FOX's 'Gotham' casts The Penguin, Alfred Pennyworth and more
The cast of "Gotham" on FOX continues to grow. Following the announcement that Ben McKenzie will play the lead of James Gordon on the show, FOX has revealed four more actors joining the series, including two classic "Batman" characters.
Sean Pertwee ("Elementary," "Luther") will play Alfred Pennyworth. His character is described as "a tough-as-nails ex-marine from East London [who] has loyally served the Waynes. Now, in the wake of their tragic deaths, he's fiercely protective of the young Bruce Wayne."
Robin Lord Taylor ("The Walking Dead") has been tapped to portray Oswald Cobblepot, better known to "Batman" fans as The Penguin. He was most memorably played on the big screen by Danny DeVito in 1992's "Batman Returns." His character description reads, "With the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal, Oswald Cobblepot is a low-level psychopath (for gangster Fish Mooney) who hides his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanor."
Additionally, Zabryna Guevara ("Burn Notice") has joined the series as Gordon's boss, Captain Essen, and Erin Richards ("Being Human," "Merlin") will play Barbara Keen, an emergency room doctor and Gordon's fiancee.
There's still no work about the reports that Donal Logue is joining the show as Detective Harvey Bullock, a mentor to Gordon.
