'The Celebrity Apprentice': Did you hear the one about the boss's daughter?
At the end of the last episode of The Celebrity Apprentice, and recapped at the beginning of this week's episode, Omarosa made a pact with Carol Alt that what happened in the boardroom would stay in the boardroom. What were the odds, going into the episode tonight that Omarosa would not use every single, perhaps small, advantage she could get, including going back on this promise, and do so as quickly as possible? Amazingly she stuck to her word for the entire episode, but that may be because she was never really in any danger tonight.
But enough about Omarosa, tonight's task was to create a 30 second TV ad for a pet adoption drive. Before leaving Trump, the teams had to choose a project manager, Nely Galán was elected the project manager for the women, and Gene Simmons for the men.
The women sat with the executive from Pedigree, who was clear on exactly what the company wanted from the commercial. Gene Simmons, not having watched past seasons of the show, opted to not meet with Pedigree, something the Pedigree executive would mention in front of Trump later on.
Without direction from Pedigree, the men spewed a number of different ideas before deciding to focus on Lennox Lewis with a dog. Had the men met the executive they may have found out that the man from Pedigree said he was more interested in stories than celebrity.
Soon after the concept was decided and Stephen Baldwin was chosen as director, Ivanka showed up at the men's meeting, and asked about their progress. Foolishly, Simmons made her wait a little before Piers finally began to answer her. The way it was cut made it appear as though Gene then cut off Piers as he was explaining the men's idea. Simmons, in a terribly silly move, said that he wanted to be sure that Ivanka wouldn't, simply because she was a woman, tell the women's team about what the men were doing. I'm not 100 percent sure that Gene wasn't just kidding around with her, and even if he was serious it wasn't so egregious a comment (despite how the promos made it look). It was only stupid because Simmons should have known that Ivanka would blow it out of proportion at her first opportunity.
Gene made some executive decisions about cutting shots and once everything was filmed he and Stephen sent the rest of the team home so the two of them could start editing the commercial. Gene may not have gone about it in the best way, but that many cooks in the editing room definitely would have been a problem. However, the rest of the team was displeased, especially Tito Ortiz. Ortiz, apparently, is a hands-on kind of corporate guy and he didn't want to leave the work to be done by someone else without his overseeing it. Ortiz lost the argument, but made a case for his not being fired tonight.
On the women's side, everything seemed to go okay, except for some small head-butting between Nely and Nadia Comaneci. It didn't appear as anything more than the two preparing for a possible confrontation in the boardroom though. There were some complaints about Nadia not ordering food, which Nadia stated were untrue, but that was virtually all we saw. Omarosa also threw in her two cents about purposely staying clear of the creative on this task. The episode never gave us any real glimpse into the women's creative process outside of their having met with Pedigree, so one can't judge the veracity of her statement.
In the boardroom Trump joked with Simmons about disrespecting his daughter, but Ivanka still seemed to take it very, very seriously. It made no difference though as Hydra, the men's team, won the task and Ivanka didn't have the opportunity to make sure Gene got fired.
Once the men left the boardroom the women's team seemed to lack any sort of energy whatsoever. After much of the team hemmed and hawed about who should end up in the boardroom Nely chose to bring back Carol Alt and Nadia. From what we saw it didn't seem as though Carol did anything during the task, which may have been the problem, but without seeing more than five minutes of what happened how can one be sure?
That was the single biggest problem with tonight's episode -- the entire thing was cut so as to make it appear from the beginning as though the men's team lost. The episode focused heavily on their discord and the promos revolved around the Ivanka/Simmons feud (which was blown way out of proportion). It all left too little time for the audience to truly find out what happened with the women. What the audience was left with was the idea that while the women did their job in something of a lackluster fashion, they did exactly what the client said they wanted. In the end, perhaps, just perhaps, the client didn't really know what they were looking for to begin with.
When the three women were brought back into the boardroom, Nadia stated that she tried many times during the task to say that the women were headed, creatively, down the wrong track (at least some of her complaining was in the editing room and after the fact though). Trump seemed to want to fire Marilu Henner, as much of the stuff she was responsible for getting on film didn't work. As Marilu wasn't present, Trump ended up firing Nadia because he believed that while she could lead herself, she could never lead a team. His reasoning wasn't terribly clear, but he's Donald Trump, it's his show, and he doesn't have to be terribly clear.
So, another one bites the dust. So long and farewell Nadia Comaneci, we hardly knew ye. Literally. We maybe heard you speak ten or twelve sentences over the course of the two episodes.
Ye want to know who else ye should know though? The guy who writes articles over at The TV and Film Guy's Reviews. He, at the very least, explains himself.

Carol Alt is HOTTT....milf
I agree about the Pedigree exec not knowing what he wanted. He told the women he wasn't interested in celebrity as much as stories, but then he picked the men's ad (which was all about Lennox Lewis & the dog) over the women's. What gets me is that these chicks are really bad about speaking up. Last week it was the nudie mag chick NOT mentioning how Omarosa told them not to use their celebrity to sell hot dogs; this time NOBODY mentioned that they were doing what the Pedigree guy said he wanted. Not that it would've mattered anyway, I guess. The editing on this show IS awful, BTW.
I personally agree that the men's commercial was much better - simple story to the point with excellent voiceover. The women's commercial had too much in it for a 30 second commercial.
I almost don't want to watch his season just because I can't stand looking at or listening to omarosa
I will not watch this show again until Omarosa has gone back to her life living under her bridge and scaring billy goats.

Yeah right...You almost don't want to watch because of Omarosa!Just admit that you don't like her but she's interesting. Her and Gene are the most entertaining ones so far on the show. Stop pretending like she's the worst person in the world!
I think Omarosa is great. She brings the drama. Tiffany Fallon and Nadia Comaneci were fired mainly because they were BORING. No one can accuse Omarosa of that.
