A 'Doctor Who' love letter: Peter Capaldi allows for a fresh start
It's that time of year again -- candy hearts, boxes of chocolates, mushy cards. In honor of Valentine's Day 2014, Zap2it is penning some "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways" odes to our favorite shows.
Dear "Doctor Who,"
We've had our ups and downs over the last nine years, since you came back into my life. However, no matter what, through good times and bad, you've been there for me, and I for you.
We both know it's been a rough couple of seasons, though and after our last Christmas special together, I just can't ignore it anymore. Something is wrong. We just don't understand each other like we used to. I want memorable moments and clear adventures, you want an aging Doctor, ghost companions returning and a lot of confusion. At least you threw a motorcycle into the mix to spice things up a while back. I just fear it was too late.
The truth of the matter is I've fallen out of love with Steven Moffat, but not with you! I could never leave you and I wouldn't want to. To fix what went wrong, what we need is space. We can't simply rely on our years together to propel us to the future.
There's a brand new Doctor named Peter Capaldi coming later this year and that gives us the perfect chance to rekindle what we once had. Maybe to move forward, we have to take a few steps back. That's exactly what Capaldi can do for us, a reset of sorts. We can start fresh and get to know each other all over again, even better than before.
That's what I want, and I hope you do too.
I still love you,
