'The Voice': Christian Porter's 'Sexy and I Know It' cover a ripoff -- Who did it best?
Among the breakout auditions on tonight's Season 4 premiere of NBC's "The Voice" was white guy with a guitar Christian Porter's bluesy spin on LMFAO's deliberately cheesy pop hit "Sexy and I Know It."
But even though the "Voice" coaches praised Porter for his "unique" performance ("So much imagination went into that arrangement," raved Blake Shelton -- who Porter ultimately picked to be his coach), anyone familiar with YouTube viral videos or singing competition shows knows there was nothing remotely new about what Porter did.
Covers specialist Noah Guthrie already made the exact same version of the song a viral sensation last summer -- long before Porter taped his audition. Although there was no mention made of it on the show, Porter has acknowledged via Twitter he was "inspired" by Noah.
Last year on FOX's "The X Factor," finalist CeCe Frey did a similar spin on LMFAO during the show's sing-off rounds. And the most recent U.K. "X Factor" winner James Arthur also performed an excellent version of the cover during that show's competition rounds.
