The season finale of The L Word still leaves a lot of loose ends. (Thank goodness for next season, eh?)

Spoiler alert on as "Loyal and True" is revealed.

Helena is back and who would have thought she'd pop in from out of the sky with her mother.

Medically helicoptered in for a jellyfish sting, Peggy Peabody gives Helena a reason to be back in L.A. and visit The Planet.

It does not take long for her take her mother's advice, pull out her checkbook and propose a financial proposition that Dawn Dembo's lover, Cindi, cannot resist.

Tasha and Alice are together, but couldn't be further apart. Alice herself knows the relationship is in trouble when she meets up with Clea. A kiss isn't just a kiss here and you know it. When Tasha is excited about joining the L.A.P.D. and flirts with another girl during the movie wrap party, it gives Alice a pause. She confides in Shane about Clea. Shane's advice is enough to allow Alice a getaway plan if necessary.

"Lez Girls" wraps up and how bizarre that during the course of this film, Adele has gone from this goofy assistant to director of the film who calls all the shots whether film is rolling or not, even demanding Tina be removed from the set. And out of nowhere, Adele gets a three-picture deal. How the hell did that happen?

It still remains to be seen whether the "too gay" film ever will be seen, even with a distributor.

What was seen is Jodi's new art piece, "Core." (And wow, was Jodi glammed up for this episode!) What a slam to Bette as a million shots of her are shown around the gallery. I don't think anyone but Bette and Jodi's close friends really realize how big a slam it really is. Ah, a woman scorned.

It's nice to see Bette back with Tina. There is something about a first love that can't ever be bested by other relationships.

As for first loves, what about Molly and Shane? Maybe Shane finally found true love with Molly. Joyce, however, turned on her motherly protection and made Shane dump her daughter.

For the first time in many, many episodes, I actually felt for Jenny. She crashes the wrap party to speak up. Of course, just as she thanks her friends for her loyalty, her best friend Shane is making out with her love, Nikki.

2009's half-season will have to hold answers to many questions:

Will Jenny move out of the house she shares with Shane? Will Shane get together with Nikki or will Molly come back into the scene?

Is it the end of the road for Alice and Tasha? Will Alice hook up with Clea?

Will the name SheBar change now that Kit owns it? And will Cindi and Helena work out?

Will Peggy die?

Will Bette move out of her house and to the west side of L.A. with Tina? Will they make everything official with a wedding? Will Angie get a sibling?

Will the final episode of "The L Word" be disappointing or historic?

Will there be a spin off? Could there be?

Did we really have to endure the weakness that was this entire season to get to one good episode?

Well, relatively good, at least. It's not as if every "twist" wasn't as predictable as ever, but the execution improved and the characters acted more like people than the caricatures they've been for three months.

And we'll sit through it again next year, just to see Adele get Demboed.

Here are my thoughts....I personally did not feel sorry for Bette. In my opinion she had it coming and she'll survive. I was actually incredulous that she felt she was a "victim" in the situation . I just wish that she & Tina did not get back together. I think Tina has grown so much from where she started on the show that she deserves better. I did enjoy the whole Jenny/Shane/Nikki wrinkle. I think the Alice/Tasha situation came out of left field. Can't Alice ever keep a relationship for longer than 6 months? I love the scenes with Helena and her mother, the incomparable Holland Taylor.

What are you commenters on about?? A poor season for a great finale? I think this has been a really strong season. Yes, pretty much all the characters are caricatures, but this show has NEVER been realistic. And someone who does NOT want Bette and Tina back together? I don't think Bette felt like a victim, she just felt humiliated - which is what Jodi intended. Is it possible to break up amicably when one of you is in love with someone else? No surprise that Jodi would pick up on Bette's comments about their core values being different.

Shane's self destructive behaviour blowing off Molly then doing it with Niki made me a bit sad for her. Shane seems so cool and together, but she certainly screws things up on a regular basis. (BTW, Molly's mother is Phyllis, not Joyce)

Yes, a good finale and enough questions to leave us wanting more. Thank God Showtime are giving us another 8 episodes. If the series has been cancelled with this as the finale, it would have been very annoying.

Cathy - there are quite a few of us who don't think that Bette & Tina should be together. They are a very unhealthy couple.

Just because Bette was Tina's first love doesn't mean they should end up together. I think they're nostaligic for a romanticized version of their past relationship and none of the core issues have been resolved. Even Shane & Alice have said as much when they confronted Tina inside the tent at the campground. I believe Bette is as self-centered, self-entitled as she was in the beginning of this serious.

I agree about her playing off as being the "victim" - she doesn't seem to take responsiblity for what she did. Just my opinion as to how I see it.

And PS - it's 9 episodes.

OMG! I totally agree....Bette and Tina are a downer. I love Tina but she could do so much better than that psycho Bette (girl figure out what you want!) I'm sure once the "newness" of the relationship with Tina wears off, Bette will be back to her *****y self.

I love Helena - glad she's back!!

Alice is the same song, different tune - argh! So is Shane.

Did anyone else notice that the Shane/Phyllis/Molly scenario was very similar to the season finale they had a couple of season's ago where Shane was confronted by her cheating father as being "just like him" and so what does she do, she dumps Carmen at the alter....similar to her inciting a break-up with Molly.

Glad Molly said what she said to Shane though.

Not to be picky Pam, but it IS 8 episodes...

"Showtime has renewed the drama for a sixth and final season, which will make it one of the premium network's longest-running series. Eight episodes have been ordered, targeted to go into production in early summer for an early 2009 premiere."

And yes, in real life, the odds of a couple like Bette and Tina making it work are remote. There has been too much hurt and betrayal. However, nothing about The L Word is real life, so for many fans, Bette and Tina are wish fulfilment material. True love can overcome all obstacles and win through. There is no way Ilene Chaiken would dare break them up again in those final 8 eps IMO. Loooong wait for them anyway..

Does anyone wonder how Jodi relied so much on audio for her multimedia piece when she's deaf? Am I missing something?

I totally agree Rachel. That Jodi debuts a "multimedia sculpture" with audio is, albeit impressive, among many unrealistic events that unfold in the last few episodes of this season.
