missed because you never liked her...lol

but she will be missed by me and maybe by adam is sharon get veto...i still dont think they realize what they did...because if natalie stayed this week would have been cake for everyone but sheila...poor fools...ryan is the lucky one this week and adam better hope sharon does get veto cause he will be sitting next to nat next week...i think i want sharon to win with natalie giving her the vote she needs

natalie may have problems but who doesnt no1 on that show is any better than her...most are worse...but i felt bad for her tonight

this is not my favorite season at all but it is the first that made me cry...i felt bad for natalie...

showtime is horrible now...i dont know how they are gonna make 3 shows out of what is happening in the house now...

go sharon!!!

Linda | Apr 16, 2008 11:19:10 PM | #

everyone in my livingroom erupted in a spontaeous cheer when ryan said "natalie" to be evicted. it was then that we all knew she was gone, bye-bye! maybe this will show her that she shouldn't always count on her "boyz." and how she always sides up and just cares about male attention is too sad. and as she's even said how much she has been burned by men in her life? will she never learn? maybe this time? i doubt it. in the end i ALMOST felt sorry for her 9but not quite, hee hee), because i was so glad to see the annoying bible-mis-quoting, pseudo-"team christ" invoking natalie looking stunned as she walked out the door. as soon as she started claiming god was on HER side, i had to start voting against her...ding-dong natalie got the boot!

and on another note, that guinea pig question was totally bogus. yeah, WTF?....

dl | Apr 17, 2008 1:20:25 AM | #

The producers most likely thought of the question and the answer before the HOH even started. As a result, they did not know Sharon would be ahead and then lose because of the question. Therefore, there are no shennanigans. That was a genius move by Ryan to get rid of Natalie. By voting to evict Natalie, Ryan will incur the thanks of Sheila for fulfilling her plan. Sheila will now hate Adam for putting her in the position to evict Nat. Also, Ryan will incur the thanks of Sharon for voting to keep her in, thereby showing that he is true to their alliance. If Sheila or Sharon (one of them will be evicted this week) wins HOH next week, goodbye Adam. If Adam wins HOH, goodbye to one of the girls. Ryan has it made for the final 2 now. Finally, the goodbye videos made it seem like Ryan voted to keep Nat (he said he didn't want her to go), while Adam made it seem like he voted to evict her (he said it was all strategic and gameplay). Nat will think Ryan voted to keep her which will not hurt him in the final 2 voting. Because he can keep her vote and the others from his alliance, he can win 4-3 in the final.

Ding Dong the witch is dead! Yipeee! Nattie Christ is finally gone. Loved the look on her super-shiny face when Julie announced it was a tie. You could see blood (or whatever vile liquid flows through her veins) drain from her face. She didn't need to speak to God to find out what was going to happen next.

The guinea pigs had a previous relationship? What nonsense is that!

I wasn't rooting for Sharon before, but now I am. She deserved the HOH. Instead we have that big lug Ryan in power.

Here's to Sharon and Sheila going all the way to final two.

Peace.

JVice | Apr 17, 2008 4:54:27 AM | #

Thank goodness Nasty Nattie is gone...Still not sure that the hamsters are the couple in question...Sheila made a comment at the end of the show that one of the parties involved were in the sequester house...did they move a hamster????

babbs | Apr 17, 2008 5:11:52 AM | #

Well, I didn't want to come off as total dick because Natalie was stunned (I don't know why) when Sheila broke the tying vote by sending her home. So I did what JC would do and sang, Nah Nah Nah, Nah...Nah Nah Nah, Nah...Hey Hey, Hey, Goodbye.

I think even Julie Chen was a bit perplex by the judges decision to allow the hamsters' relationship to be a factor in the HOH competition. But I don't know if you caught that Julie didn't follow up the ruling with the reason: of the hamsters sorid lifestyle before coming into the BB House.

I think Sharon would've called in the Marines and Mount Suribachi'd Julie's ass had she heard the reason. But alas, Sharon remained stoic.

It's too bad, but I'm pretty sure Sharon knows her fate. Unless she pulls off a POV and sends Ryan packing.

So Natalie, you will be missed and my third liver thanks you for it. I donated my second one to a guy that grows fava beans in his backyard...but I digress.

badmemory | Apr 17, 2008 5:23:51 AM | #

I'm done with this show. I figure Les Moonves has to be an ex of Sheila's to rig the game this bad. Sharon should have won the POV to make this game more interesting, and should have if it weren't for that guinea pig question. CBS....please leave our summer pleasure to the summer in future seasons! They rushed to get this inane version on during the strike and filled it with people that would have NEVER passed a psych scrutiny in the past. Ryan, Sheila and 'Baller' are idiots, Sheila an aging call girl with a lizard neck and Sharon just going along for the ride. I won't watch again.

mjf | Apr 17, 2008 5:27:40 AM | #

I still say "BB" should be called "Big LIAR"...LOL but seriously, if Sharon winds up in the final two she's going to go home with the money and my wife and I will die laughing. How such a strong alliance can stay together and then cannibalize itself to the extent that Sharon and one other's left? Too funny! Go for it people!

Alan | Apr 17, 2008 6:07:51 AM | #

I can't believe I missed last night's episode. I got tickets to see my little Ottawa Senators get slaughtered by a bunch of rabid penguins. And then I find out Natalie got anal raped by Crazy Sheila and I missed it! Freakin' BS!

I can't wait to see Matty's face when Nat smashes through a window of the sequester house!

What is with that hamster question? What about the relationship between Adam and his right hand? Isn't that just as valid as hamster love?

Thanks for the great recap Carrie. I think it will be Sharon or Adam to go this week.

Billybob | Apr 17, 2008 6:24:42 AM | #

I am hoping for sharon to get veto then send adam home i think thats what it will take for adam to realize his mistake in sending natalie home...sheila would be leaving this week if sharon went last night and i dont think adam is smart enough to even get it yet...the guys would have been in a better place as a team if sharon got it and ryan got veto he could have sent sheila home...

i really really want a sharon and someone final 2 and i want natalie to give it to sharon...please someone tell me that will happen...

all i know is the next week and half are gonna be boring...even the ppl that hate have to agree she would be better to watch then these 4

well i went from wanting natalie win to adam to ryan to sharon all in 2 weeks...the only that stayed the same is i always wanted sheila to lose

ohhh OMG when they all said they wanted to be next to a better player in the end then someone they could easily beat...i almost wanted to throw up...because they would have kept natalie if that was the case...what losers

Linda | Apr 17, 2008 6:55:46 AM | #

Actually, it's not the first time that BB has thrown in a trick question to trip up the houseguest.. anyone remember the question of how much water could the teacup ride hold last season? Everyone guessed the total volume it could hold, but because there was a hole/door in the side it was a stupidly low number because it wouldn't hold hardly anything and (i think) Jen won by default with her horrible low guess. And actually that guiena pig question has been great.. the houseguests didn't hear the answer, so they're all obsessed and worked up trying to figure out who the other couple is now. It's kind of funny.

Anyways, i'm more Surprised Sharon didn't immediately throw it when she heard she was in the lead.. i mean that's what she's been doing in the comps all season long. She's doing well? Ooops, suddenly she starts getting everything wrong. She only lasted 8 minutes in the endurance last week because she hurt her back the night before? Please, anyone who has the feeds knows that not once did she complain about her back or do anything even remotely strenuous. I'm glad she didn't win because she's pretty much been floating to the end carried only by the fact that everyone else wanted the rest of her alliance out more and now her deal with Ryan.

The most important thing now, is who wins the veto.. that will decide out final three..

Ryan | Apr 17, 2008 7:23:55 AM | #

Good call Linda. I did throw up! Although I did jump up and hit my head on the ceiling fan when Natalie found out it was a tie. Priceless.

Please, people should want to go to the final 2 with someone they can easily beat, not someone "worthy" of being there.

Although I really don't like Nattie Christ at all. I think she was playing it well. Although as Julie said, she may have overplayed everyone.

Go SHARON! Go SHEILA!

JVice | Apr 17, 2008 7:24:37 AM | #

Hey billybob - sorry about the Sens!! I grew up in Ottawa for almost half my life - still a great city! Maybe next year!

I too can't wait to see Matty's face next week!! I'm hoping Sharon goes next. She's doing her best to fly under the radar and the sooner they realize that the better.

I've hardly watched the show at all this time around but I'd love to see it come down to Sheila/Adam at the end. I still think Sheila's reaction to being hooked up with Adam in the beginning was such a hoot!! It would be sweet irony to see them face off against each other in the end!!!

Linney | Apr 17, 2008 7:27:50 AM | #

I wanna say Sharon will be the better half of the final 2, but I too am afraid of Big Sheil. With those pepsodent choppers she'll rip my flesh and stash em in her rabid chipmonk cheeks for the next hibernation period.

We all know who won HOH last night, right? That insipid fact or fiction game still leaves a crappy taste in my mouth like the chimichanga special I had at Ming's Kitchen in Little Korea town.

And that 'sitting next to a better player' crap was so stupid. If I'm going for half a million dollars, I want to be sitting next to a dumb sumbitch to win.

So I guess in that case...sigh...Natalie, you are the weakest link. COME BACK!

Wait a minute! Adam. Oh yes. Adam is perfect for the task of "D'oh-ing" his way to the final 2. And Sheila will be right there nagging right beside him.

The mind certainly does wobble.
