'My Fair Brady': Happy Birthday, Honey!

By Lisa Todorovich

January 27, 10:51 AM

Myfairbradymaybebaby_s2_240 Watching My Fair Brady, I realize I may have become exactly the bumbling rube that production companies assume reality TV viewers are: sometimes I think I actually know these people.

And I wonder how two people who don't seem to know each other at all (I mean really. Is it possible to misread the person you've promised to spend your life with that much?) could have gotten married and expected things to work at all. And is it possible that a man –- of a certain age, no less –- could agree to make a show without realizing he'd look like a such complete tool in it? But then I see the promos for the rest of the season, know that Adrianne Curry and Christopher Knight are cashing the checks, and it's like getting absorbed in the suspense of Apollo 13: it's harrowing, but you know it comes out alright in the end. Good for them.

This week, Adrianne and Chris celebrate his 49th birthday. She's planned a weekend getaway to Big Bear -– and then finds out he doesn't like cold weather. Fair enough. They hit the road. "When she drives, she tends to get frustrated," he says. "And she rehashes old arguments." And evidently omits wearing undergarments. But, moving on.

I can't help but find the argument she's rehashing, though, kind of interesting. Mrs. Knight says that for the past two years, her Mr. has told her she'd be a bad mother, and they'd be bad parents. Now, our girl here can be a bit of a drama queen, I grant you –- but if he really did say anything close to that (he admits he did), it doesn't seem insane that she'd be a little thrown by him suddenly changing his mind about babies.

So the Drama Queen and her Stick in the Mud spend a Winter Wonderland day, then get through the birthday dinner, and she's so excited about her birthday present "with an artistic flair." He's happy with the photo of her solo… then she busts out with the album of pics from the shoot with her friend Kelly. Yes, they're undressed. Yes, they're supposed to, ahem, "supply the fantasy." Yes, they're turned up a couple of notches from the average "racy" photo shoot from America's Next Top Model. But what's the big deal?

Hoo boy –- talk about going over like a lead zeppelin. Chris is uncomfortable, and doesn't know what to do about it. Of course, she locks herself in the bedroom. Then the screaming begins. "I did something that I thought you would find beautiful and artistic!" she yells. "I also know your feelings for her," he says. "I don't have feelings for her –- I have feelings for you!" she screams. "You are the only one I want."

Even the most cynical person has to appreciate her best line: "I am not a lesbian. I am a Chrissian."

So he decides to walk out, and says he wants a separation. And again, I say –- dude, you're 49 years old. You're in couples counseling. Do you really have no better control over your emotions or actions than to leave? She's explaining, over and over, that she didn't do anything untoward during the shoot, and that she loves and wants no one else. Further showing her therapy-earned chops, Adrian bellows, "The solution is not you abandoning me!"

Next week: How they put it all back together. Oh geez.

What do you think? Would you like the birthday present? Would your relationship survive this kind of turmoil? Does the fighting just make you exhausted? How badly does Chris need to grow up?

that show is moronic. But above all else, that lame 70's has-been Chris Knight is STUPID to get upset at his new wifey over some pics she took with another woman that were meant for him. Let's face it, he's lucky he has what he has at that age. Once again, what a moron.

My, my! The tension! The drama! OK, so I just do NOT get it here. SHE says HE said he would like to see her with her friend! And she does just what she said she would do, as apparently he suggested. Did he really say that? Did he say he fantasized about her and her friend? I did not see this, but then I have not watched each show either so I could easily have missed it. If Chris said it as Adrian says he did, then he is being quite the jackass here. He sure seemed quick to throw out the separation idea. I kind of liked what I saw of the pictures. Adrian is quite the babe and I fail to see what she sees in Chris, but I sure do NOT see Chris appreciating what it is he HAS in her. I'd be counting blessings and keeping my mouth shut if I were in his place, and appreciating my incredible luck of having such a hot younger babe sharing my bed...
