'Real Housewives of Orange County' Season 9: Lydia McLaughlin exits
Lydia McLaughlin, the most undramatic housewife in the history of "The Real Housewives of Orange County," has decided to exit the Bravo reality show after just one season. McLaughlin says the shoe's producers invited her back for more screen time in the OC, but she was ready to cut her losses.
"I never wanted to make a career out of being a housewife. That's never really been a dream of mine," McLaughlin tells Us Weekly. "I want to build my brand outside of the 'Housewives' -- I've always been really honest with the producers about that. I knew that while I was filming it that I probably wasn't going to be doing it again."
Though McLaughlin left the stage in tears during the televised "RHOC" reunion, she insists she had a great time on the show. "I compare it to breaking up with a boyfriend you know you're not going to end up with," she says. "It's hard, but overall you know you're doing the right thing."
The magazine entrepreneur says parting with the production "bittersweet," and says she's like to have a reality show of her own that focuses on publishing "Beverly Hills Lifestyle," the magazine she runs with her husband, Doug McLaughlin.
Also absent from Season 9 of "The Real Housewives of Orange County" will be Gretchen Rossi and Alexis Bellino, who were both reportedly fired shortly after the conclusion of Season 8.
