'19 Kids and Counting' Season finale: The courtship of Jessa Duggar and a ton of money
It's already the season finale of "19 Kids and Counting." Yes, we know. That was a fast season. We'll have to wait a few more months for more Michelle and Jim Bob, but tonight, we'll finally get to see the Duggar Family Flea Market finish up... and maybe more.
Throughout the last couple of episodes, Jim Bob has been working towards selling off a bunch of old stuff from their storage units, with all profits going to the Arkansas Children's Hospital NICU (where Kid 19 Josie was cared for during her first couple of months.) They wanted to raise $10,000 -- a lofty goal. Will they make it?
Jim Bob and Michelle bring the family together, and Jim Bob says some auctioneers have agreed to work for free, and the local radio station, with Big Dan the DJ (advertising) and police (parking) are donating time to help out as well. They ask the community to donate items to add to their already full stockpile to sell. And the people respond. And how. Piles and piles of unsorted stuff arrive (along with Cousin Amy, who is like the Duggar family comic relief.) Over 500 clothing items alone were donated. Six large tents and almost 50 tables are set up to display items. There's a bake sale and concessions and pony rides.
Like most things, when the Duggars go, they go big. And it's overwhelming.
Making it better before it starts - surprise! Josh and Anna and their kids come back home for the flea market! They hadn't been home since moving to D.C., and arrive just in time to work the event. And it's gigantic.
In the end, from cookies to televisions, hair bows to tractors, the Duggars raise a whopping insane $18,471.50 for the hospital.
And, in case you were wondering, Duggar fans, the boys won the "double" battle by selling all of their knives for more than the girls' hair bows and ping-pong ball guns.
At the very end of the episode, we finally get to what is probably the biggest news of the season. As was slightly alluded to in last week's episode and announced in September, Jessa has entered into a courtship - not started dating, mind you - with Ben Seewald, 18, of Hot Springs. They're texting, but in a group text, so Michelle and Jim Bob can read them too. And while we only get a couple of glimpses of Ben, we want to give him a hearty welcome to television. Maybe we'll see more of you next season.
