Brunotoniolli_dancewar_240 We've finally come to the finale of Dance War, television's most confusing talent competition. But, on the bright side, we get to learn the identities of the Season 6 cast of Dancing with the Stars. Let the filler-o-rama-lama-ding-dong begin!

Spoliers and Cast members below!

So...we start off with a recap of the ENTIRE season week by week complete with commentary from Carrie Ann and Bruno. It seems to me that C to the A was thinking more based on chemistry and blending from the beginning while The Big B was picking more based on individuals he liked.

Now for the combined number with both teams and Drew Lachey singing "Stepping Out with My Baby" by Tony Bennett. They make Drew dance. We're fully back in the lounge of the Lido Deck. Don't forget to pick up your drink from Issac the Bartender. That said, it wasn't bad but it was totally Vegas show circa 1960.

Afterwards, we get Team Bruno's opening number package opening with their reaction to winning last week. They have a day at the pool with some smoothies. Bruno then goes on a spiel about how he now has his vision of his group. They'll be revisting "These Boots Are Made For Walking," which they have to alter given the fact that they're missing a member from when they first performed it. Lacey's vocals were much better than the first time as were the guys' harmonies - though still a little empty. Bruno was much with the platitudes as usual. Carrie Ann gave general props and a special big up to Kelsey for becoming a singer.

Now is Team Carrie Ann's recap reliving last week's elimination of poor Alyssa who's super broken up. She asks if she can still come to rehearsal. They're all sad but they pull it together. They're repeat performance is "Papa Was A Rolling Stone," which isn't a surprise as it was their first performance that really gave them any buzz. Bradley was much better this time around and everyone delivered solid vocals on the whole.

Next is the first round of announcements of the new Dancing With The Stars line up, brought to us by Kenny Maynes, Jerry Rice, and Lisa Rinna of DanceCenter. And I think Kenny is wearing blue eyeshadow. Marlee Matlin, Penn Jillette, and Marissa Jaret Winokur are the first three named. Penn Jillette fills the "too tall for his partner" quota.

We get to see Team Bruno record their first single called "Falling in Love." I'm thinking I'm not going to be impressed. Phillip says that he comes to life when the lights are on and he's in full costume. And by full costume he means shirtless. Later on, Bruno plays the finished song for them. Kelsey didn't recognize her voice initially and was in disbelief. Gee, I wonder why. *coughSTUDIOMAGICcough* I'm not saying she can't sing, I'm just saying I smell overproduction.

Huh...what do you know. It's not nearly as bad as I thought. They all perform well, though I think Kelsey pulls it off a little better than Lacey only because it's not a difficult song to sing - like "These Boots..." or any Diana Ross song. There's still too much unison singing for my liking but overall it was good. Carrie Ann compliments them on becoming a balanced group/team.

Oooo...more Dancing With The Stars cast members. Adam Corolla? What? Noooooooooo! Kristi Yamaguchi? This is insanity. And last announced...Actor (and Chilean Air Force Pilot) Cristian de la Fuente. Helloooooooo Nurse!

And after a commercial break, we get three more names. Tennis player Monica Seles is named first. Wait, what?!? R&B star Mario? And Guttenberg! Steve effing Guttenberg!! Pure insanity!

Okay, so after officially warping my world with the Guttenberg announcement, the tape rolls as Team Carrie Ann learns and records their single called "Come With It." Carrie Ann plays them their recording and they're super excited and happy. When they performed it and I got to hear it in its entirety, I really liked it. I mean, it wasn't Shakespeare but it was definitely a good number with clear vocal lead lines, solid harmonies and great choreography that really featured each member. Honestly, there's something about them that really just clicks - something intangible that Team Bruno doesn't quite have.

All right, our last three Dancing With The Stars cast members are Football player/eye candy Jason Taylor, Actress Shannon Elizabeth, and...Priscilla Presley. This cast is...insane. I keep using that word but, seriously. The participation of some of these people has truly blown my mind.

For their final group number, both teams join together to perform "One Night Only" from Dreamgirls. And it's back to the Mermaid Lounge. Also, I think the Barbie & The Rockers doll named Derek wore the same outfit Zack is wearing.

So...after 70 minutes of filler, we get one more bit of pre-packaged fluff about each team talking about themselves and the other team. The problem is that Zack and Lacey are angering the karmic gods by talking massive amounts of smack about Team Carrie Ann. Qis and Chris put in a few jabs themselves, but not nearly as bad as the other two.

And the moment of truth...the winner, after 5 more minutes of time stretching, is...Team Bruno? Ugh. I call bull. Again, it's not that they're not talented, I just don't like them as much - partially because of Bruno and partially because of my personal aesthetics. If Disney is smart, they'll sign Carrie Ann's team anyway.

So what are we thinking? Did the right team win? But more importantly, what do you think about the Season 6 Dancing with the Stars cast?

I agree with you on the count that Team Bruno isn't completely bad but they definitely don't have the spark of life that TCA lives with. Maybe that's because they were beaten down by two losses of team members... or maybe it's because of other reasons. Regardless, I feel something's a bit fishy with Team Bruno winning based off of last weeks performances. Technically they did more dancing but vocally, visually, and all-out entertainment factor... Team Bruno didn't capture my attention nearly as much as TCA did, as well as my heart. TCA and Team Bruno, bless their hearts they did work really hard. Maybe it'll be like another American Idol spin where the winners are celebrated and maybe come out with a few somethings but the real winners are the runners-up, who end up doing far more and better than the announced winners. We'll see... only time will tell.

You 2 are NUTS. Team bruno is SEX ON A STICK. they had all the right moves and looks of a GREAT pop group!

Chadly | Feb 18, 2008 8:17:35 PM | #

First of all, Steve Guttenberg rocked my freaking world. Penn will be out by episode 4, but he'll be back just like Kenny for comic relief every subsequent season.

I’m not surprised that Bruno's team won. Not in the least. This team shaved off the fat early in the competition, which let the stars really shine out, and let's face it - Bruno had more inate talent on his team than Carrie Ann did... with the possible exception of Mariel.

I think it’s unfortunate that the show's format got laid out the way that it did - with teams locked into place, rather than revolving teams each week with people voting for individuals - because my “dream team” by the end of the season would have been individuals from the two groups:

Zach, Quis, Chris, Kelsey, Mariel, and Elizabeth

I think that would have been the most commercially successful grouping. As it is, I highly doubt I’m going to buy this record when it comes out, and I’m not really into this show’s format enough to watch it if they renew for next season (though I highly doubt they will).

I am happy Team Bruno won to the fact I think his team is more polished that TCA.

Big T | Feb 19, 2008 12:37:27 AM | #

Wow I am surprised. I dont think Team B should have won. I will say they are arguably better dancers as a group and (better looking people) but they are getting a recording not a dancing or modeling contract- and they arent nearly as strong vocally as Team CA. I would never buy their music. Team CA had more spark and more chemistry and the best blended vocals. Oh well.

Erin | Feb 19, 2008 3:04:34 AM | #

Im with Erin, TCA should have won..much better vocally!!!

Zac | Feb 19, 2008 3:51:15 AM | #

Last season, we had a dancer with one leg thisseason we get a dancer who is DEAF!! (I figuared I better shout)

Come on ABC! Your D- celbrities aren't bringing in the viewers, so now we get a freak show.

Don | Feb 19, 2008 5:09:51 AM | #

Given the fact that the show was named 'Dance War', maybe it is ok that Team Bruno won. They were better dancers than TCA. But all thru the show, they kept saying that it was a show for "dancers and singers' and if that being true, then clearly TCA should have emerged the winners. Only Lacey was able to hit her notes on Team Bruno, whereas all the members on TCA could. I believe they will eventually become a group of dancers with Lacey singing lead.

Rachel | Feb 19, 2008 6:26:55 AM | #

The show is Dance War and Brunos team were the stronger dancers and I like their performances better. I didn't think either team had any really outstanding singers.

I was sorta surprised that Team Bruno won (um, do they get a real name or will they be presented to the public as Team Bruno... God, I hope not!). I liked their single more, so I'm hoping they actally make it.
I predicted TCA to win, though I wasn't that into them. They did have chemistry and sold their numbers, but in the smack talking sessions (which I really enjoyed by the way - I thought they all were being quite honest. People commented on strengths and weaknesses of the others and themselves), someone from TCA said himself, that while they weren't the sharpest technically, they had excitement. Guess that wasn't enough...
I've decided too that I'd like to see the show come back, but completely revamped - focusing on individuals, to create a combined group. With the competitors knowing that whatever group they're in initially, is just temporary.

Varris | Feb 19, 2008 8:09:20 AM | #

I think that Team Bruno was
the best team and I am glad
that they won. They danced
great and sang good.

Go Team Bruno.

I tuned in to the finale specifically to watch Kenny Mayne's announcement of the DwtS season 6 celebrities. I love how Jerry Rice is sort of his loyal sidekick on Dance Center, and both men are rocking those sequined shirts! ;-) I could do without Lisa Rinna, but it is nice to see other former contestants too.

I read some spoilers yesterday, so I already knew about Carolla, Yamaguchi, Presley, Seles, Penn J. and Marlee Matlin ahead of time. I was quite surprised to see the revelations of the rest of the cast, especially Steve Guttenberg! I know that he was a pretty big movie star in the 80's, but I figured DwtS would be looking for more actors involved with Disney projects (like Billy Ray Cyrus and Monique Coleman were).

I think that the DwtS producers are definitely trying to push for a female winner this time around, considering there have been 4 straight male champions. I believe that Yamaguchi has a decent shot at the finals, but I'm not so sure about the rest of the women.

Back to the Dance War finals, I think a lot of viwers were shocked by the results, but then a lot of people complain about the American Idol voting too! At least Disney should offer contracts to the members of Team Carrie Ann as well? Kudos to Drew Lachey, who did a great job of hosting (much better than Samantha Harris on DwtS). I loved how he was showing off his mirror ball trophy when Jerry Rice started making fun of him.

One last note about the finale: Did anyone else think it was a strange choice for the producers to pick "These Boots Were Made for Walking" as one of the songs? I know that the original version of the song was first made popular by Nancy Sinatra in the 1960's, but JESSICA SIMPSON also did a famous cover of it for the Dukes of Hazzard soundtrack a few years ago! It just seemed to me that it would be awkward for Drew to watch the performance (the ladies were dressed like Daisy Duke), since his brother Nick had quite a nasty and public divorce with Jessica not too long ago. Maybe if the women were dressed like Nancy Sinatra in the original version, instead of in Jessica's style it would have gone over better with me. :-( At least the DwtS producers never chose a Beatles song while Heather Mills was a contestant!

I think that team Bruno deserved to win. I did not like how TCA did not really dance, they did more singing. It’s called Dance War for a reason. I do think that TCA did a great job and they were unique with there dances but I think that team Bruno deserved it more I think they worked harder and each week they made lots of improvement.

Renee | Feb 19, 2008 9:39:24 AM | #

I can't believe team bruno won. I'm with Tamara saying that he annoyed me all season. I liked him on dancing but he was a pompous a$$ on this show. I think some razing is normal and I didn't think TCA went over the top but TB, especially the last episode, went beyond. How can anyone who's listened to TCA sing and watched their innovative dancing not think they deserved to win. I'm just really, really bothered by the TB win and think it was totally rigged

carrie | Feb 19, 2008 9:51:56 AM | #

I think Carrie Ann's team was much better then Team Bruno.

I felt both teams should get rewarded something, as you have very strong talent on both teams.

Elizebeth was awsome, and so was Bradley.

I had no problem with either team, just felt TCA was better then TB.

I hope that CA team get's noticed in some way, it is ashame for all that talent not to get noticed.

Sherie | Feb 19, 2008 10:01:18 AM | #

anonymous | Feb 19, 2008 11:52:13 AM | #

I'm extremely happy that Team Bruno won! I was rooting for them the entire season!

| Feb 19, 2008 12:33:14 PM | #

Guttenberg, LOL!

I think Team Carrie Ann got robbed. The whole point of the show was to create a pop GROUP, which they had down and Team Bruno did not.

Zack is/was engaged to Julliane Hough (I think), the It Girl of DWTS, so I'm thinking that might have had something to do with it. Or maybe I'm just clutching at straws.

Sean | Feb 19, 2008 1:01:38 PM | #

On second thought, maybe Team Bruno deserved it, they did have the better dancers and could still sing; Team Carrie Ann just had good singers and chemistry. /shrug

Sean | Feb 19, 2008 1:06:52 PM | #

Answer: Yes, Kenny Mayne's "Dance Center" is SUPPOSED to be a spoof of Sports Center on ESPN. Mayne is a sports reporter known for his sarcasm and dry sense of humor (I'm a big fan of his). Jerry Rice is there as a spoof of all those TV analysts who were famous NFL players (think Dan Marino or Troy Aikman). The whole point of those Dance Center segments is that Rice and Mayne are the LEAST likely people to be giving in-depth analysis on ballroom dancing. Hence, Kenny wears the eye shadow, blush and sparkly purple shirt. At least his comedy segments are WAY funnier than those Jimmy Kimmel ones! ;-)

As far as the quality level of the celebrities, they still have Marlee, who is an Oscar winning actress and Kristi, who is an Olympic Gold Medalist from the US. Jayson Taylor is better known around Miami I bet. I think most people have heard of Monica Seles and Penn Jillette. The rest of the "stars" might have more trouble getting viewers to vote for them. As for Priscilla, I do have to agree that she is best known for being Elvis's ex-wife.

Sandi | Feb 19, 2008 1:16:45 PM | #

All of these recaps have been skewed towards Team Carrie Ann, so it's no wonder you are shocked and upset, but in the end, Team Bruno was a more solid group in both singing and dancing. They deserved the win. Team Carrie Ann may have had more heart, but they definitely didn't have as much talent. The last 3 weeks proved that. No one's going to buy the CD anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

SJ Martin | Feb 19, 2008 1:20:14 PM | #

The Dance Center thing was mildly funny on DWTS but they discontinued THAT in favor of Jimmy Kimmel who is more than mildly disgusting.

Dance Center is NOT funny when you're so distracted by Kenny Mayne's turquoise eye shadow that you can't tell what they're saying.

DWTS had some class the first couple of years but it goes down hill every season. I saw the pairings today and Kym Johnson should quit. They put her with Penn Jillette - she can't get anybody worth dancing with for ANYTHING.

But that's okay - we can watch Priscilla Presley's lips move on their own for part of the season.

Yeah - I'm bitter.
