'Doctor Who' - 'The Day of the Doctor' trailer: Matt Smith and David Tennant, Rose Tyler working with dark Doctor?
The full trailer for the "Doctor Who" 50th anniversary special episode has arrived and it's jam-packed with Whovian goodness as Matt Smith and David Tennant share the screen as their respective Doctors. The best moment comes when they realize they both wear glasses, which is just perfect. Now, someone needs to get Tennant a fez.
So many questions fans have been wondering are addressed in the trailer, including just who this dark Doctor (John Hurt) is. "I've had many faces, many lives," Smith's Doctor says. "There's one life I've tried very hard to forget." The dark Doctor does indeed appear to be a past regeneration.
If the trailer is to be believed, the special episode will feature the Last Great Time War on Gallifrey, which appears in a painting in a video clip already released. There's also Daleks, Clara (Jenna Coleman) and Rose Tyler (Billie Piper).
Fans have eagerly awaited seeing anything with Rose since it was announced she was returning with Tennant for the episode, but what's shown isn't the bubbly, fun companion you're used to. Instead she brings an ominous warning, "The moment is coming." In the scene she's speaking with the dark Doctor. Is she working with him in the episode? If so, how do the two cross paths? As far as viewers know, Rose and the Doctor have no past with each other before Christopher Eccleston's incarnation. Her eyes also have that old "Bad Wolf" glow going on, at one point.
While the trailer answers questions that have been raised, it created so many more that will only be answered when "The Day of the Doctor" premieres on BBC America November 23. Geronimo!
