'Grey's Anatomy' to stay on ABC 'for many years to come,' says ABC boss
"Grey's Anatomy" is currently airing its tenth season -- a very rare achievement for a TV series to reach these days, and ABC's Entertainment President Paul Lee knows it.
"'Grey's Anatomy' is either [the] number one or two [drama on TV], depending on the week. Right now it's tied with 'Scandal' for number one," Lee tells a group of reporters during the ABC Winter Press Tour on Friday (Jan. 17). "[Executive producer] Shonda Rhimes is one of the greatest writers our generation has ever seen. She continues to write an immensely powerful show."
Lee is confident that the long-running drama won't be ending anytime soon. "It makes you laugh and cry every week. And to her enormous credit, it's completely different from 'Scandal,'" Lee says. "I love it. I think it's going to stay on the network for many years to come."
"Grey's Anatomy" returns Thursday, Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
