'Homeland': Brody almost died in Season 2, and Carrie almost left with him
Unlike other series like "Game of Thrones" and "Breaking Bad," "Homeland's" journey isn't set in stone. During a TV Academy panel held to discuss the series, it was revealed that Brody almost didn't make it through Season 2, though the show's writers were later convinced otherwise.
Howard Gordon says that "Homeland's" writers intended to off Brody in Season 2, which they also tried to do in Season 1. Both times Showtime convinced them to let Brody live, but in Season 2 the death was actually mapped out.
"We had sketched out this plan in the early parts of Season 2 which called for Brody's demise, which may have been premature, and they asked us to reconsider," Gordon says (via The Hollywood Reporter. The change is something Gordon calls "the happy accident of having very good partners."
Similarly, Carrie was originally intended to leave the United States with Brody, but eventually it was decided that it was more in character for Carrie to stay behind with the CIA. Do you think that these changes were for the better of "Homeland"?
