'SNL' announcer Don Pardo misses show because of a broken hip

don-pardo-snl-announcer.jpgLong-time "Saturday Night Live" announcer Don Pardo was absent from Saturday's (March 2) show after suffering a broken hip.

The 95-year-old Pardo, who has been part of the show for 37 of its 38 seasons on the air, wasn't able to do the opening voiceover for the show with host Kevin Hart. TMZ was the first to report his injury.

Pardo "retired" from NBC in 2004, but he's continued as the "SNL" ever since. For the past couple of years he has pre-recorded his introductions rather than doing them live in the show's studio.

There's no word as to whether Pardo will return for the March 9 show with host and musical guest Justin Timberlake.
