What did you think of 'Desperately Seeking Serena?'

Blakelively3_gossipgirl_240 Last night's Gossip Girl pushed the envelope further than ever before...if you missed it, no worries!  It will air again on the CW this Sunday at 6 p.m.  Even if you did catch last night's episode, it might be worth re-watching, because there was a new scandal at every turn, and you might have missed something!

'Desperately Seeking Serena' aptly captured the terror known as SAT prep...when high school kids are told by their parents and friends that their entire future will be determined by their SAT score.  Basically, if you do well, you'll get into a great school, get a degree, get a job with a salary in the six-figures, and be set for life.  If you do poorly?  You'll never accomplish anything with your life, and you'll probably end up homeless...Okay, I'm exaggerating, but that's definitely what if feels like to high-schoolers!

So everyone is pulling out all the stops to ensure the best score possible: for Dan and Serena, this means studying as much as possible.  For Chuck, this means paying someone to take the test for him.  And for Blair, this means deviously arranging for her major Yale competition to end up fighting with her ex-boyfriend the night before the SATs, so that she's an emotional wreck the day of the big test.

But then Serena's old friend, Georgina Sparks (played by Michelle Trachtenberg), comes back to town... Serena tries to explain to her that she has changed, but Georgina is having none of it.  The two go out together the night before the SATs, and Serena makes a point of ordering just a diet coke.  It seems like Georgina is more welcoming of the new and improved Serena when Georgina also orders a diet coke...but when Serena gets up to call Dan, Georgina dumps a vial of liquid into her drink.  Cut to the next morning, when Serena wakes up at Georgina's place, and has no idea what happened the night before.  Georgina says that Serena got a little wild and even made out with some guy.  Serena realizes she's late for the SATs, and calls Chuck, beginning him to "hold the doors" for her.

At the SATs, both Dan and Blair are very concerned that Serena isn't there.  As Dan calls Serena, he overhears a short red-headed girl checking in as "Serena van der Woodsen."  After he's done with SATs, Dan finds Serena and confronts her about the girl who took the SATs for her, but finds out that Chuck hired the girl to do it, and that Serena had no idea.  But Dan still wants to know why she's been acting so differently.  Upset with herself over what transpired the night before, Serena avoids talking to Dan about it, and he leaves.  Then Serena confronts Georgina and tells her that she wants her to stay out of her life, and threatens to take her down if she tries to take Serena down.  But Georgina is relentless...she finds Dan, who's chilling out in Central Park by himself, no doubt depressed about Serena's bizarre behavior, and Georgina starts flirting with him.  Don't think that it's just harmless fun; Georgina introduces herself to Dan as "Sarah," and she's clearly up to something!

But there were some happier things that happened last night too...particularly, two rather surprising romances.

The most surprising (and bizarre!) event of the evening: Nate and Vanessa went on a date.  And it goes well.  So well, in fact, that they end up making out at the end of the evening.  Nate loves that Vanessa embodies everything in him that he feels is "unacceptable" in the Upper East Side, especially her opinion that college is optional.  But he knows that Vanessa has been helping Dan study for the SATs, so the morning of the test, he shows up at her coffee shop and convinces her to take the test!  After taking the test, the two get in a car together...and Blair happens to see this.  She's, of course, surprised and hurt that her ex-boyfriend is dating her polar opposite.  But Dan, who also happened to see the two together, also looks surprised and hurt...could he secretly have feelings for Vanessa?

Another romance was brewing in last night's episode, and considering all the awful things that happened to Jenny in last week's episode (even if she did bring it on herself), she deserved to have a good guy fall for her!  The best part?  He's rich...i.e. a ticket to permanent popularity among the Upper East Siders she idolizes!  Of course, she's still grounded (stealing a $15,000 Valentino dress is kind of a big deal, after all), so she has to cancel their date in the park.  Much to her surprise, Asher (her new man) shows up at her family's Brooklyn loft with a grocery bag full of hot dogs, explaining that if she can't go to the park, he'll bring the park to her!  Even better, he charms Jenny's father and convinces him to let him in by saying that he wishes more of his friends parents "cared enough to ground them."  Sure, it seemed like Blair was back to being queen bee, but if Jenny ends up dating this guy, will the Jenny/Blair struggle for queendom only get worse?

What did you think about last night's episode???  Is Georgina going to trick Dan into falling for her?  Can Serena and Dan's relationship survive?  Speaking of relationships, will Nate and Vanessa get serious with one another?  And will Jenny's new boy toy make her popular again?  Lastly...why has Chuck started seeming like such a NICE GUY?
