'America's Next Top Model': Covergirl of the Week only gets you so far

By Liz Pardue

November 28, 06:20 PM

Heather_antm9_240 This week, America's Next Top Model continues a time-honored rite of passage: the Go-See, where aspiring Top Models must try and make their way in the (usually unfamiliar and non-English-speaking) world, pimping themselves out to fashion designers located all over whatever confusing metropolis the models happen to be located in. It's pretty much exactly what you'd expect, based on past seasons cycles, but the final elimination is a whole 'nother thing. (Fierce spoilers ahead...)

Our top five are very excited for the challenge, and meet up at PT Models, a Shanghai-based agency. Saleisha, she of the bubbly personality, is incredibly excited about the Go-Sees. Heather...is not. As usual, they have to run all over the city, meet with a bunch of designers, and make it back on time. NOT as usual, they get a translator to go with them, and a cab. Is Shanghai that much more difficult for a non-Chinese speaker to navigate than Tokyo, or Bangkok? Saleisha still claims that "you're on your own trying to find the designer's location." Heather, sadly, manages to get lost. Like, completely lost. Uh-oh.

Chantal, hilariously enough, has to wear a sheer dress while wearing hot pink underwear. She doesn't get great reviews for her walk, since the underwear is rather distracting. The first designer finds Saleisha dull, while Bianca impresses with her personality and her walk. So clearly, China is Bizzaro Land. Oh, and Heather? Still lost. When she finally makes it to her first (and only) designer, she gets praise for her look, but not her walk. Jenah's walk also gets criticized, along with her personality. China is harsh, yo. Saleisha, for her part, refuses to point Bianca in the right direction to her next location. Oooh, the claws come out! And then Chantal slams Saleisha for sucking up to the designers. (Before doing the exact same thing herself...thanks, editors!)

Heading back to home base is difficult, to say the least. Traffic is terrible, and Saleisha and Bianca are the only two to make it back in time. Wow, that may be the fewest ever. Heather, of course, beats herself up about being late. The other girls try to keep her from being so hard on herself, and even allow for a little primal screaming. That night, they all head out on the town, and are met by the lady from PT Models, who names Bianca the winner of the challenge. She lands a very unimpressive billboard for the Beijing Olympics ad campaign.

At the photo shoot location, the girls discover that Nigel will be their photographer (no pressure!), and Chinese lions and dragons will be their co-models, competing for attention in the photo. The styling is an odd mix of East-meets-80's. Jenah busts out the cocky sarcasm with Nigel, which is a bit risky, considering CariDee's experience in the past. She also privately criticizes his style of directing her, which she says threw her off. And it apparently did, since her shoot was way worse than usual. Her final shot is good, because she's apparently incapable of taking a bad picture, but she gets a talking-to from Nigel about her sarcastic sense of humor, and from Tyra about her arrogant attitude. Saleisha, on the other hand, completely rocks it. China IS Bizzaro Land! Nigel says she was his favorite to shoot, and she came up with a really interesting final shot.

Bianca only does an okay job at the shoot, but gets praise for her Go-Sees. Her final photo is strong in the body, but weak in the face. Chantal has a trouble with her posing, and gets criticized for being 20 minutes late back from Go-Sees, and for the aforementioned pink underwear. The judges love her final photo, though. Heather does well in spots, but second-guesses herself. She gets gasps of horror for being so late and making it to so few Go-Sees, and gets a mini-runway tutorial. Her photo gets great reviews, but Nigel says she was too stiff during the shoot. I'm a bit worried for Heather, to be honest, even though she's continued her neverending Covergirl of the Week streak.

In solo deliberations, the judges are all over the place on Bianca's picture. Heather gets praise for her amazing look, but not much else. They love Saleisha's improvement, but criticize Chantal's lack of confidence. Jenah's personality, of course, gets slammed. And now it's time to find out which models will be continuing on to Beijing ("The Fashion Capital of China"), and who will be going home. Saleisha gets the first photo, followed by Bianca and Chantal (what?!), leaving the two most photogenic girls in the bottom two. Wow. If you had asked me last week, I would NOT have seen this coming. In fact, if this were The Bachelor, I'd call this the Most Shocking Elimination Ceremony Ever.

Tyra acknowledges that Heather and Jenah take the best photos, but brings up their communication and attitude issues. Jenah finally gets the photo, leaving Heather out in the cold. I know you guys might yell at me for this, but between the two of them, I think it was the right call. They both took fantastic photos, but Heather really had difficulty functioning in the Go-See and Covergirl commercial environments, and had a weaker walk. Still, tough, tough call. And were it not between the two of them, I absolutely would have sent Chantal home.

And Heather's elimination isn't all we have to cry about tonight--Twiggy, the judge lending the most credibility to this crazy show--will be replaced next season by "international supermodel" Paulina Porizkova, whom I've never heard of, due to "scheduling conflicts." Well, nuts. While I miss Janice for the utter insanity and unpredictability, I thought that Twiggy often had well-thought-out comments, and was far more level-headed (and nicer) than the other judges. We'll miss ya, Twiggster!

Who did you think should have been eliminated? How do you feel about Twiggy's impending departure?

Comments

I have watched every show of Top Model and this one has me wanting to cry.

If they are going to let a person who is handicapped go on the show then there needs to be considerations. Heather obviously had a natural talent that just need love and care instead of back stabbing people. Put her in a loving and nurturing environment and someone who would actually coach her she
could do anything including commericals and getting around foreign cities. This young woman has so much class and it is my hope that she will rise above and find her place in this world. Who should have been eliminated? The one who didn't try to help Heather when she was lost....

I give up on this show. Every season the girls who actually look like models -- quirky, skinny, photogenic -- like shandi, the twins, heather -- get voted and girls who could NEVER find work anywhere else but on their "made for ANTM" cover girl commercials (Danielle, Jaslene...to name two of many)win...Heather did amazingly well and I hope she flourishes!

Delphina Rae | Nov 28, 2007 7:16:59 PM | #

I know Tyra is going to pay for this. I understand this competition has to be fair. But Jenah should have been the one to get up and go! I hope Heather wipes out the future winner of ANTM! But all the remaining girls did not have the natural talent that only Heather has. Jenah was a unprofessional mess. And Bianca needs an attitude adjustment. Bianca needs to go home next along with Jenah. I hope the judges regret sending Heather home because it was a disgusting mistake. I'm sure Bianca and Jenah will get in a cat fight and go HOME! And Tyra and the panel will have no other choice but to bring back Heather! SHe is the winner!!!!!!

heather shouldn't be babied. I think she's been getting a little more help than the rest of the girls because of her "handicap" but this is supposed to be a fair competition, and she was picked based on her talent not because the judges feel bad for her. once the talent goes, she goes. and thats the way things happen.

jazzykat | Nov 28, 2007 7:25:38 PM | #

Tyra is an idiot. Solicia is a drink of water, that looks like she is wearing a bowl on her head. Heather was by far the obvious choice. Tyra will pick Bianca, this show is not a competition, but a popularity contest.

Modelwannabe | Nov 28, 2007 7:33:18 PM | #

Ugh. Her "handicap"? Do some research on the condition, and then maybe you'll remove those quotation marks.

UGH | Nov 28, 2007 7:35:34 PM | #

I CAN'T WATCH THIS SHOW ANYMORE. I'M PARTING WITH IT. THIS IS TOOO MUCH. HEATHER IS A NATURAL. SHE WAS TRYING TO OVERCOME OBSTACLES AND WAS DOING A GREAT JOB. BIANCA IS THE ONE WHO SHOULD BE GONE. SHE NEEDS COACHING ON HOW TO HAVE A HEART AND HOW GOOD DEEDS PAY OFF. TONIGHT IS THE LAST TIME I WILL EVER WATCH AMERICA'S TOP MODEL. THIS SHOW SHOULD BE CALLED "AMERICA'S TOP BEEEYATCH"

pissedoffattyra | Nov 28, 2007 8:08:07 PM | #

tyra and judges.....what the were you thinking? oh,wait, you weren't! Heather was money in the bank for all of you, she is what America's Top Model should be about, an American Girl, with a handicap trying to make it in a world full of hate, a household full of hate and people like bianca....full of hate...tyra you make me so sad and sick. i'm boycotting this show. i will no longer watch your tyra show either. i have lost all respect for you.BRING HEATHER BACK!

whatajoke | Nov 28, 2007 8:11:14 PM | #

We love you Heather. TYRA and the judges are blind and should take America's opinion in to consideration. Um Heather was voted every week as Covergirl of the week! What the hell does that say...um that Heather was the favorite and the best and the most talented!I'm disgusted. Goodbye America's Top Model. I have to say my new favorite show is America's Most Smartest Model. Everyone should check that show out. It's great. I'm dropping Tyra and Top Model like a bad habit. Adios

What was the name of that chinese model at PT models, when they were told they were going on the go see? she was so pretty

Dawn | Nov 28, 2007 8:19:21 PM | #

I AM SO MAD THAT HEATHER WENT HOME! I mean, I'm sure there are models out there that have certain issues and with the right coach and trainings they bloom. Heather was so unique and awesome - Jena's teeth make me want to puke like past melrose b. - biana does not look like a model - salesha (if you watch her interview on the website) didn't even COME to antm wanting to be a model she came with her friend for fun to try out!! - and chantal is pretty but not a 'MODEL'. boo you tyra

ashygrl | Nov 28, 2007 8:20:11 PM | #

It is unbelieveable to me that heather is know longer part of the show. this young lady overcame many obstacles. She was a great example for everyone who wants to achieve great things in their lives. heather is truly a winner. in past shows tyra was more than willing to fix a modle's teeth or help with a speach coach. why couldn't she help heather with positive support and encouragement. the other models are not good examples. in fact it is sad to see how ugly people can be. this show is a waste of time. Bless you heather you will go far in everything that you do in life. don't give up.

annette | Nov 28, 2007 8:40:13 PM | #

This is my last time watching ANTM. Heather was the best choice. Any Agency will assist her for her type of disability and anyone can get help navigating a city and learning lines, but you cannot learn how to be as beautiful as Heather in on the inside and out. She was the most real person on the show this season and none of the others left can hold a candle to her beauty. In fact I am increadibly dissapointed in Tyra herself because the americans with disabilities act would require an employer to assist Heather with her disability and it was not giving her an "edge". How dare Tyra treat her with such disrespect as to put her down in that way. And what Heather put up with in the house was amaizing, I don't know how she kept her cool so well. Those women left in the house have no place with decient people. After seeing how they treated Heather, I wouldn't support any of them or purchase any products they were modeling.

Tyra, are you out of your mind? Heather is GORGEOUS. Her photos are so interesting! The remaining girls... yawn.

katiec | Nov 28, 2007 9:06:29 PM | #

I'm so mad that Heather got voted off. She took the best pictures and is actually a nice person. Good Lord. ANTM is my favorite must see show and always has been from day 1, but now I don't care. For a girl with a disability, she did VERY well. Tyra has lost touch or something....... And for Heather......KEEP GOING!!!! YOU TAKE THE BEST PHOTOS AND YOU HANDLED YOURSELF WELL...... GOD BLESS !!!!!

I am utterly shocked at tonights result. I have been watching this show for years and tonight I have never been so disappionted. Heather is a true Diamond amongst the sea of wannabe models. She has got high fashion written all over her. Bianca, well all I can say is that quit playin', you'd be better off doing colgate commercial with that big mouth. Stop frontin' It's all good though, when Heather's runwaying for Christian Dior and Alexander McQueen, we'll see who has the last laugh

Norther Star | Nov 28, 2007 9:16:28 PM | #

Hmmm. I loved Danielle and Jaslene...I was rooting for them from day one. So I thought, perhaps, Tyra and the minions would pull this season out of the bag. But, alas...this was not so. I told my friends I would stop watching the rest of this season if Heather got voted off...and I intend to stay true to my word. Tyra and Twiggy are annoying, in my opinion. Good riddenz Twiggy! Tyra...get over yourself. Heather, you'll do just fine.

Unfreakingbelievable! First Sabrina on Dancing With the Stars and now Heather. Yes, she was strange, quirky and literally lost. But jeez Louise, that girl had an ethereal, other-worldly look that the others couldn't duplicate on their best day. I was shocked. I believe she should have been given one more opportunity to shine. After all, she won two challenges, and, to some degree, was emerging from her social cocoon. This decision doesn't say much for the judges, who seem to want to give "plus size" and "challenged" girls a chance to model. Not only did Heather take better photos than Jenah, she had a better attitude. The only thing that bugged me about Heather was her posture, which, when you think about it, spoke volumes about her confidence and social skills.
Se was my favorite. Good luck, Heather. You rock.

Phoebe | Nov 28, 2007 9:29:02 PM | #

Count me among those who think Heather should have gone home LAST week. Heather is overrated. Yeah, she's pretty. So what. All the girls are pretty. People like her because she's got Asperger's and people think she ought to get some kind of preferential treatment because of it. Well, welcome to the biggest dose of reality I've seen so far from this reality show. In the real world Heather would be eaten alive. If she really wants to be a model, she's got a lot of work to do. She may have a handicap, but so do a lot of people, and she shouldn't be handed the crown just because people pity her.

I suggest that Heather a) work on her people skills; b) stop slouching! c) try to be more fluid and graceful (ballet classes? pilates?) and d) not be so self-defeating. Oh wait, didn't the judges already tell her all that? It's not too late, Heather, so do the work if you really want to work it.

Siansonea | Nov 28, 2007 9:52:44 PM | #

SCREAMS! What is matter with you, TYRA! Are u blind or what? I cannot believe it! Heather is amazing model!!! By the way, Im deaf guy and I wonder, if I was on America's Next Top Model and would you vote me off, Tyra? That what I thought... geez, you are a bitch whore ever I seen!
Heater, Stay Strong and I believe in you. Someday, a company will bid u as a model! You are my Hero Model! Mwahies.

Mr. Green | Nov 28, 2007 10:00:26 PM | #

Unfortunately, the people who were making ANTM interesting, are Heather who left tonight, and Twiggy who leaves soon.Obviously the winner will be one of the two who made it back to the agency on time. They fit the usual boring stereotype that ANTM is known for. They are so boring, I can't even remember their names. The fact of the matter is, Heather is gorgeous, talented, and a real person! That's why America loves her. Her photos were amazing. Put new models in Hong Kong, and like they are going to find their way around by themselves. Please. Anyway, put Heather's photo in any magazine and it will sell.People love her. Bad mistake ANTM! Your loss is other's gain.

Joan Schilling | Nov 28, 2007 10:02:08 PM | #

LIZ: I believe Cycle 6 (Bangkok) had the fewest number of people who arrived on time from go-sees with zero. I remember the representative of the agency declaring no one the winner of the challenge since everyone was late, with her then saying that if Dani had arrived on time, she would have won.

Mr. Green: I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have even made ANTM because you're not a woman so....(or are you?)

By the way, let's realize that ANTM has had people with disabilities before. Amanda. She was partially blind. And she still had to do the go-sees in Tokyo with no extra help. And do runway in the dark. Remember? Mercedes for being sick all the time with Lupus. You might also might want to count Adrienne for possibly being mentally retarded (ooh burn!).

I'm a big Heather fan but I do realize that she failed big time with her go-sees. To only have seen 1 designer and yet arrive late is a big no no. She should have been more prepared. I don't think her Asperger's would have been a big damper to her sense of direction. Although I could have seen her condition affect her interactions with the designers.

Now believe me, Heather made this cycle for me. Sad to see her go so soon. I wanted to see more of her. This will be the most uninteresting top 2 since Cycle 7 with CariDee and Smell-Rose :P

gus | Nov 28, 2007 10:52:19 PM | #

Well, I'm not surprised. I hate to say it. We were sucker punched, people.

I am, however, disheartened and done with ANTM. Tyra Banks is indeed a cruel woman. All the crap she feeds us about "breaking down models to build them up" is bull. The only "model" left who has a modicum of decency is Chantal, and that's saying something. The other three are such backstabbers. If modeling is a bitch eat bitch business, as Tyra seems to think, they should do fine. I watched most of this episode with the sound muted, and I could still see the meanness of cruelty of Bianca and Jenah. Especially Jenah. Saleisha is such a child and, girl, that haircut is doing you absolutely no favors.

If you are really pissed about the axing of Heather and being jerked along an emotional dead end path, then you should go to www.imdb.com, put Bankable Productions or Tyra Banks in the search engine, find her business address, and write her about your anger and discontent. And then stop watching. Really, she doesn't deserve your money and that's what she gets when you watch: ratings equals sponsors equals money. So stop. Pay her back that which she deserves.

EB | Nov 28, 2007 11:16:18 PM | #

I think Heather was the right choice to go. While it might not be the case in the "real" modeling world, Tyra has made it quite clear that in her modeling world, a model has to be able to make CoverGirl commercials and whatever other non-modeling nonsense that Tyra sees fit.
It was clear week after week that Heather could not function in Tyra's modeling world.
This is not to say that at a normal modeling agency that Heather wouldn't succeed - perhaps she will - but again, I think everyone needs to stop being so disgusted because by the show's own criteria, despite taking great pictures, Heather was the weakest remaining contestant.

Rachel | Nov 29, 2007 12:03:24 AM | #

Ugh. I have a feeling that Saleisha is going to win.

I'm not worried about Heather, however. She may not succeed in Tyra's world where everyone must be perky all the time, but she seems like a lovely young lady who should do just fine in the real world.

BTW: Paulina Porizkova was a big time model in the '80's (and is still absolutely gorgeous) and is married to the lead singer of the Cars.

Lucy | Nov 29, 2007 12:27:18 AM | #

OOH NOOO TYRA....this season was just diferent and interesting..all because of Heather the other girls are just boring and plain.. HEATHER I KNOW I WILL SEE YOU IN TOP.. REAL TOP MODEL.. I'm your fan... and you became my role model

I always like Heather, but I'm not surprised that she went home based on what the models on this show are judged on. You have to have a certain personality and be able to perform in front of a camera. I always thought it was stupid that they had to race back by a certain time with the "go-sees" - it's just unrealistic and no point to it. I'm not worried about Heather. The show was a big step for her and the person who said she should take ballet or pilates is right - it would really improve her body posture and make her feel good. Many of the eliminated models go on to actually model, and Heather is beautiful, so she probably will too. About Jenah - I never noticed any bad attitude on past shows, they totally played it up to have something to talk about for this show.

How can you have never heard of Paulina Porizkova? She was HUGE in the 80s and early 90s, and she still looks the same. She always seemed very smart, nice, well-spoken in interviews. I think she'll be a good addition. I like Twiggy, but she was just average for me.

Sue | Nov 29, 2007 6:35:39 AM | #

I'm not even going to touch the Heather being gone issue. I knew it was coming this week.

I am upset about Jenah and the judges slamming her personality so much. She is the only one there with a real personality. Sarcasm isn't always a bad thing. I really hope she wins it, but sadly she will be the next one to go. The judges have it in for her now.

Saleisha is always being praised for being bubbly and fun and in my opinion she is OBNOXIOUS. No one is that bubbly and nice in real life. I think it's just an act for the cameras. I have a sinking feeling that she will win it....

jamm | Nov 29, 2007 7:05:10 AM | #

Never heard of Paulina Porizkova? How old are you?

gdb | Nov 29, 2007 7:19:54 AM | #

I think Paulina Proskova was in Dancing with the Stars last in the cycle before this last one. She, unfortunately, was the first one to go. I thought she was beautiful and danced well. But I digress. I think she would be a good judge.

patty | Nov 29, 2007 8:48:31 AM | #

I too, am sad that Heather is gone. I feared it would happen because I just didn't see her doing well in the commercial or in go-sees and guess what? she didn't.
Of course, this is Tyra/ANTM world because I know (having done some commercial work myself - not as a model, but an actor), you usually get your copy more than 20 minutes before you shoot. So she could practice and/or get a coach. And normally, you can get a cab or car-service to take you door-to-door so getting somewhere wouldn't be that much of a problem.

If somehow Heather sees the fan support she has out here, and she wants to continue modeling, she'll do the following: take a dance/movement class - that walk and posture is really weak; work with a speech or acting coach to be better prepared for reading copy and presenting herself to potential clients.
ANTM likes to pretend that it cares about issues/problems that models might have, but really they always get knocked out because ultimately, Tyra always judges them by the status quo rules - they never break or even bend them. Just talking about the bad side of the industry but doing nothing about it is bs frankly.
Heather really is beautiful in an utterly unique way and she truly deserves a career, which I really hope she gets.

Varris | Nov 29, 2007 9:43:13 AM | #

I missed ANTM last night... thankfully... because now I am fully prepared to watch it on youtube and cry, scream and throw things at my TV set!

Heather was my all-time favorite! I have not been this depressed since April Wilkner was eliminated in season 2.

HOW can they let the audience favorite go?

WHY TYRA WHY?

I don't even care who wins now!

Lynda | Nov 29, 2007 10:04:58 AM | #

Well, they wouldn't have known who the audience favorite is since this was taped months ago.

That said, now that Heather and Lisa are gone and there's no Sarah or Ambreal to fall back on, I guess I'm stuck rooting for either Saleisha or Chantal (Jenah and Bianca aren't options for me at this point). It's like a child having to choose between peas and brussel sprouts.

ER | Nov 29, 2007 10:55:14 AM | #

Paulina P. was also the face of Estee Lauder for a long time, and did Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues aplenty, and is married to Rick Ocasek of The Cars (is that his band? think s, and I think they're still together). Also she is Czech but emigrated with her family to Sweden when she was young.
I'm embarrassed to have all this info at my fingertips, I must say.

Shira | Nov 29, 2007 11:01:03 AM | #

I completely agreed with the decision to send Heather home last night. I understand she has a disability, but in the real world, she would require someone to follow her around to every shoot and go-see with a sign saying "she has a handicap" because if we didn't all know that, there would be no way we could stand her. Even her one designer she actually made it to didn't like her. Without knowing, people find her off-putting and awkward and ANTM has always been big on the personality. I think they gave Heather more than enough help and she still couldn't make it. What would it be like if they didn't help her at all?
I actually really like Jenah. But I have to question what she was thinking joking around with Nigel?!?! I thought she was funny, but Nigel has always been touchy about his status and he is a bit of a snob, so he wouldn't have found that funny at all. Boo on him.

Mandy | Nov 29, 2007 12:06:11 PM | #

You people are nuts. How can you be surprised that Heather was sent home? How can you call her the best out of all of them? Her pictures were amazing but she couldn't do anything else. Her commercial was a mess--and yes, Varris, in the real world actors do get their lines more than 20 minutes before the shoot, but I think her problem was more with stage fright than with memorization. And the go-see fiasco? Ausberger's has nothing to do with intelligence so I'm not sure what her excuse is for only being able to find one designer.

I thought Heather was awesome, and I'll miss her, but I'm not blind enough to disagree with the judges' decision.

Shannon | Nov 29, 2007 12:41:42 PM | #

I have to say that I was rooting for Heather since the start of the show! Heather made the show interesting and gave inspiration to us all (even those without handicaps). Heather had in a light in her never before seen on antm. And now that she is off the show, I have to say that I have lost interest. I will probably still watch only because of curiousity, but I could care less about ANY of those girls left in the final 4. Bianca and Jenah's personalities turn me off, Chantal is too girl next door and has a big ego, and Saleshia is very beautiful and very genuine and is probably my fav one standing...but like I said, I have lost interest because I think that the Only 2 people who deserved to win are already off the show.....one of them being Heather, We'll miss you heather....

jojogrl | Nov 29, 2007 12:44:08 PM | #

A stupid move on the judges' part. Heather was the only girl that seemed to have some depth of personality and soul plus the perfect look, and not some backstabbing brat. If she desires it, I'm sure she will find modeling work. She has always looked more like a model than any of those other girls. I'm done with this show.

Gene | Nov 29, 2007 12:46:15 PM | #

As a mother of a child with Asperger's, I must say I was rooting for Heather, and I was disappointed to see her go. (I knew it was going to happen, since I have been spoiled about the final two) I'm still upset about it, though. She overcame so much, in an environment that would cause a "normal" person to lose it. To the person who said that she needed to learn to "work on her people skills" - Aspie's just can't do that. It's not how they are made! For me to speak to new people is no problem, but for my son it would be torture. While I do agree that the modeling industry is cutthroat, I had hoped that they would allow Heather to change some people's minds. Too bad I was wrong. I hope Tyra is ashamed of herself, but, knowing her, she's patting herself on the back for being such a kind, benevolent woman. Top Model got it wrong this season.

Mary | Nov 29, 2007 12:52:56 PM | #

I don't agree with Tyra thinking that this competition is looking for "bubbly and sweet" personalities. Is this her modeling world? Then how has Naomi Campbell been in the business for nearly 20 years??!! So i think Jenna shouldn't have to change her personality, having a dry, sarcastic sense of humor myself, but she does have to learn professionalism. There is a huge difference, and doesn't know it at her age. You don't joke with employers like you would your vixen friends beeach! And i loved Heather too. She is a better print model, maybe runway with some training, but commercials are not for her. And clearly this is a CoverGirl contract. But this show continues to choose not-so model like winners, which leads me to agree with Jenna yet again. This is more of a personality contest than anything else. Bianca is so not my idea of a Top Model. Paulina Porizkova...now that's a supermodel. I'm sure you all that don't know her will be acquainted with how successful she was.

Enzo | Nov 29, 2007 1:00:01 PM | #

Heather was the most interesting model they've had on ANTM for some time (the twins were pretty interesting, too, whenever they were on there). Elliminating Heather was a BIG mistake. After this episode, I have no one to root for! Bianca seems mean, and I used to like Jenah until she started talking about how "great" a model she thinks she is. Ick.

I'm also confused as to how Chantal and Saliesha could get this far in the first place! WHen you compare their photos to Heather and Jenah's, neither comes close. I'm just mystified with this "cycle"!

Cat | Nov 29, 2007 2:54:09 PM | #

IM sorry, but I am over Heather. She whined, she bitched, she complained, she wined some more. She could walk, she couldn't talk. What exactly was she an example of. I was SHOCKED she was voted off because all season she seemed to do no wrong, even though her pictures were average. OMG, the weed photo of her was the worst thing Ive seen since Lluvy's fish photo. Good riddance Heather. I won't miss you. Keep whining some more. No designer is gonna want to deal with you unless it is print ONLY.

Mark | Nov 29, 2007 3:58:50 PM | #

Face it Heather was nothing more than an UGLY HORSE faced witch. All the girls were scared and weirded out by her. She always looked like she wanted to place a curse on all the other girls. I will give it to her she took good pictures but unfortunately for her adoring fans that's not all modeling is about. You have to be able to walk and talk in commercials and things and stand up to the pressure of criticism and she couldnt do any of it. I knew last week she was getting kicked off because she began slipping the week before that you all just didnt want to see it. And then she blew the "go sees" and her poses later at the shoot sucked too. She was lucky that the judges were able to pull out a good picture for her judgment. Nigel was right its not that she always modeled great. Even the blonde haired guy, i forget his name, but he had to tell her they weren't playing football cause of her ugly poses. And if thats not enough allow me to remind you she looks like a HORSE...and Saleisha was and is the best all around model this season...bitchys

QuitBitchyn | Nov 29, 2007 6:08:23 PM | #

I liked Heather but it was definitely her time to go. She lasted so long because of her natural talent and great pictures. Her outlook and personality did her in. It pisses me off when young people have so much going for them and still whine like little brats.

The judges really need to stop slamming Jenah. They have it out for her. I hope not but I have a feeling she's next to go. Tyra needs to get off her high horse - it's really offputing and I feel she condesends and talks down to Nigel. She's got the goods and the experience but her sh*t can stink too.

I know who Paulina is but I feel she's a weak choice for the next judge. Then again Twiggy was just a seat filler too.

JennieBean | Nov 29, 2007 6:13:44 PM | #

Too Many Opinions, but everyone is entitled to theirs. I really like Lisa, she was edgy, unique, and daring. I was dissappointed she went home. Heather did so much worse than Lisa. Lisa should have been around much longer. And no matter what you say about Jenna, I think she's got it. She knows HOW to be a model.

Love the Show | Nov 29, 2007 9:21:33 PM | #

1. Asbergers and ADD are DISABILITIES.
Heather wasn't gaining and 'edge', when Mr. Jay gave her the lines for the commercial, she was struggling to function in an environment where the odds were stacked against her.

She should also have been given help with directions and introductions with the designer(s) to help her manage the assignment better.

2. I can't believe that Tyra didn't say something about the girls being mean to Heather in the house and also not helping Heather when she was lost.
I thought Tyra was more concerned for the girls' welfare than that......remember when she had sit-downs with the girls in other seasons and discussed their concerns and fears?

3. I still love ANTM and respect Tyra...but I am disappointed in what has happened with Heather. I think her situation should have been handled differently.

Heather, if you're reading this........Hang in there, Gorgeous! Don't let the haters bring you down.

Ummmm OK | Nov 29, 2007 9:27:20 PM | #

I guess this means someone else has to win that weekly Revlon (or whatever) vote for your favorite model competition thing.
Heather on a roll with that, but it was past time for her to roll her whiny butt out of the competition. She took some pretty good pictures, but her commercial and other communication skills were horrible.

MGC | Nov 29, 2007 10:51:25 PM | #

Give Tyra a break, the Girl Heather was at her end, It is because she is white and handicapped that so many people are so in love with her? I think so, if she were black with a handicap nobody would feel this way about her being eliminated. Give me a break.

Billie Jo | Nov 30, 2007 9:06:37 AM | #

I understand why Heather went home. But, pitted against the other girls, she really was better in many ways. Her looks and photographs were above all the others.

When you look at true high fashion models they do look more like Heather and the twins (from previous cycle). Bianca, Chantel, Salesha don't look like models at all. I do like Jenna because she is different looking, but those teeth...

We should all DVR ANTM next week so it goes down in the ratings. That will give Tyra something to think about.

Brianaboo | Nov 30, 2007 9:59:21 AM | #

Wow, some of you people are cruel. It's one thing if you don't care for Heather's pictures or think she's not model material or like another girl better than her. But some people are critizing her for things (like social and communication skills) that are directly related to her disability. That's like calling a deaf person stupid because they didn't hear what you said.

ER | Nov 30, 2007 10:08:57 AM | #

Sp: criticizing.

Sorry.

Edie | Nov 30, 2007 10:09:39 AM | #

it was a very long shot that anyone with any kind of disability would make it in the fashion world as a top model. i loved heather's pictures, but her walk was horrible, and that has to be 50% of being a top model. she had no grace.

the fashion world is in no way "normal". most women, with no obvious problems, can't deal with the stress involved. antm is a rarified world for the models. they are coddled and lead at every turn. that's not what happens in the real world.

who wants to baby feed an actress her lines, or has any patience for someone who can't manage their time, or doesn't even show up? there's too much money at stake, people. it's a multimillion business. no one has time for anyone who can't toe the line.

i really would have liked to have seen more of heather, but it was obvious her disability handicapped her too greatly for any part of the entertainment world. she'll make a great print model. i hope she pursues that.

KR | Nov 30, 2007 11:49:53 AM | #

First of all, having Asperger's (and this is the correct spelling) would affect her sense of direction as well as her ability to find a location in a place without English printed signs.
Second, the whole she couldn't do it in the real world thing!?!?! Are you crazy?I personally know a model and she does not do anything all on her own!! When she is overseas she had a assistant with her at all times and she does not have a disability.
Third, working on social skills and fluid movement is so stupid to suggest. If you know the first thing about Asperger's or anything at all about Autism you would know that would be a waste of time. She is doing very well given how huge of an obstacle is in her way.
Did you guys know that 1 out of every 150 children in this country now has been diagnosed with ASD's (autism spectrum disorders including Asperger's).
And last but not least when someone in a wheelchair is given a ramp to enter a building they are not getting an unfair advantage.... actually they are being allowed to play on a level playing field. So if Jay read lines to Heather that did not give her a leg up you morons!!! It made the playing field more level. You may think she "seems fine" but educate yourself and stop being so ignorant and you will know that she has to work 100 times harder than the other girls just to have a simple conversation!!!!!!
WE love and miss you Heather. You were the best thing that has ever happened to ANTM. I will never watch the show, buy CG products or 17 mag for anyone ever again!!!! Shame on Tyra.

Rebecca | Nov 30, 2007 12:17:22 PM | #

Everybody is crying about how Tyra runs Tyra's show but thats Tyra's baby and she'll raise it how she wants to. And anybody who is a parent has to respect that. Heather aka HORSEFACE did take great pics but that was all she did well. And like i said there is WAY more to modeling than just pictures .The same way that a lot of girls come on the show who are pretty but CANNOT take good pictures. In Heather's case she was the opposite: ugly with horrible posture but COULD take photos. And its not Tyra's job to babysit the models anyway. This is not model training camp its ANTM...in other words its a contest. Thats like getting mad cause a girl you liked in a pageant who had ausbergers or something else lost. So you wouldn't watch the pageant anymore? Its pretty much the same thing they're both contests. Who's fault is it anyway that Heather never really took modeling that serious. And by that i mean she had never gone to any training camps or had done any modeling in the past or anything. She pretty much just came on this show and tried to wing it on raw talent. The girl who deserves to win, Saleisha, on the other hand has had some modeling experience. So just comparing the resumes alone who do you think should get the job? I mean lets face it...most of the people in the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB and Professional Cheerleading, Golf, and Tennis have one thing in common: they all went to training camps during the summers growing up and played every season in school not to mention pickup games here and there. I dont know why so many girls come on this show with the mentality that they dont have to train as hard in their profession. Modeling just like professional sports takes practice. And Heather was a one trick HORSE all puns intended because. And the whole revlon thing was great but just because a lot of people are rooting for you means you should win? Again i have to refer to sports on this one. If thats true the LA Clippers fans in the NBA are long overdue. Just because so many people were voting for her/feeling sorry for her doesnt mean anything because this isnt American Idol. Its about who is the best all around and thats Saleisha. And to the fans of Jenah she does have some personality flaws and that does matter because who wants to work with a butthole. All things equal if you had to hire one of two employees equally skilled but one had an attitude and the other was pleasant who would you hire...rhetorical question. Not to mention she got on Saleisha for kissing ass during the "go sees" and then turned around and did the same damn thing. Truthfully i hope she gets kicked off next and then we will be down to the best gils this cycle. And for the record, cause i know i sound like a die hard Saleisha fan, i originally had picked Lisa as the winner. Then as the show progressed i predicted Lisa would get dropped because she lacked the confidence and overall skill even though she was gorgeus and Saleisha or Heather would win becaus Saleisha had it all talent wise and everyone including the judges was rooting for Heather.

Heather was my favorite and I don't think it would have been unfair to have her translator stay with her on 'go sees' and provide assistance. Hopefully she will end up making a ton of money modeling and can hire an assistant to smooth the way.

Siggy | Nov 30, 2007 3:10:36 PM | #

So Heather's gone, well so am I.Show is garbage without her.Why don't you just get rid of Tyra and let Paris Hilton judge if you really want to trash the show further.I will no longer watch !

sandra bare | Nov 30, 2007 11:16:35 PM | #

The controversy now shouldn't be about Heather, but about the fact that one of the girls left has a past history with Tyra, including walking the runway on Tyra's talk show, and walking during on of the runways in cycle 6. This is clearly against the rules of the show. You cannot have any affiliation with Tyra and her entities, just like on any other "reality" show. Just a heads up.

j | Dec 1, 2007 9:14:40 PM | #

Its apparent to me that to have the stuff to be a "top model" you must be "witchy" and back stabbing. That is what stands outwhen you mention Bianca or Saleisha. Not the desire to wear or purchase makeup to look like them.

Patty | Dec 1, 2007 10:02:29 PM | #

Saleisha will win, she was picked long ago. T-zone participant? Tyra show runway model? model on that designer reality show? (just go looking, those three examples are easy to find) Just came on a lark with a friend who actually did want to make it? WTF ever. Lies.

Bianca has GOT to go, Tyra says she want her show to set an example? What, that hatred, venom, backstabbing, sadistic b***h?

So, if the two blondes go, we will be left with a cheater and an evil sadist....
If the cheater and the sadist go it turns into cries of racism in the industry...
WTG Tyra! It's a lose, lose situation for you this cycle, isn't it?

Heather is painfully beautiful, I wish her all the best of luck no matter what career she chooses. I hope you do a fabulous vampiress, succubus, or gothic fairy shoot soon, you'd take the world. ;)

Orchid | Dec 3, 2007 11:36:33 PM | #

Head's up people...Here is where everyone is confused.Tyra's contract/states you can have modeling experience ..However you cannot model in a national campaign ad.Plenty of the girls had modeling experience
Ya Ya, Melrose, Ambreal, Jade, Naima all these girls modeled before coming to Antm
I loved Heather just like anyone else, only i did not use her disability as a excuse for her elimination. She was eliminated because she did not complete her tasks assigned to her / case closed

I was so dispointed that heather went home she was the best on the show I thought that jenah or bianca should of gotten voted off because they had not a very good attitude .but I dont think that heather deserved the attitudes she got from the girls they were mean to her and i think that because they were jealous of her of her natural beuty she had and i hope they didnt vote heather out just because she had autism she was and i think she had come alot out of her shell since she was started.so heather dont be sad because u are a beatiful girl and dont let anything bring you down i hope there are clients waiting to take you sand i hope you blow witch ever model who wins right off the bat! keep on being gorgous!

Heather was by far the only gil that made the most improvement in this competition and she has been winning over and over again and she was an inspiration for everybody since day one I though that she was going to do the headlines and become america's next top model but when we get down to it it seems that Tyra doensn't really mean it when she says that you don't have to be perfect to become a model Im sad and im not watching the show anymore

laticia | Dec 6, 2007 9:31:31 PM | #

Problem is, she really didn't have anything going for her, beyond still pictures. Unfortunately, a ton of modeling jobs require more than that.

Runway? Nope. Her posture is slouchy and she has little grace.

Commercials, or any other venue requiring speech? Nope. She apparently just can't put her nervousness aside well enough to do the job.

Meeting people in person? Nope. When other people invariably find her strange, off-putting, and lacking in social skills, how is she even going to get a job at all? Even if (by some miracle) she does get a job, how well will she reflect on the product she's modeling or the company she representing?

I know she's worked hard to overcome her Asperger's, but she still has a loooooooong way to go.

Hazel | Dec 7, 2007 4:54:38 PM | #

I no longer watch that show because HEATHER is gone! D

Niks | Dec 7, 2007 7:50:58 PM | #

After all the seasons of America's Next Top Model, this has to be the first time I actually liked one of the girls because Heather is the sweetest, kindest girl that has ever been on that show. So how do they reward her? They kick her off..so they can pick some boring girl who you will never see once her "contract" with Cover Girl or whatever runs out..at least the judges got some sense back into them and eliminated Bianca!

Frustrated | Dec 8, 2007 3:45:25 PM | #

well to me heather is AMERICAS NEXT TOP MODEL even though she got eliminated

voltaire | Dec 9, 2007 9:22:34 AM | #

Man o' Man...I told ya'll Saleisha would win cause she was the best this cycle and Heather was an UGLY HORSE FACED WITCH and that's all I gotta say...........BITCHYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QuitBitchyn | Dec 12, 2007 6:03:32 PM | #

stop blaming Tyra for Heather getting eliminated. I'm a huge Heather fan but she was falling behind in performanc. Her "handicap" only really effects her people skills and her confidence. Plus Tyra may be the head of the show but there is like 3 or 4 other judges. Tyra's oppinion could be totaly overruled. So stop blaming Tyra for Heathers absence. Yes, she was a extremly talented model and she shouldent have been kicked off but stop saying Tyra suchs because she has done so many caring and selfless deeds that she is proubly a far beter person than we are.

i absolutely love this show. its concept and originallity lure me in each weak. personally, i thought miss jays fro neads to go!! it does nothing for his title. and imagine that thing on the runway- there is no way it could enhance the clothing he modles. if this is something he really wants to persue, maybe take a few inches off! i mean come on, it seems like it pracitally grows an inch a week! am i the only one to notice this? coming from a bald middle aged man, his proactive hair growth makes me incredibly envious and during the whole judging pannel i say, "get me aboard that train!" in relation to his fast growing hair. this being said, the show was a hit, but this prosperity can only last if we can actaully see trya banks from behind his hair!
