In 'Face Off' Season Five, It's Newcomers Versus Veterans
"Face Off" returns for season five, debuting Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with eight talented up-and-coming special effects make-up artists competing against eight past contestants hungry for a chance at redemption.
Unexpected twists and turns await in Los Angeles and the stakes are higher than ever. Michael Westmore, an Oscar-winning makeup artist and father of host McKenzie Westmore, returns as a mentor.
The first Foundation Challenge requires the makeup and special-effects artists to complete the looks of costumed partygoers for an elaborate costume ball attended by members from Syfy's new docu-series "Heroes of Cosplay."
Other challenges facing contestants this season include: creating a futuristic Frankenstein and his bride; a Morlock-inspired subterranean humanoid beast; an original living art character inspired by Cubism, Surrealism, Pop Art, Expressionism and Constructivism; a stylized alien for an out-of-this-world performance on the Reveal Stage with world-renown circus troupe Cirque Berzerk; a grim character inspired by one of the seven deadly sins; and an exotic flying creature/human-hybrid.
See whose design skills and talents will be up to the task of creating fully-realized character: Tune in Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Syfy.
