'Real World: Ex-Plosion' cast member Cory on Lauren's pregnancy: 'I've had enough drama'
Things got extremely real on "The Real World: Ex-Plosion" on Wednesday (Feb. 19) night's episode. When Lauren took a pregnancy test and got a positive, things took a hard left turn for her relationship with her ex Cory -- just when they were starting to rekindle their old flame.
Just six days after Lauren moved into the house, and after not seeing Cory for a long time, it was obvious that the baby isn't Cory's. So after talking with her cast members and fighting with Cory, Lauren will pack up her things and leave the house in next week's episode.
Cory had a tough time finding out that not only was Lauren pregnant, but also the baby wasn't his. "It was life-changing, but there was a lot of personal growth. After this episode, I really just grew up a lot," Cory tells Zap2it. "After loving somebody for so long and finding out that she's pregnant by somebody else, it was tough."
He continues, "She didn't mean to do it. It's not like I hate this person, it's more just a fact that I've loved this girl for so long and now she's pregnant by somebody else. That's almost one of the worst things that could ever happen. I've never really been hurt like this before."
And this wasn't the first time Cory had a brush with unplanned pregnancy. His freshman year of college, he lost his athletic scholarship by dropping his sports involvement due to a pregnancy scare with a girl he was dating, but he later discovered that the story was a complete hoax.
"Freshman year, it was fake, and this [with Lauren] was not fake. But I never thought in a million years it would happen again," Cory says. "I thought the next time I would be talking about pregnancy would be when I was sitting down with my wife talking about kids, you know? We'd go through it then. I never thought I'd go through it on national television, when my ex would show up, learn she was pregnant, and have it be by somebody else."
He continues, "I have cameras in my face at all times while I'm trying to deal with this in a mature, responsible way but we're all human. It was crazy."
According to Cory, after Lauren leaves, she won't return to the house for the rest of the season. "She needed to be with family and friends," Cory says.
So what does that mean for Cory for the rest of the season? "Next for me on the show now that Lauren's gone, I basically just become the peace maker. I'm the single one in the house now," Cory says. "Everyone else has somebody else, some kind of a relationship. It's me, by myself, and that's kind of why I came on the show, to do me."
Cory is grateful that he's no longer at the center of all the crazy drama that's about to go down. "I get to sit back and observe everyone else's relationships," Cory says. "That made me grow up a lot because sometimes it is better to take a step back and analyze what's going on around you. I just want to enjoy the rest of my time here. I've already cried on TV, I've had enough drama. But me and Brian do get into it. Spicy spicy!"
"The Real World: Ex-Plosion" airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
