'The Americans' renewed for Season 2 on FX
Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys star as two KGB spies posing as Americans in 1980s suburban Washington D.C. The series premiere set a record for FX drawing 5.11 million viewers in Live+7 ratings. Although subsequent episodes have failed to match that figure, ratings for this week's fourth episode were up versus the previous week and FX plans a marathon of the first five episodes on March 1 to give audiences a chance to catch up.
"The show is truly worthy of its widespread critical acclaim and we are confident that its quality will continue to yield a robust and passionate audience," FX president and general manager John Landgraf noted in the network's renewal statement.
The Season 2 renewal is for 13 episodes, customary for FX. The Season 1 finale of "The Americans" airs May 1.
