I know I've said this before but I feel the need to repeat the question: Why must host Tom Bergeron yell at us during the opening of Dancing with the Stars? I know it's suppose to evoke excitement, but really I just feel like a PA who got his coffee wrong and is being needlessly lambasted for it.

Spoilers below...

After the recap, I've decided that, while I really like Helio & Julianne's Quickstep, I like Mel & Maksim's Mambo a little better. Just a smidge. Because I think that's the first time I've realized that Maks was genuinely having fun while dancing with Mel. But Helio & Julianne get the encore, and deservedly so. They were very good again and the band had the same phasing issue they had last night during the middle, but still good for such a difficult song.

Next is a Gloria Estefan number with two pairs of professional dancers. Gloria even dances a little with the guys. All in all, very enjoyable. Brava!

The first couple safe is...Marie & Jonathan. Can't say that I'm surprised. Despite her problems with consistency, sympathy can go a long way and I doubt the general voting populace wanted to add any distress to an already stressful time for her.

Jimmy Kimmel returns with a pre-taped segment involving Tom Bergeron. It was funnier than usual, but that's not saying much this season.

Next up...Fatima Robinson and her crew for the Stars of Dance segment. I was really looking forward to this and I was certainly not disappointed. She's super rad.

Our next bit of filler is all about the dancers and their backgrounds, as well as what Len and some of the other professionals think of them. A pretty interesting segment - they should do it again next season, only earlier when more of the pros are around.

Gloria Estefan returns to perform "Conga" with a different two pairs of pros (Maks, Kym, Mark and Julianne). Once again, very entertaining.

To further waste our time, DwtS offers us a segment with Tony Robbins and some dude involved with "The Secret" discuss each contestants and their "will to win." Eh. Certainly less painful than the interview segments with Samantha Harris.

Helio & Julianne are the next couple to be announced as safe. And then there's a commercial. Bleh.

Okay, now, finally we get to the person who's going to be out - once again, not revealing who was in the Bottom Two. Mel & Maks get told that they're safe right before Cameron & Edyta are told they're not.

I'm not exactly surprised but I'm a little disappointed. Cameron takes it very well and then they show them the "journey to getting kicked off" farewell package. I think the producers are trying to get him to cry. He doesn't though. Not even when they play "All Out of Love" by Air Supply for his and Edyta's last dance.

Next Week: Two more dances and the personal lessons from Len.

Thats the end of the road for DWTS viewing for me. Once my favorite goes, I'm done. See ya next season.

Jonathan has always been one of my favorite pros-- appears to have no ego and generous with his partner in showing her off -- interesting though, he chereoed harder stuff for Heather overall than Marie I think. Still, Marie shouldn't win-- any of the other three could, though I still say sans Sabrina, Mel B is the best of who's left.

I am a little sad to see Cameron and Edyta go, but now they're one step closer to a Hough family showdown with Julianne/Helio and Derek/Jennie which is cool too. I actually liked this season even with all the backstage drama. The star I was voting for is out, but that doesn't mean that I will quit watching the show. Good luck to Marie/Jonathan, Mel/Maks, Julianne/Helio, and Jennie/Derek.

Does anyone know the song that Fatima was dancing to? Help would be great!!! Thanks

scikokitty | Nov 13, 2007 10:54:56 PM | #

I have been looking for that song too!

Sad to see Cameron go and Marie stay... but the finale is shaping up very well!

soooo sad to see beautiful Cameron and his muscles leave!! Jenny Garth really should have gone before him. Mel should win it all, but Marie has a huge fan base, and we dont really like Out of Country winners!

I "think" it was a Bonus Track on Britney Spears CD, or one that was not released.

The best thing about last night was Gloria! She really brought some much needed life to this pathetic episode of DWTS.

I can't believe Marie is still in this? Hello folks, it's a "dancing" competition. Not a "look-how-cute-I-can-be-in-a-cowgirl-outfit" competition.

Let's get down to the final two; Helio and Mel and really make it a "dancing" contest.

Thanks for the recaps Tamara!

I'm not sure I really care this season.

It hasn't had nearly the excitement of past years - there's nobody I really look forward to watching or who makes me smile.

I remember watching Drew and then Emmitt and always SMILING while they danced, and I haven't found anybody to make me do that.

I'm sorry to see Cameron leave - I thought he danced much better than he got credit for.

I sort of have a feeling that Mel B will NOT win - it's very hard to feel any sort of bond with her OR with Maks and I do NOT think they have fun together - in fact, I don't even think they like each other very much.

One thing's for sure - the end of the show is definitely a surprise every week!!

I'm upset to see Cameron and Edyta go because they were really good...but I prefer Jennie Garth to stay!
I don't understand why people are voting for Marie. She is clearly the worst out of the 5 (now 4). If she makes it to the final 3 I will be mad.

It should be Mel, Jennie and Helio final 3.

Cdog | Nov 14, 2007 7:52:42 AM | #

Well, I can't say that I'm surprised that Cameron and Edyta were the ones eliminated this week. Marie SHOULD have been eliminated, but I knew that she would get the sympathy vote. Cameron was the most improved dancer this season, and he always seemed classy and upbeat. He never complained or whined about the judges scoring **cough Floyd cough**.

As for the finales, I think that the producers want to see a brother/sister show down between Derek and Julianne. However, I would rather see Mel B. make it to the final two. Also, I'm looking forward to seeing all the eliminated contestants back for the finale.

I'm looking for the song Fatima danced to also- I'm pretty sure that it wasn't Britney... anyone have a guess?

Mel | Nov 14, 2007 8:17:33 AM | #

Upon mulling it over for a night (I've been trying to figure it out, too), I'm 110 sure it's not Britney and 99% sure it's a new single from Mya.

Tamara B. | Nov 14, 2007 8:26:48 AM | #

And upon double checking on Wikipedia, I can confidently say the single is called "Walka Not a Talka" from her 2007 album "Liberation." Hazzah for internet research!

I haven't watched the show since Sabrina was kicked off

CHANGE YOUR HEADLINE!!!

(Last night there were 5 to start....ONE couple was voted off)

There won't be 3 until next TUESDAY!!!!

CHANGE YOUR HEADLINE!!!!!

Am I the only one who find Cameron and Edyta a little icky together? He's married, right?

Julie | Nov 14, 2007 9:45:21 AM | #

He doesn't yell at the beginning except to say "LIVE" which I think is neat. Tom Bergeron is a great host with some intelligent banter.

How anyone could feel Gloria Estefan brings any value to this show is beyond me. What a snooze. Much like every other "musical" performance on the results show.

Josh | Nov 14, 2007 10:12:56 AM | #

Sorry, your right Tamara. :)

Scott | Nov 14, 2007 10:23:54 AM | #

Kathy, um...take a deep breath and calm down. There were 12 couples to start and there are now 4 left. 12 minus 4 is 8. So it is, indeed, the 8th week of the show (out of 11)

MathMagician | Nov 14, 2007 11:18:12 AM | #

I would love to see a DWTS all star show. All the winners and runner uppers against each other. That would be a great show

Julie | Nov 14, 2007 11:26:26 AM | #

Not a problem, Scott. It took me a long time to figure out who it was and Britney did pop into mind, but I knew the vocalist was too good for it to be her. :)

I chalk the confusion up to everyone using the same 8 producers.

Tamara B. | Nov 14, 2007 11:27:25 AM | #

I loved Gloria. Josh, you just need a little latin salsa in your life, that's all. :-)

And I like Tom Bergeron as a host. They just need to get rid of Samantha. She's pretty but pretty awful as a co-host.

Go Mel! Go Helio!

MiaCutie | Nov 14, 2007 12:23:58 PM | #

Sabrina's been eliminated, let's all get over it, and she's very hard edge, not a graceful dancer, so there... I had no idea Tom was so buff, and Samantha Harris conducts horrible interviews. She is sooo annoying. As the weeks go by, you would think she'd get a clue that nobody talks badly about each other, so she should stop asking these antagonizing questions dammit! Go Mel B and Helio!!
