Watch 'New Girl' or kill butterflies

If you don't watch "New Girl," butterflies will die.

That seems to be the message given in a new promo video for the quirky FOX sitcom. According to the message given, every time you **don't watch "New Girl," a butterfly dies. Thus, if viewers continue to not watch the show, they may be responsible for a Lepidoptera-cide (look it up, kids).

And we wouldn't want that.

Honestly, the best part about this video -- other than the amusing "New Girl" scenes which originally had nothing at all to do with butterflies -- is the way they inserted dozens of CGI butterflies into the show. The flying bugs even almost look like they fit. After all, if butterflies were to be incorporated into any current television program, it would probably be "New Girl."

Scientifically speaking, there is probably no correlation between "New Girl" viewership and butterfly numbers. But butterflies do die awfully quickly. Maybe those tragically short lives do match up with airings of this show. How do we really know?

We don't. But we do know that "New Girl" is funny. This article firmly endorses viewing the program, whether or not it has any impact on the butterflies of the world.

"New Girl" airs Tuesdays at 9pm on FOX.
