'The Bible': Mark Burnett says Diogo Morgado will 'define' the role of Jesus on screen
History Channel's highly rated "The Bible" comes to a close on Easter Sunday (March 31), but it's not going away for long.
The miniseries comes to Blu-ray and DVD just two days after that, on Tuesday, April 2. You can take a peek at one of the extras in the home-video release right now, exclusively on Zap2it.
In the clip, actor Diogo Morgado discusses the feeling he got when he met with producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett about taking on the role of Jesus. "It didn't feel like a meeting, like a working meeting," the Portuguese actor says. "... I was like, 'I don't know what it is, I don't know what it's going to be, but I want to be part of this.'"
Burnett, for his part, thinks Morgado will now "define" the role for actors, although dozens of men, ranging from Max Von Sydow to Jim Caviezel, have played Jesus in the past. "I can't see how anybody else is going to play that role after this and not be compared to this," Burnett says.
The final episodes of "The Bible" air at 8 p.m. ET Sunday on History. The Blu-ray and DVD release hits stores Tuesday.
